- First trip @silverlakesanddunes6939 in 2024 in the all new Refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R with the 5.2l Supercharged V8. The truck is still in break in mode so I didn't push it to much. Huge upgrade in power and suspension changes vs the 2021-23 F-150 Raptor. I will be going back soon to push the truck more.

The biggest improvement is the suspension upgrades with the Fox 3.1 dual live valve shocks vs my 2021 F150 Raptor.
I loved hearing the boys going nuts in the backseat.
They are even more wild in real life! haha

Thank you for actually taking it into the dunes and getting it dirty. It's rare to see someone use the truck the way "it's designed". I'm interested in buying one, and most people only do walk-around videos or drive on the road and talk about how comfortable the seats are and how cool the radio sounds. I come from a Toyota Tundra family (with the v8 engine), where we always go in mud and sand.
Glad I could provide some real-world off-road driving action!
I was just there in July, had a blast in my Gen 3. I run premium all the time.

Love the vid. I was the gen 2 you started to chase at about 8:26. We had a great turn out with the Midwest Raptor Junkies on this opening weekend. Always looking for more Raptor owners to run with. We will be out on the dunes a few times yet this year. Love the R and great video.

Really cool video! I agree with not pushing them too hard and doing dumb things. Same here, I’ve taken mine out far away from home. 3-4 hours away and always think to myself “I gotta get home”. I’ve never broken anything or even gotten a flat. The only thing I’ve had happen is the horn button came loose. Warranty covered that. Some knuckleheads try to show off usually end up paying for it. We usually hit Anza Borrego, Plaster City, and Johnson Valley. (So Cal).
Anyway you can show us how the new headlights look in when on at night?

What would you say was the biggest downside to your Gen 1 raptor when you took it to those dunes compared to your Gen 2 or Gen 3? (besides power)
Thanks for watching! I would say I like the electric power steering a lot more on Gen 1, Gen 2. and a steel body always chasing rust vs gen 2/3 being aluminum.

😢I hit a 107mph going across the black rock desert playa in my Gen2 Raptor, as much as i like your truck the gen 2 is still the most aggressive looking Raptor so far. Gen 4 coming a close 2nd in the looks dept.
Having over 700hp has to be nice but the cost to run it has me thinking the 3.5 ecoboost that the V8 guys love to bash is actually a more prudent power plant, especially when off roading miles from civilization. Glad its not a mall crawler to you like most we see on the road.

Gen 2 looks awesome! 3.5 is a much lower cost option for a daily..big difference!
Does the Raptor R share the same suspension and shocks as the Raptor 37? I know the 37 gets dual valve shocks, so it is a huge upgrade over a standard Raptor. Not sure if the R gets an even higher bump, or if it's just the same. The 37 definitely does seem like a good middle ground between base and R.
Thank you for watching. My understanding is it’s the same technology as the 37 package. What I do not know is if the valving inside of the shocks is any different between the two trucks otherwise they look identical suspension wise.
Would love to have these drag strips in Australia. We have lot's of open beach and dunes you can drive on but, this being a nanny state (country) it would never happen.

The eco boost is a better off road machine , the added weight from the V8 is a negative for off-road , the R is great for going to the mall and street drag racing 😂
