To make them crisper without burning one side, try less heat in the oven, and a longer time. The dough needs to dry out. To make them not rise, use less leavening or make them thinner. I just love watching Olivia. She's such a breath of fresh air, so innocent. The excitement of anticipation making her jump up and down made me smile. You two are doing a great job as parents. Peace.

Thank you Al, Gina and Olivia....and Pluto and Tanner and cat. I was laughing out loud as Tanner chased the cat around the house while the three of you made cheez-its. When my children were young we did fun and interesting things like you do, and it brings wonderful memories back for me. I miss my kids, but know they are happy and have the same memories I do, and sometimes I get a text asking if I remember the time... awesome. I recently completed a small home on two acres, and soon hope to have some livestock and a garden. First I have to wait for the central NY state winter to pass though. It was 60F here today, so I have hope!

I bought an Instant Pot after watching y'all use it... makes my life so much easier. The stainless steel pot for cooking is better for everyone, compared to chemically treated surfaces in other products.
Glad y'all took time away from vlogs, we all need time away from work, the whole work/life balance thing... We may miss our visits to your vlogs, but y'all need down time to prevent burnout. And that's hard work.

Ha ha ha ha ha!! As I'm watching this, my dog is play chasing my cat around the house. Then I see Tanner chasing Figaro at the same time (my real time) :D LOL!!!!! I just enjoy and appreciate these family cooking moments
I love seeing you make all the things I've got recipes for. When making the cheese its, as someone mentioned below, shred your own cheese from a block and then it helps to spread it out on a cookie pan or couple of paper towels to let it air dry for just a bit. Seems odd but for some reason it helps make the flavor stronger in the crackers. You can also add just a small amount of powdered boulion (it does NOT take much) to add beef or chicken flavoring to them.

Homemade Cheez-itz are so good! I always have fun making them. They seem to turn out better when I grate the cheese; I think it's something to do with the anti-caking agent pre-shredded cheese has, but that's just a wild guess.
What a clever idea to use the pasta roller. You'll certainly get a much more consistent result that way, and save yourself some work! Those silicone spacer bands that go on the ends of the rolling pin are super handy for rolling out dough really evenly. A cheaper alternative.
I haven't done this in a while. Good idea. Thanks for reminding me. Working on something and having fun together really draws the family closer. You're making great memories.

2 months before our goats started to not be able to produce milk, we started freezing their milk in glass jars in the freezer. Then when we were ready to drink it we put it in the refrigerator to defrost for a day or two. That way you can still have it for your coffee.
Fingers crossed for Willow to be pregnant! I totally agree with you on Nigerian Dwarf milk. I love it! My doe, Jolly Rancher is due in 3 weeks. I can’t wait to have milk again! Amazing about the Cheez it’s with the pasta maker. Now I may have to get one. Y’all are a blessing! ❤️

Those Cheez its looked delicious. How are Figaro and Tanner getting along? It looks like they were having a game of tag while you were baking and I think I heard Gina have to be "the Mom" with those two.

I use the day Parmesan cheese. When I cook them I turn oven to 425 bake 14 minutes and they turn out perfect.
I use a wooden roller to roll out the dough.
Perfect everytime.

New subscriber from Portland Oregon, urban gardener and her fix anything genius hubby, Ben, here at Tinkerer's Paradise. I found your channel through Roots and Refuge Farm's RUclips channel. Timing was perfect too as I was getting ready to look for a recipe for making cheesits and here you all are making them, thank you. My husband loves cheesits and eats them a lot, so it seemed a much better option to try making them ourselves. Working to get that man eating less processed snacks...its a process. Adore the coup name. New Yolk City, clever. Will be binging on your channel to catch up some now.
We are supposed to get snow over the weekend and it may get icy here.
Monday it rained, then froze overnight as snow fell leaving roads very icy. And it's been in the mid twenties the past two nights this morning so our winter finally arrived after things started growing. Had to bring in some tree collard cuttings I was rooting outside when temps were much milder. Would hate to lose them.

Bacon-flavored Cheez-its sounded so delicious! I had to go to the cupboard and pull out the bacon-flavored Ritz Crackers, top with Pepper Jack or Colby Jack cheese then microwave 30 seconds. Home made Horse Doughvers(LOL). Yummy!
