Cisalpina is really taking the TVR route, make a cool as hell sports car that also happens to be a death trap, and when someone inevitably complains, Lorenzo’s answer will be “don’t crash than”
So glad this series is back. Easily my favorite automation series. So cool to see someone take a very realistic and grounded approach to playing this game
I love how you have captured the Italian way of building cars in the 90's and early 00's already in the 70's "What's the horsepower?" "YES!" "How does it handle?" "YES" "What are the safety features?" "YES! Also come look at our other cars and forget that question" "This thing looks like a deathtrap!" "Shall we go to lunch?"
Now i expect a Group B version of the Cuneo Based on the Ferrari 308 GT/M or even on the 288 GTO Evo. It would really make the Cuneo a cool car when it will be a race car too.
Gr.5 Futurismo is just a piece of art. It will kill dozens but will become a legend. Please consider a Group B of some kind in ten (in game) years. Immer weiter so.
That intro gave me goose bumps, great video as always. Quick tangent about the BeamNG snap oversteer, More rear downforce would help even at the 100kph corners, given the weight balance of 56 44 i would say around 30 kg (at 100kph) of downforce at the front and 90 at the rear should help, and also help with the Automation drivability score.
Thanks! I think in this car the aero balance was quite good, off-throttle and at higher speeds on-throttle it felt quite good. The only problem was in lower gears, when the boost hits hard and uncontrollably. For the Automation drivability, I tried lower and higher downforce with different distributions front/rear, but the score always seemed to prefer lower downforce. I think there is more to it than just a bad distribution. I'll see if it happens again in future builds and investigate further.
@@the.bavarianis making a separate variant just for beam export out of the question? Ive noticed several of your cars have funky suspension setups to appease sportiness usually, and the faster ones seem to always have oversteer problems lol. Could be solved by putting a setup that you can drive better but ignores score just for the sake of getting more consistent laps, and to be fair something like a competizione would have driver and track specific setups that change each weekend like you would be doing anyway. @@AlecBarron2 Yeah, the "low downforce" seen here would be Perfect for Le Mans or Old Spa, but a Downforce Monster would be needed for, say, Nurburgring! So there is indeed a Lore for a High Downforce set up there!

You forgot the leaderboard after test drive… Though Futurismo Gr5 is just awesome! Also it seems that 70s are good times for Cisalpina, economy wise! Looking forward to new series!
If this car were real, I bet the matchbox version would become a rare one and be super expensive. This car is a death trap, but it is an absolute beast of the 70s
Thanks for this comment, it makes a lot of sense. A lot of the GT market is in Dalluha and they are a little slow in adapting unleaded fuel. So let's see if the score improves as time progresses!
Big fan of the group 5 Futurismo. I think you managed to capture the group 5 look quite well, my first thought seeing it at the start of the video was something along the lines of "Ooh, a gr.5 car" I like how the totally legit wing mount/fender part that most definitely is not a wing extension comes up again every now and then in motorsport. Another example of this (which like the Zakspeed Capri is a German silhouette car) would be the 2002 version of the Opel Astra V8 Coupé (I'm a big fan of the silly V8 Astra, especially the '01 cars).
That Group 5 Cuneo seems like an absolute widowmaker, but I'm sure the races it'll participate in will be quite exciting to watch! I'm also looking forward to the C2 replacement you teased at the end :D Will it stay this very basic Lotus Seven or Tommykaira ZZ-type of thing or morph into a more traditional sports car? Great episode as always ^^
I'm so glad you're back! I've loved your series since my computer isn't very powerful and doesn't run BeamNG or Automation (which for some reason is very GPU-intensive) very well. Following Cisalpina has been very fun and I can't wait to see where you take it next.
if you can do a video solely on body design would be so awesome if you could share some of your tricks and tips for making cars more realistic in automation.
Zakspeed tried that whole "this is the rear wing and the rest is just the fenders" argument at the beginning of 1980 with the Capri, but it immediately got struck down and never actually ran like that
It did run 2 races with the wide wing in the DRM series, after initial FIA approval. But the organizers then decided that it was illegal and the results of the two races were deleted.
As I replied to Alohai's comment: I tried different distributions front/rear, and every higher downforce setting was scored worse than a low downforce setting. Seems a bit odd, but I will keep an eye on this in the future and see if I find the reason.
And on a Sidenote...you should really try to get in contact with SimRacers like Jimmy Broadbent. He did a lot BeamNG stuff and would be the perfect Test Driver for Cisalpina
der bayer is a sim racer himself :) that said, if he needs a test driver, those usually aren't big-name drivers (those would be the factory-backed race drivers) and as such i'd like to apply for the position as a lover of classic prototype and gt race cars, as well as a modern prototype specialist in iracing :)
In general, I believe Jimmy is quite busy and I would never ask him to drive my cars / push my content. FYI, I was in one race with Jimmy so far. We had a small fight in the first lap here, but I had the quicker car in a straight line: ruclips.net/user/livezNRdU_FAFu8?si=sIUBja00UboMMsVv&t=2496
It would be nice to tune the turbo more smoothly so that the power builds up gradually, as the turbo only starts at 6100 rpm and does so too suddenly, causing a sudden and unexpected loss of traction at the rear wheels
That's the goal for future road-going cars. But for the race version, a lot of power is required. And with 1970s turbo technology, the torque curves look like that. I think it is realistic for race cars of the time. Maybe tires were a little grippier though (Automation does not allow running super-wide rear tires, I had to make them wider with advanced trim settings, but those do no affect grip).
How long do you intend to keep the Futurismo in production? I think some kind of Pantera 90 Si -style heavy facelift around the late 1980s/early 90s would look really cool.
Got an idea: Do a special version of the Cuneo with flared fenders, special ground effects, and a twin turbo motor to appeal to the hypercar market properly. DEFINITELY was not thinking of the 288 GTO.
So a turbo engine where pretty much all of the power kicks in at 6000 RPM in one huge peak is actually viable? I always tried to make something with a more flat power curve and most power available at 3000-4500 RPM... Just wondering where the truth is here and which approach makes more sense for which applications
He tuned it like that only because it's a race car, so it's tuned for maximum power at high rpm which is where it's going to rev during a race. For road cars you really just want the earliest spool possible if you want a car with good driveability. Also a flat power curve is not that great because that means lots of torque at lower rpms which causes a lot of stress to the engine
@@Ignacio.Romero yet that seems to be the case with most modern cars, even sports ones. Look at any of their power curves - they are pretty much like that even for Imprezas and such
@@alextrigger8199 modern cars have some kind of computer boost controller which started to be a thing only in the late 90s/ early 00s. They also appear much smoother because road cars spool much earlier, so the power increase from the turbo isn't as noticeable as it would be at higher rpms. We are talking about early 70s turbos here, proper fuel injection hasn't even been invented yet
You are definitely right, this is not a good engine, it is just representative of early turbo engines in racing. Drivers had to manage staying on boost a lot as the usable rpm range was so narrow. Something like this would never work in a road car. At some point, Cisalpina will have road cars with turbo, and there I will try to engineer a reasonably good and manageable power curve.
I'd love to, but at some point I need to get the videos done and not spend more hours on the car. One of these episodes is 8-10 hours of work already, and you can easily spend 2-3 hours more on interior design and testing dials. :)

why is the engine project all the way up at 90 Pressure- almost full Work- for a development project to learn about turbos? Would expect a really low setting there for better Learning, even at the expense of other sliders.
It can be made to make sense in the Lore, Lorenzo, by now, has *got* to be the Wrong Side of 60, probably pretty close to 70, and he has become a Grumpy, and somewhat Crazy, Old Man who wants to see the Turbo Car Finished ASAP as he is not sure how long he has left before going to meet his maker (Lorenzo, IMO, should pass away around 1989/1990 to be Replaced with his son) and thus Pushes the Team Hard!
