@@BluGiant14 Yeah it was both these things Nolan was conflicted, he knew if he doesn't perform his duties then the Empire will take action against him and on the other hand he doesn't want to risk his relationship with Mark and Debbie.
In the comics it wasn't much developed but in the show it was.

@@sinteleon well I think that’s the point. Conquest likes to fight but he follows orders first. The orders were to make sure Invincible was making progress. That’s why he thanks Invincible for resisting, so that he can let loose and still be compliant

No matter how hard Conquest is portrayed as a devasting and fearsome character, once I saw how he begged for his life with Thragg it was obvious that he was just a bully who enjoys inflicting pain on the opponents mentally and physically rather than fighting to push the limits. This is the reason for his downfall as well, treating Mark who has unimaginable pain tolerance as a typical opponent he has fought in the past.
You know that's actually would have been true if it weren't for how the fact that he got killed by Mark. He was smiling the entire time even when his head gets pummelled.
When he died he was still smiling.
There was also how Nolan held high regards for Conquest.

But in all honesty, the story of Invincible truly shows that sometimes you can’t afford to have morals. You see a threat. You end the threat. Every time he shows mercy, it bites him in the ass. And you see the real consequences of it every time too. Wish SOMEONE would learn from this example of why we don’t let mad men live.

yeah, but it gives them an advantage. In other comic universes, most heroes feel tired or start feeling afraid when they see their own blood. But Viltrumites can be fighting with their guts hanging, shattered bones and limbs chopped, and they don't give a single dang about it. Ruthless mofos.

I've never understood why people hold up 'no-killing rules' as some kind of noble thing in the superhero genre. Killing in self defense, or in the defense of others, is both moral and rational. Conquest has already murdered countless people. He will not listen to reason and cannot be dissuaded. Mark would also have to know that even if, somehow, he managed to take Conquest alive, it is a virtual certainty that he will escape eventually. It is only logical that the only way to prevent further death and mayhem from Carnage is to end his life.
Stories are about sending messages and lessons. It’s not about trying to rationalize every action or decisions. If a character’s integrity lies in them not killing, then they won’t.
Simply one of the best fight in the franchise. Pure determination, horror and rage.

When your enemy is deadset in killing you and everyone you hold dear, and all available alternative options are gone, is it wrong to fight back? My dad's cousin who is a soldier said, they prefer a more diplomatic and peaceful way in solving problems but oftentimes it's not the case.
In Batman's policy you should never kill even to save a million, here only in the heat of battle and when your life on the line is the option justifiable. Regardless I'm not so sure.
He killed eve briefly that alone made his "death" justified that no kill rule is stupid.
Y'all have a mixed up notion about this - the no killing rule is not that hard and fast. You try every other option before killing, that's how it works. It's mainly for instances where you can take the person in but instead divert to killing. He wasn't wrong for killing him since that was the only way to stop him at the time. It also doesn't mean now you're just on a killing spree - same moral compass and do your best to avoid killing. Also, batman himself will kill if absolutely necessary.

His code is based on the fact that he hasn't given up on any of the villians, and Harley Quinn is basically his success story since she's now a hero (hell, Ivy's well on her way). But when push came to shove, he still shot Darkseid in the head.

The no-kill rule for heroes is a very recent perversion of the heroic mythos, probably because the usual suspects don't want randos to kill them.
The experience of finally getting this volume of the comic and experiencing the Conquest fight was absolutely incredible. One of my favorite fights I've ever read.

@killakaynyne highly suggest going back and rereading the arc. It also explicitly states MOM is also the one who sealed them away. MOM is the closet thing they have similar to the one above all or actual version of the GOD, and Spawn is no where near that level.

i really like how invincible portrays the hero vs villains there's no sugar coating on how to fights turn out like the brutality of when they fight makes it feel like this is what it would be if there were superheroes/supervillains in our universe

The invincible war was pretty crazy but peak invincible was the battle with the ancient viltrumite warrior conquest. No battle was as bloody, no battle was as epic and no battle has ever topped this confrontation(i mean if the battle against thragg and battle beast wasnt off comic then it would obviously be better but no this I vs C is peak comic book art)

I loved this arc and fight, how the fucking world almost ends and immediately a WAY bigger threat arrives, I never felt as excited while reading a comic my heart was racing while merely seating on a chair, I loved Invicible animated show but after reading the entire of it I just CAN'T wait to see these badass fights animated...

@@hippiedariusxd3006 I think one of the last things we will see this season is Angstrom meeting with the other Invincibles or him talking to them or something along those lines... maybe they get to Mark's universe and just start destroying shit. I'd like to see the Conquest battle towards the end of season 3, hopefully we don't have to wait longer. I love this show but some episodes it's like damn were progressing so fast and then other episodes are a lot slower. At the beginning of Season 2 I just knew the Invincible War was going to be this season for sure with Conquest showing up at the end.

With the amount of deaths that were his fault up until that point he chose a weird time to draw the line at killing a guy that wants to destroy the planet and murder him.
Mark DID think he killed Conquest here. He caved the dude's face in, how could he not think that? It was Cecil that kept Conquest alive on the futile hope he could interrogate him.

Near-death experiences will somehow cause Viltrimites to become stronger physically as if the body registers new threats and in-turn crafts a more powerful body to handle the next one.
