@@tom3nex much quieter. When the mounts become shaky, you can obviously hear the noise inside the cabin. I kept confusing it for suspension issues, until my other mechanic drove it and identified the issue.
Sometimes depends on the engine or car but when you put new engine mounts maybe you can feel a bit more vibrations at idle cause they are new and need some period time for "adapt", that happens to me in a seat ibiza 1.9 tdi 90cv from 1999 when changed all 3 engine mounts and now in a golf 4 tdi 2002 with only the dogbone changed (this one doesnt support the weight of the engine but it prevents the engine the back and fort motion) in the golf you can do hard accelerations and you dont feel any vibration now, before the car do some "jumps" at certain speeds when accelerating hard I totally recommend original engine mounts or at least good brands like lemforder or febi bilstein, dont buy cheap things cause maybe they can break easily or last less time, have more vibrations etc
I had this issue in my ameo. Typical symptom was sound from engine bay when going over uneven roads especially during when the engine is cold. The sound used to go away when the engine heats up. I had to go to atleast two vw service stations for the correct diagnosis.
@vinodreddi I'm also facing a similar issue with 1.2 mpi polo clocked 70k, during cold start a lot of vibration and clattering from the engine bay. When the engine heats up the sound is minimal. Have you changed engine mounts, how much does it cost ?
My 05 Jetta has some vibration, but it has been kicking or clunking from 1st to 2nd gear and also when I slow down clunking when it gets to that gear also. It doesn’t always do it. I thought it was my transmission but when I looked at the engine and had someone put it in reverse I saw the engine fall back toward the windshield, and fall forward when it was put in park. So I think my dogbone mount is bad. It’s not moving from side to side.
@@SujoyShivde I thought that as well, going to get the alignment off better help, it’s most likely that, there wasn’t so much of a difference, thank you!!
Try some heavy acceleration on a straight line and see if the car sways or leans to one side. That is a common symptom. Check for stray vibrations on the dashboard, wheel when the engine is idling.
Do u meen steering wheel vibration? I do get random vibrations on the steering wheel. So do you think I should just change the motor mounts? But like I said before it's mainly on start up the engine shakes pretty bad. Especially if I start up on a hill. Thanks for the help
I get crazy viabration when revving as low as 1300 rpm and when I turn the car on the engine jumps abs makes car jump… I’ve put brand new engine mount not replaced dogbone or transmission mount my question is how much viabration does the lower rubber mounts the dog bone go into cause? As put a decent second hand transmission mount hardly any play and car still driving like straight engine to frame… 1.6 fsi 2004 with 120000 on clock thanks again!
Haha! Good question. The dogbone and transmission mount are equally important, but not sure how much vibration they'd cause. Have the mounts visually inspected. Depending on your car, the subframe mounts might also be on the verge of replacement .
I think you are referring to the silicone oil/grease being used during the lower arm bushing installation. I believe this is a standard practice in the pressing shop to allow smooth fitment of the bushing and subframe mounts. No other lubes were used during the installation of the 3 main engine mounts, as the service repair manual doesn't prescribe any.
My car shakes when i accelerate its like i have to drive it smoothly but when i gets to 100 kilometers per hour its start to shake badly 100 kilometers per hour to 140 kilometers per hour its very bad and when it shake i also feel it on the foot rest near the clutch pedal could it be also engine mountings
If there are vibrations present even while the car is idling with engine on, it could be bad or weak engine mounts. If the issue is specifically happening at speeds of 100+, it could be an instance of wheels not balanced correctly causing a heavy vibration.
what a great video Sujoy. I think this is the issue my Golf 6 1.2 TSI has at the moment (with 157k kms in total). You can hear a "clunk" noise after shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. There's also the vibration at idle as you mentioned. And some rattle sound sometimes (but rarely) when shifting from 3rd to 4th after 2.5 or 3k RPM)... Sounds like I need to get them replaced right? the question is which one should be done first? or do them all at once?
For a car that mileage, there's a chance all of them have gotten old and damaged. Usually, engine mounts are changed in pairs. So I'd get all 5 of them replaced at once. It will definitely make your car feel quite new. I was super impressed when I got mine changed. The clunk might get reduced, unless it's a gearbox specific issue. This will definitely reduce the vibrations on the dash
makes sense! many thanks for your reply ;) do you know the gearbox issue? is it a typical thing? critical or can be used like this (I haven't repair anything since I own it, 10 months already...)?@@SujoyShivde
It's quite typical for higher mileage DSG gearboxes to clunk. I'd suggest driving it. One day it'll either just break down with flashing P R N D S or have stuck gears. In those cases, you'll need to inspect the mechatronic and the clutchpacks. Till then, just enjoy it
