Seems odd to me that ECS decided to not add the lateral bracing to the top of their mount (it's the first bolt they remove from the factory mount in the video at 2:08) Also, when you look at other manufacturers MK7 poly mounts, they have this lateral bracing provision present in their design. What's to keep the ECS mount from bending the frame under hard lateral loads? There has to be a good reason why the original mount was designed this way.
Jack around the lip of the composite pan, where the engine casting will be. All you'd be doing at this point is compressing a piece of composite between your jack block and the cast iron. Avoid pushing up on the hollow section of the pan. You're not jacking thousands of pounds, only a few hundred at most.
I have 52k on my 15 S3 and my motor mounts need replacing. Thinking about the BFI mounts but I am considering the ESC ones as well. Is there a big difference in the 2?
@@fizz2754 I went with the BFI engine and trans mounts. Very happy with them. Quality is very high. Also got some new BFI control arms. Control arms were a big improvement. Removed all the squeaky noises. Much more compliant over bumps.
@Max-lq9bi man. This is the most critical step while doing the entire job. One wrong move and that will cost more than its worth. These people know as well that they missed it but dont bother to share the proper info.
And what about a dog bone insert? Shouldn't it stop wheels hopping and transfer more torque on the road? Where's the difference between there two installations?
A dogbone insert is a great inexpensive first mod for tightening up your drivetrain. We have a DIY video on the insert here: ruclips.net/video/fPZnYQYXJic/видео.html
ECS Tuning I installed a Spulen dog bone insert 2months ago on my mk5 dsg gti but don't feel any difference any stiffness and the front wheels are still spinning on a hard start, launching mode. Is it a dsg fault coz have no idea why I don't get any vibrations on low revs like the others.
Dogbone inserts help with wheel hop, but not necessarily wheel spin. What tires are you running? Front wheel drive is going to spin first gear from a launch, but there's ways to help add traction.
ECS Tuning I have dedicated 18" Dunlop GT 6months old tires with good grip it won't be tires fault but more dsg I guess ever in a manual mode it has some revs restrictions.

I feel like the original one that he removed is better built than the one he is putting in. Thank you however for showing us how to remove the original one, but I think the factory one is safer.
At 1:01, mind blown 😱😱😱 my thumbs would love that tool!

Can you show us where you placed the jack on the oil pan? Definitely don't want to mess that part up!
im terrified to support an engine with a plastic pan...... that just has bad day written all over it to me.....
A Steel oil pan is a must have “upgrade”
Got a Rein steel pan kit for under $70

@@exothermal.sprocket does this edge of pan hold thousands of pounds ? (45-100kg) ? uhh
@@majklxxx I'm not sure what you're trying to convey with your comment.
Are your torque specs specific to the new ECS parts, or are they the same as factory?
on the top of engine mount stud/ bolt , there is a lock nut , which tool I have to use to remove it,the nut is octagonal shape.
Is there only 1 engine mount? Or is there more
Same torque specs for a 2006 gti?
Have you done a catch can install for the MK7?

Hi. Do you have a picture or video of how to jack on the oil pan? Do I need to remove the undercarriage cover to jack up the engine?
they always miss the critical information whether intentionally or un-intentionally
@@HarpreetSingh-yo9ir yes I agree & is extremely irritating that I wanna give thumbs down & not like the vid & not subscribe

Do mods like this have any effect on warranty?
yes ur warranty would be gone*
Would this work for 2017 VW GLI??? Need more GLI products!!!
Only the MQB platform GLI, I presume.

Sebastian Bialek I’ve also heard vibrations are less evident in the dsg with just the dog bone insert vs the manual

Kinda random but is it supposed to feel more vibration after install? Like does the poly need to break in?

kinda scary to install for me lol. what if i accidentally move the engine with the jack lmao
16 mm bolts 30 foot pound.... so how much NM is that?
30 ft-lb is 40.67 Nm. But don't take my word for it. Find a conversion calculator online.
Will this fit a 2013 2.0T Gen3 Beetle?
No, but we have many mount options that fit the Gen3 2.0T Beetle! Here's a link: goo.gl/esrnCp
I do same thing but holes doesn't line up. It's any way to fix that.

Zach from Donut!!!
ermmm... the pan is plastic right? isn't that a risk of breaking it?
Yo the donut media dude
Theres only 1 mount?
Jajaj watching in 2022 and thinking why its zach's not in Donut
I got my engine mounts installed now my car is vibrating like crazy ?
Well that’s a no brainer…. You replaced soft poly mounts with harder ones what did you expect?
Plastic oil pan ftw...
Still didn't explain engine mount alignment when installing, which will cause the engine to NOT be in the correct place.
Engine didnt move a bit didnt you see
30ftp & 90* Plus 44ftp & 90* wtf is that??? hahaha
The 30/44 is the lb ft you torque them too… then 90 degree turn to stretch them since they are torque to yield
