Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how well it works when the temps start to crank up over the coming weeks. I'd suggest looking into using native materials found onsite for the organic medium. Might help the little bugs break down the #2 a little better and should be free. :)
Don't know how true it is, but I have heard that distributing, ahem, #1 around the area deters critters from getting into your stuff. Someone local I know does it to keep pack rats away. Don't know if it works, but I know he has done it.
And where can we order that particular urine diverter? Does it have a company/model name that we can google?

Is it hard to empty the bucket now? That would be my concern with your current setup.
I also have concerns with a whole in the bucket. The urine seperator / diverter sould seperate as early as possible.
