85 years old, can barely walk, shaking uncontrollably, clearly losing motor functions.
    - Do you remember September 27, 1969?
    - Yes, sir.
    - How old was John at that day?
    - He was 15 years, 6 months, and 2 weeks.
That answer came like a whip slash, like “how dare you ask me if I remember my son’s death”. I’ve never seen strength like this, what a man!

I grew up with an abusive mother-and Evelyn you are the mom we all dream to have. You did NOTHING wrong. Your love for your son is the most obvious and beautiful I have seen out of any 48 hours episode. These parents love their boy. And he is and was lucky to have that kind of love. Growing up in New England is complicated. People look and act gruff and tough, but if you have a flat they are the first to help you out. So you think everyone is severely a softie on the inside. But sometimes people are what they look like. That’s a hard lesson I’ve had to learn. Sometimes there isn’t more behind the crass and rough edges.

Where the killer shows up to support the family during the search, the funeral, family dinners, the community memorials etc. I have seen cases where the killer actually goes with the family to hand out flyers. It's even more shocking when the killer is the parent & they pretend their baby just disappeared. And they go on the news begging for the kidnappers to return the child. It's absolutely shocking.

I understand the mom’s regret at letting Billy go that night. My mom had similar regrets when my sister Shelly was killed. My sister was 17 yrs old. We got a conviction almost a year later. RIP Billy & Shelly. Never forgotten. ❤️🙏🌹

This is terrifying. It shows how flawed even a jury trial can be. How can you have the same evidence in both trials and get different verdicts. I watch a ton of true crime and I always wonder how they can convict people without physical evidence. This just scares me.

I watch true crime every day. I’ve seen thousands of cases. I’d say I am fairly desensitized. I work as a dancer, I see a lot pretty regularly. I watched this entire story, no problem. Until the last few moments. When Johns mother was watering the plants at her sons grave. “Hey John, guess what?”, absolutely heartbreaking. Full fledged tears. How awful it must be for that moment to be a happy one for a mother. 15 years, six months, and two weeks could never be enough. My heart goes out to this family.

I get physically ill just thinking about it. My brother died during covid. My mom was 85yrs old. She was so depressed and her health declined. She died a year later from diabetes. No parent should ever lose a child in my mind. The longest I didn't see my daughter was a month during lock down. My grandson and I are extremely close. He lived with me until he was 7yrs old and then my daughter got married. They moved out. That month of no contact was traumatizing for him and I. He stays with me from Friday to Sunday. I feel so bad for John's family. His mother trying to hang herself 😢 is heartbreaking.

If God ever made/makes model parents, he does not have far to look at all. I hope that the both of you and John have been reunited and leading the lives that you were always meant to. Rest well.

You can tell it weighed heavy on Mike Ferreras conscience the way he talked about it when he would drink. He said he was joking both times - when he talked about being the killer and then the second time saying he knew who the killer was. That's not something you joke about and it was obvious to the people he talked to that he wasn't joking. He's obviously guilty and deserves to be in prison.
