After listening to this podcast and Dr John in his last moments of building the perfect structure .. a song suddenly popped into my mind written by Burt Bacharach for Dionne Warwick and sung by Luther Vandross " a house is not a home"
There’s no one else on the internet that I would rather hear give a forensic psychological breakdown of Rex Heuermann. Dr John incredibly smart analysis. Thank you both 🙏
He does very well indeed ! I am also looking forward on HG Tudor to give his take. He has a channel where he explains the perspective of a narcissistic psychopath being one himself. That man, even though i would never want to meet him... he is truly the sharpest knife in the drawer and i've been making a study of the topic for years. I recovered of abuse using his channel...
I love how Dr. John presents a full on thesis in these breakdowns, with like, a complete bibliography of academic, literary, and cinematic references. AMAZING!! I love this channel so much.
Your psychologist is very conscientious and professional . He is trying to be very professional not just being politically correct .Kudos to him and your show
Indeed.... some of us are near that toolbox and some don't even open the lid. I've watched this repeat in my family structure for generations. Fortunately the ones I chose worked!
I completely agree with your assessment of the DOC ! I have a 4 year degree in psychology and loved the Proffs who taught me. Since I was 56 when I returned to get my BS degree the teachers seemed to enjoy me in their classes because I spoke and asked questions. Somehow the professors started asking me to join them in their lunch room to pick my brain about certain classroom topics and eventually I was allowed to intern for them in my senior year. This experience was wonderful since the proffs had an open door policy and it made me feel like I was an important part of the school's environment and not someone just sitting at a desk. Doctor John reminds me of my professors and I really find him a great teacher. Thank you for your show and your lovely wife as well. 😊🎉

What an awesome show I’ve been listening to everything about this guy, but Jon really breaks it down and makes it so clear especially for those of us who really can understand this. Thank you so much.
The thing that struck me the most was the condition of the house that he lived in. It was runned down in a neighborhood of well cared for homes. I would have thought that an architect would have lived in a larger home or at least a well cared for home. The house is representative of Heuermann's internal self. Self loathing, dark, hidden and wouldn't be surprised if the murders took place there.
I don't know. Maybe, He has/had a nice condo in Nevada, maybe more than one. I read one theory that his home was an intentional distraction, for whichever reason. I've read he owed IRS, also read he paid his debt. Maybe he was ok with the home being confiscated by IRS. Maybe he was hiding income. If his home was intentionally neglected as a ruse, then it certainly is working. He's being analyzed by his run down home which may or may not suit him. Imo, he's hiding not only his crimes but other things as well.
As unkempt as that house is, I don't think LISK would want to clean up a mess made by killing and dismemberment at home. I think he would want an isolated, outdoor setting with water for rinsing off, even. I think he is lazy.
Dr Babe makes me see aspects of human nature I would have never consider. I heard this pod cast for the third time. This content have given me more courage to go deeper into my therapy sessions. Thank you.
There is an element of disfunction with the whole family set up. The hoarding, the grown children still at home, the lack of grooming... all is not well, something big is not right
Thank you for your thought provoking discussion. It made me wonder if the hoarding that is reported to be in the house is a result of RH dominating his family to the point where they became paralyzed emotionally and functionally. RH appears to have robbed his wife and children of their lives in a different way than his victims but also horrifying. Could Dr. John give his opinion on how hoarding is a possible symptom of RH’s dominance issue? I hope RH’s wife and children get the love, support, and help they need because they have suffered enough living with him and the trauma he inflicted on them❤️
Was it hoarding or just plain indifference to their dwelling. I mean the house was described as dirty and disorganized. There is something wrong with family. Wife had a porn book in display on coffee table. Daughter doesn’t go to college but worked with dad. odd also. Dates when family claimed to be away don’t jive with actual arrival since at least one place was time share and start date just reflected when family had access to time share but they arrived many days later. Bizarre
Lindsay - you are onto something.... Those individuals do, indeed, rob others, in so many ways... Also, I had a former husband who hoarded. If I as so much threw one, small thing away, he would get extremely angry. So, you brought this to light in my mind, that, indeed, there are many ways to control people, and devalue them. Control + Devalue = Rob!!
Another excellent analysis. LOVE hearing Dr. John's thoughts. You two certainly run the most educational and entertaining crime channel and I'm so grateful for the quality content. 😍
I lived with a psychopath for 18 years. I was mostly fooled for 14 of them. He acted the whole time. He even acted like a good dad till the day i left. Then he dropped all the masks. I dont see depression, i see contempt at needing to keep up the appearance of a normal family man
@@carolbell8008 no they’re not. A majority of them have Narcissistic personality traits but it’s actually a minority of them that are full blown Narcissists.
Thank goodness for people with experience and knowledge and being able to make sense of the senseless! Thank you guys for such a great presentation to help us all get a better grasp of these types of crimes/criminals.
Erotophonophilia is a Greek word and if we break it down it derives from 3 words: Eros: sex, love Phonos: murder Philia: fondness The term "lust killing" was first used by Richard von Krafft-Ebing a German phychiatrist who wrote a book about the sexual psychopathology.
Thank you for bringing and clarifying your various definitions to an everyday/ everyone level . Clinical definitions make it difficult to understand and relate to.
Definitely! Well assessed! Also, there, is a spectrum for narcissism and psychopathy, and those two paths may well be one and the same - or convergent.
This is fundamentally untrue and completely unfounded misinformation. MAJORITY of psychopaths have narcissistic personality traits, but a MINORITY of them are full blown narcissists!! You can literally google this information folks… cmon….
This video and Dr John's discourse were very enlightening...I now have a much better understanding of this suspect and will look forward now to what the trial brings out. New sub. Thank you!,🎉
I agree, but one should not overlook the fact that he was relentlessly bullied at a young age. Thinking that if this had never happened to him them perhaps he never would've done these things
@@sherri-be5pwhard to say, so much pathology in whole family, Hard to imagine why murderers do what they do. Also Dr. Gary Brucato is another very worthy Forensic Psychologist who is very much supportive of the victims. He, and a couple of other noteworthy people had initiated the Cold Case Foundation. ❤
The best way to look at Narcissists/ psychopaths would be comparing them to vampires. They need fuel which is blood to a vampire. Fuel is they're blood they're lifeline.
Dr. John has an intriguing way of explaining in depth, the psychology of criminals that have us all glued to the show. Your incredible intelligence teaches us as a textbook teaches a student. Thank you for helping us to understand the complex mind! ❤🇨🇦
Happily married and can’t remember shopping at the grocery store with my husband in the last 20+ years. I find it odd that the grocery store employee would find that as “off”.
We go separate ways.. We know where to find each other. I'll be in Macy's purse 👛 department, him looking for collector Hot Wheels 🛞... LOL.. seriously, tho, we NEED to know how to protect ourselves & be hyperviligent & AWARE, it's scary out there ! 😳
My husband stays home with the kids so I can go shopping alone without them. Once in awhile we will take them with us an go to Walmart or something but for the most part I do all the grocery shopping an all the holiday shopping by myself. But I’d rather it that way. My husband does all his shopping on Amazon lol We definitely have lots of happiness an laugh everyday together. Im not surprised at all Rex never did anything with his family. I’d be shocked if he treated them good at all. Hopefully this helps his family an sets them free to live a happier life now without him!
Having been bullied in school and his father dying when he was young could have put him into a situation if not being able to enjoy his young life, including not being able to look forward to school or family life. Mundaneness average grades, isolation, BUT, he has a good enough relationship with his daughter, that he took her into his firm. He is such a conundrum.
This case, the Delphi case and a few others lately once the suspect is caught .looking back over the tips the case could have been cleared many years earlier on a tiny clue. Like for example the car they were looking for was parked in front of the killers house on the Google map from the time as shown looking back in the Google map history from those dates. This should be a good reason for people to step forward with the smallest of tips and for law enforcement to comb over the tip lists over & over.
Omg!! That sheriff needs to be investigated then! He may share this same "hobby" could be the reason he didn't arrest or investigate this man sooner! Lives could have been saved!!
Fascinating interview. So many interesting perspectives, but Dr John's house metaphor relating to the film and Rex's home was truly incredible. From watching media footage of the family home it's something I've also been thinking about. The neglected home definately became a metaphor for RH's family neglect, disarray and abandonment. Considering he was an architect living in a middle class area it further reveals the squalor of his mind. Lots of criminal analysis raised by Dr John in this interview I haven't heard before, so looking forward to further discussions as the case unfolds. Phew....

And I’m learning so so it’s literally free education by a talented teacher. I actually feel like I should pay you for listening. So I’m going to become a patron. Thankyou for your wisdom abd knowledge and how you share it freely. ❤ the way you both bounce off one another to really bring out all the salient points is amazing. !!! Thankyou ❤
Wow, thank you Debbie!
Great job you guys! I have a strange feeling that he killed a lot more than what was found already.
He also owns a timeshare in Las Vegas. That area Needs to be investigated throughly to see if has dump sites in that area too!
I so agree with many of us who think he's, unfortunately, done away with many more others than is currently documented.
I am so happy you two broke this down. I’ve been waiting for it. I needed my favorite true crime team and Dr. John’s infamous wisdom to step in a break it down. Thank you for such an interesting podcast. How scary it is to know monster can truly live amongst us. To all my true gems 💎 be safe and careful! please be aware of your surroundings ! So much love to this community and Lauren and doctor John!❤
Wow, Dr. John. You should testify for the prosecution. Right on. Much appreciated. (And why children?)
Thank you Dr. John and Lauren.
He bought his childhood home from his mother awhile ago. He was probably just used to it and obviously had other things on his mind. 🤷♀️
"runned' is not a word. The past tense is "run".
As unkempt as that house is, I don't think LISK would want to clean up a mess made by killing and dismemberment at home. I think he would want an isolated, outdoor setting with water for rinsing off, even. I think he is lazy.
@@krazyk8592 Or ran. But definitely not runned !
Another EXCELLENT Hidden True Crime episode!!! Great job!
I lived with a psychopath for 18 years. I was mostly fooled for 14 of them. He acted the whole time. He even acted like a good dad till the day i left. Then he dropped all the masks. I dont see depression, i see contempt at needing to keep up the appearance of a normal family man
But not all psychopaths are serial killers
But they are all narcissists!
@@carolbell8008 no they’re not. A majority of them have Narcissistic personality traits but it’s actually a minority of them that are full blown Narcissists.
Beautiful reflection on "Home", thank you.
So, I had to abandon my home because of narcissistic neighbor, they followed me, stalk me, smear me, these type of people are slick and manipulative.
Experienced same.
"Slick" is a very accurate, descriptive word.
I love what each of you bring to your channel, Lauren's broadcasting know how and Dr. John's analysis, you are both superb ❤
Thank goodness for people with experience and knowledge and being able to make sense of the senseless! Thank you guys for such a great presentation to help us all get a better grasp of these types of crimes/criminals.
Hopefully his family can get the help they need. It will take many years to unravel all the abuse they have endured over 27 yrs of it!!!
Thank for the professional insight, Dr. John. I will be joining your channel.
Excellent show,as always guys.Thank You,from Cornwall,U.K. xx
Erotophonophilia is a Greek word and if we break it down it derives from 3 words:
Eros: sex, love
Phonos: murder
Philia: fondness
The term "lust killing" was first used by Richard von Krafft-Ebing a German phychiatrist who wrote a book about the sexual psychopathology.
Love when interviewer listen to the knowledgeable guest & let him talk without abrupt interceptions. Rare. Thank you for this reviting conversation.
He's not a guest, he's the co-host, and her husband. But yes, I agree.
@Terry-lh8cn OH wow ok, good to know. First time here. TY for the info.
Thanks Dr. John for your insight into this LISK, Rex H !
Thank you both for tonight's insight. 👏
I have to say this was an excellent video. It occurs to me that Heurmann's house is his picture of Dorian Gray.
Thank you for you two covering all these topics. You really help me understand
This is the analysis and conversation I’ve been waiting for! Thank you both 🙏
Thank you for bringing and clarifying your various definitions to an everyday/ everyone level . Clinical definitions make it difficult to understand and relate to.
Excellent assessments once again Dr. John and input Lauren! What a team, always on point! TY both.
What a team you two are! Thank you!
All psychopaths are narcissists but not all narcissists are psychopaths.
Makes sense
New sub. Thank you!,🎉
Great discussion. Followed your terms and explanations easily. You are the best Dr Babe!❤
I'm glad I watched the interview while you had it up.
Truly, how does anyone get that deranged....
I agree, but one should not overlook the fact that he was relentlessly bullied at a young age. Thinking that if this had never happened to him them perhaps he never would've done these things
I believe to be so twisted and sick, they were not nurtured normally during childhood is the main cause for this.
@@sherri-be5pwhard to say, so much pathology in whole family, Hard to imagine why murderers do what they do. I don’t think Rex was so bored, he invested much energy into planning and detailing all his hits. Must have spent hours doing these charts, I wonder if he worked all that much as an architect hence the poverty looking home inside and outside.
@@Jackiedylan541 the psychopathology was not in all members just his mother, who was controlling. The worst abusers were the kids in his who relentlessly bullied him.
What profound insight Dr John… what a conflict he must live in with people living in the the houses he builds. Thank you
Great discussion and so on point. Not a pleasant subject but accurate.
In all honesty, your analysis on BK, finally lent the most 'logical' perspective, to his mindset that I could digest so far. I tried to pull the threads together, but failed miserably. That was very well processed.
Thx.
Thank you for doing this tonight
I could listen to Dr John talk about the Psychology of people for hours!
Such an outstanding discussion!
This is an excellent explanation. Thank you for clarifying
Gosh!! Dr babe :) is incredibly insightful. This is probably my favorite talk of his. I could have listen to him all night. I loved the metaphors and in-depth look into all aspects of one’s life. I learned a lot about myself too. I realize my depression IS rooted in ANGER. I had no idea the 2 emotions could be intertwined.
Can you please do more and more and more and more on this
Suppressed anger!
Unresolved resentment!
Thank you Lauren and Dr John for the great insight into this and your amazing dedication to educating us….I appreciate Dr John’s way of explaining people in a way that we can understand
Also Dr. Gary Brucato is another very worthy Forensic Psychologist who is very much supportive of the victims. He, and a couple of other noteworthy people had initiated the Cold Case Foundation. ❤
In light of recent events came back to watch again. ❤ you guys.
Me, too! How many of us suspected that "there would probably be more"... And, here we are - 6 suspicious murders - so far 😢
@@meredithheath5272 yes probably many many more:(
The best way to look at Narcissists/ psychopaths would be comparing them to vampires. They need fuel which is blood to a vampire. Fuel is they're blood they're lifeline.
Brilliant analysis Dr John, very interesting, thank you.
Dr. John has an intriguing way of explaining in depth, the psychology of criminals that have us all glued to the show. Your incredible intelligence teaches us as a textbook teaches a student. Thank you for helping us to understand the complex mind! ❤🇨🇦
Brilliant analysis dr. John.
Happily married and can’t remember shopping at the grocery store with my husband in the last 20+ years. I find it odd that the grocery store employee would find that as “off”.
I prefer him not to go with me but many couples do.
Lol. I rarely c couples together at the grocery store...mostly very elderly or very young. It's the carelessness of the wife and kids that bothers me
Are you cheerless like Asa. The point was the family was off . Not their shopping habits .
Thanks for the insight Dr. John!!!
This Dr. Is brilliant.
Thanks for everything 🙏💜
Keep hydrated, y’all! Trying to keep cool here in San Antonio, TX
The last few minutes of this program, and Dr. John's final insight were incredible. Thank you!
Or maybe her working for him was another form of control .
@@tinazaccagna1459 That's probably a good possibility.
You both are darling, fascinating, and insightful. What a refreshing duo to watch. Much love to you both
Wow , that was beyond amazing ~ could not have stopped listening if I had wanted to ( which I did not ) !!!
You two are amazing together. Love watching your videos. You are both so knowledgeable.
They had him ten years ago, had there been a different chief of police.
The reason behind that is absolutely disgusting. Miscarriage of justice and I’m shocked that there has not been lawsuits from the victim’s families.
I would sue the Chief for wrongful death if I were a victims’ family member.
Omg!! That sheriff needs to be investigated then! He may share this same "hobby" could be the reason he didn't arrest or investigate this man sooner! Lives could have been saved!!
Did the chief of police slow down the investigation of RH? Or just refuse to arrest him 10 years ago??
Fascinating interview. So many interesting perspectives, but Dr John's house metaphor relating to the film and Rex's home was truly incredible. From watching media footage of the family home it's something I've also been thinking about. The neglected home definately became a metaphor for RH's family neglect, disarray and abandonment. Considering he was an architect living in a middle class area it further reveals the squalor of his mind. Lots of criminal analysis raised by Dr John in this interview I haven't heard before, so looking forward to further discussions as the case unfolds. Phew....
Did the host keep calling him “babe”? If so that’s an awesome couple - powerhouse brains! New to the show but really enjoy the insight and I’m picky af when it comes to the analysis of these minds. Thanks for awesome content!
We just celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary 😊
