    A video simple meant to spread awareness about the nature and role of engine mounts in your car. Not all cars have the same type or same style of engine mounts. Polo and Vento do not have front subframe mounts. They only have an Engine Side, Transmission Side and a Dogbone Mount. Part numbers of a few engine codes are given in the description. For more help about parts, please leave a comment I'll try and get back to you!

    I observed vibrations followed by inspection of the mounts .
    Last year , .my car did pull to one side under heavy acceleration , it's as a result of worn out suspension arm bushing., Which I changed immediately. Thanks for this lovely presentation

    Sometimes depends on the engine or car but when you put new engine mounts maybe you can feel a bit more vibrations at idle cause they are new and need some period time for "adapt", that happens to me in a seat ibiza 1.9 tdi 90cv from 1999 when changed all 3 engine mounts and now in a golf 4 tdi 2002 with only the dogbone changed (this one doesnt support the weight of the engine but it prevents the engine the back and fort motion) in the golf you can do hard accelerations and you dont feel any vibration now, before the car do some "jumps" at certain speeds when accelerating hard
    I totally recommend original engine mounts or at least good brands like lemforder or febi bilstein, dont buy cheap things cause maybe they can break easily or last less time, have more vibrations etc

    My 05 Jetta has some vibration, but it has been kicking or clunking from 1st to 2nd gear and also when I slow down clunking when it gets to that gear also. It doesn’t always do it. I thought it was my transmission but when I looked at the engine and had someone put it in reverse I saw the engine fall back toward the windshield, and fall forward when it was put in park. So I think my dogbone mount is bad. It’s not moving from side to side.

    I get crazy viabration when revving as low as 1300 rpm and when I turn the car on the engine jumps abs makes car jump… I’ve put brand new engine mount not replaced dogbone or transmission mount my question is how much viabration does the lower rubber mounts the dog bone go into cause? As put a decent second hand transmission mount hardly any play and car still driving like straight engine to frame… 1.6 fsi 2004 with 120000 on clock thanks again!

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  2 года назад +1

      Haha! Good question. The dogbone and transmission mount are equally important, but not sure how much vibration they'd cause. Have the mounts visually inspected. Depending on your car, the subframe mounts might also be on the verge of replacement

    One observation. I saw the mechanic using grease while mounting the rubber suspension component. How he uses silicone based lubes

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  2 года назад

      I think you are referring to the silicone oil/grease being used during the lower arm bushing installation. I believe this is a standard practice in the pressing shop to allow smooth fitment of the bushing and subframe mounts. No other lubes were used during the installation of the 3 main engine mounts, as the service repair manual doesn't prescribe any.

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  2 года назад +1

      If there are vibrations present even while the car is idling with engine on, it could be bad or weak engine mounts. If the issue is specifically happening at speeds of 100+, it could be an instance of wheels not balanced correctly causing a heavy vibration.

    what a great video Sujoy. I think this is the issue my Golf 6 1.2 TSI has at the moment (with 157k kms in total). You can hear a "clunk" noise after shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. There's also the vibration at idle as you mentioned. And some rattle sound sometimes (but rarely) when shifting from 3rd to 4th after 2.5 or 3k RPM)... Sounds like I need to get them replaced right? the question is which one should be done first? or do them all at once?

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Год назад

      For a car that mileage, there's a chance all of them have gotten old and damaged. Usually, engine mounts are changed in pairs. So I'd get all 5 of them replaced at once. It will definitely make your car feel quite new. I was super impressed when I got mine changed. The clunk might get reduced, unless it's a gearbox specific issue. This will definitely reduce the vibrations on the dash

    • @markkos1160
      @markkos1160 Год назад +1

      makes sense! many thanks for your reply ;) do you know the gearbox issue? is it a typical thing? critical or can be used like this (I haven't repair anything since I own it, 10 months already...)?@@SujoyShivde

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Год назад

      It's quite typical for higher mileage DSG gearboxes to clunk. I'd suggest driving it. One day it'll either just break down with flashing P R N D S or have stuck gears. In those cases, you'll need to inspect the mechatronic and the clutchpacks. Till then, just enjoy it

    Isn’t this considered a transmission mount?

    • @SujoyShivde

      There can be about 3-5 different types of engine mounts on a modern car. Engine Mount, GB Mount, Dogbone Mount, Subframe Bushes X2.

    Im having Some vibrations in D (DSG) in Idle and driving (like unbalanced wheels) but i already Bought Brand New wheels. I can feel it in Steering , Seat and body. My Engine shakes when i turn it off.
    Sounds like the mounts?? Thank you

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, sounds like a bad mount. But try and single it out to the mounts. Do the steering vibrations occur on braking? If yes, then it could be something to do with the front rotors. Are you experiencing any issues with shifts on your DSG? How much have you driven? DSG vibrations could also be related to the Flywheel, but it's more of a shudder than a vibration. Do check if the car sways on heavy acceleration. That's one of the indicator for bad mounts.

    • @swarly_yt
      @swarly_yt 4 года назад +1

      @@SujoyShivde no issues on the brakes. The DSG shifts are good. I run some test to hear if its the flywheel but nothing. I have 62.000km on it.
      And i got some clunks when i accelerate and deaccelerate shortly. Only hearable in 1-3 gear.

      @@swarly_yt the 1-3 DSG clunks are fairly characteristic to the DSG.

      But a generic answer is this :- 10-12k MAX if you go for ZF Lemfoerder Mounts ( 5 Mount Set) and about 6-8k if going for local Taiwanese Mounts. VW mounts are about 19-20k in dealership and labour extra.

      I am having a VW1.2 MPI, what is the recommended interval to change mounts
      By the way I am from ZF, and watching your video bring me a smile on my face.
      Have you bought the mounts from Anand tempo house Pune ?

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  15 дней назад

      @vinodarjala7075 that's nice to here! ZF is a nice brand, I recommend it to a lot of my friends. There is no fixed interval, if there is excessive vibration, then the mount is inspected for excess play and recommended to be replaced. Our road conditions end up causing premature engine mount wear. Yes, I bought them from Anand Tempo House.

    Hi is it necessary to change gear Mount along with engine mount??

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  2 года назад

      Usually only the defective mounting needs to be changed, but since these age in a similar fashion, when one is changed, the other might be on its way out too
