- Experts are warning that the NHS is in the grip of the "worst heart care crisis in living memory" - with early heart disease deaths rising to the highest level in more than a decade. Earlier this year, Faith Harrison - a 22-year-old fitness coach - was told she was having a panic attack, but later discovered she was having a serious ‘widow-maker’ heart attack and needed emergency surgery. Faith’s here to share her story and raise awareness of heart attacks in young people, alongside world-famous heart surgeon Dr Steve Westaby.

Nobody is surprised Faith was told it was anxiety, women continuously get told ANY issue is anxiety by GPs.

GPs have 10 minutes to risk stratify and determine what’s wrong with people, they’re just doing their best! The chances of a 22 year old having a heart attack are extremely low hence why this has made the news

@@iluvbluify Sure, but there are lots of instances where GPs dont believe women on physical issues and tell them its in their head, or hormonal, or to lose weight. You're right that 22 year olds having a heart attack isn't common which is why it made the news, but the sentiment is all too common. I went to the GP (I was born with asthma so it is chronic and I am well aware of what asthma attacks and chest infections feel like) about a chest infection and told them about my symptoms and how difficult to breathe it was, they told me it was just my anxiety. Ended up severely unwell in hospital two days later as my chest infection ended up septic.
Even down to mental health. BPD is so over diagnosed in women and in the 21st century version of female hysteria. Women are scarcely believed and taken seriously.

I’m a Paramedic & I went out to a 24 yr old young man who was displaying anxiety type symptoms, he’d originally gone into work but after feeling unwell he came home. His girlfriend called an emergency ambulance as she was really concerned. As well as anxiety he also had shortness of breath, high respiratory rate, pulse racing, feeling nauseous, chest discomfort that wasn’t getting any better. Easy to see how these symptoms can be mistaken but especially with young people as it’s not generally expected for them to have a heart attack! We check out his ECG & from that we could see he WAS actually was having heart attack. After contacting the ‘cardiac cath lab’ at the hospital, they confirmed the ECG & we took him straight there to have stents fitted!
This!! Part of my soul dies when we take in a “very apparent” panic attack with a normal ECG because they mentioned chest pain. I sometimes have to check myself re: disparities in life expectancy in those with psychiatric diagnoses, effects of SSRIs on cardiac system as well as anxiety itself. There’s a reason for the guidelines sometimes.
A friend that’s a paramedic and studying medicine here in Germany once told a story about a woman who had an acute tooth ache but turned out it was in fact a heart attack 😮 he explained that heart attacks in women are sometimes not easy to detect because they can come in different forms 😮 nothing to do with neglect on the part of health practitioners…..

I have same age bracket of 20 when I got my first heart attack in UK Manchester city after I was forced into homelessness
I had my PFO closed, its so cool, they do it while youre awake!
Ive lost 8 stone over the last 3 years, with arthritis and lots of other issues which have stopped me from working at 26 years old...doctors have said i lost all the weight because of anxiety and wouldnt consider other illnesses. Im anxious because im ill, im not ill because im anxious.
Now attempting to go privately for a diagnosis and treatment so i can get my life back.

Can't believe this has happened again , I went to see a heart dr 29th November 23 told I'd have a heart scan had one told its nothing but got worse chronic pain left arm pain in neck if I walked felt like I was dying kept ringing for help told not to worry , then on boxing day got to the point , I thought I was dying rushed to A&E by hubby taken through had a blood test told id had a bad heart attack put on ward over night cause stoke hospital was closed next day same dr came to see me to tell me A&E WERE WRONG told me it was a stomach issue , tapped my foot went on his merry way 10 min later ambulance Crew were on ward to blue light me to Stoke as they'd looked at scan to see i had 2 blockages got to Stoke rushed through had 2 stents fitted now have irregular angina live on multiple tablets , and yes there is a complaint gone in as he shouldn't be allowed to carry on as told I'm a lucky women to be a live , doctors need to listen to patients and not patronise patients i have no trust in drs any more

Same with me was told stomach issues ended up with 3 stents and ballons done
I would ask to speak to your doctor and explain that they were completely wrong and putting your life at risk for not taking the matter seriously.

Ive been getting chest pains. Been to doctors was told its stress and anxiety. Week later i went to a&e was told its stress and anxiety. Again been to a&e was told they didnt know whats wrong with me.
My brother went through the same thing. He went to hospital last year and to be told he was born with 2 holes in his heart and a leaky valve. He's now waiting for a heart operation.
But it wasn't happening at the rates it's happening now and there's clear evidence of massive increases in myocarditis since COVID vaccines but for some reason it's being completely ignored and suppressed.
Nobody is saying it is that , but to ignore the numbers alongsode the timeframe is absolutely ridiculous

I was of a similar age and they said the same thing. Had another one a few years later that was worse, but still anxiety though 🤦🏻♀️.
My female friend had the same symptoms - classic heart attack. For a week and a half she was told by GP and NHS24 that she just had heartburn. She eventually found out (after 14hr wait in ambulance) she’d had two heart attacks. Now she has heart failure and can barely walk. Medical gaslighting is killing so many women.
Exactly the same thing happened to me! I was 22 as well!
I’m doubtful about the statistics as so many are saying they had a heart attack in their 20s in the comments here. Online it says 19 people in the UK in 2021 under 30 had a heart attack that year. That just seems completely incorrect.

Secondly, should I tell my drs that the two surgeries they did on me shouldn’t have happened because some guy on RUclips “doubted” I actually had a heart attack? In which case, I hope you’ll be willing to testify considering all the money it cost me which I’ll now be suing for since they performed unnecessary surgeries.

It doesn’t sound like she was dismissed, otherwise they wouldn’t have reached an actual diagnosis. Sounds like they shared an opinion in the moment of what they thought it could be. Then after testing the actual diagnosis was realised.

Exactly. Clickbait title. Some nurses nattering is not a diagnosis. It had no bearing on how fast an ECG is performed. It is always done within 10 minutes of arrival so they quickly diagnosed her with a heart attack and did a good job.

Even anxiety is misunderstood for heart attack
Pulmonary embolism is simular .this is what my mum died from. Blood clot broke off in her leg and lodged in her lung.

The title is clickbait. It was not dismissed as anxiety. As she said she had an ECG and she was told it was a heart attack.

Understand the difference between a Heart Attack and a Cardiac Arrest. No one is claiming covid causes Heart Attacks and if they are they are mistaken, it’s cardiac arrest the cases the theorists refer to.

You need to understand the difference between a Heart Attack and a Cardiac Arrest. No one is having a heart attack from the covid jab. All the claims are about a cardiac arrest which is an electrical fault.

They need a widespread national EEG and ECG programme because they can pick up everything so easily but nobody really gets their heart looked at until somethings gone very wrong. These scans take about 5 minutes.
Don’t smart watches have ECG’s built in now?

Massive increase in excess deaths from serious heart problems and blood clots since covid vaccine. I genuinely hope it has nothing to do with it but it is very worrying that there has been not one investigation or test to prove or disprove despite mounting calls. The office of national statistics has,a few months ago completely changed the method of calculating excess deaths in the UK (which was rocketing) the new baffling method has now reduced the numbers to a ridiculously low amount. Why? Something is not right!
I agree as so many healthy young people with heart problems and dying from heart attacks as well as cancer .I have heard that since the Covid vaccine there has been a dramatic increase . We must question why and serious investigations into the vaccine.

@@L-vh8ku who would be collecting these numbers? Most of the families of deceased people, or injured people are mostly gaslit and ignored. There’s many videos of morticians showing the giant unnatural clots being pulled out of 35% of the dead, when they say anything to their superiors they are told to shut up. My comment was satirical anyway because I don’t believe the royals would get a jab, they know full well they are dangerous.

Being a young woman in the health system is dangerous. We do not get taken seriously for anything and its always put down to hysteria.

The specialist here retired several years ago & therefore isn't up to date with current cardiac issues. Please have a practising cardiologist or specialist when you are discussing these medical problems because treatment & diagnosies change frequently.
