None of this is exactly "untold". I did a report on him back in school when we were asked to write about our favorite celebrity. This even leaves out a lot of interesting factoids. Like that he was actually born in the elevator on the way up to the operating room. Or that he graduated as valedictorian at the age of 16. Or that he only chose architecture as a major because it was the first thing on the list of choices. Also, My Bologna was written while he was using the restroom at his dorm. Another interesting thing that wasn't mentioned is that he's a vegetarian, and only ate a "Twinkie wiener sandwich" as part of his character on the set of UHF. He also did the claymation for the music video for Jurassic Park, which I think is pretty cool. Coolest thing though, is that he knew he made it as a musician was when he met Paul McCartney at a party, and Paul excitedly said "Hey! It's Weird Al!" and was stoked to meet him, before Al even got a chance to introduce himself. Any of these things could've been worth adding to this video. I hope the upcoming biopic touches on at least a couple of these things.
Sorry about the longwinded run-on nonsense of this comment. I just really love Al, and I hope the world can see how deserving he is of that love, and truly hope more can share that with me after the biopic releases. Hopefully, I just come off as the right kind of weird. The kind that The Weird One himself would be proud to have as a fan.

Al came along at just the right time, in the '80s. Radio was an incredible force during that time; it was the heyday of multiple new and innovative musical styles. It was the Decade of Music. Al found himself right in the delivery room for the birth of MTV. MTV was good for him, and in turn he was good for MTV. And he popularized the novelty song again. He is, quite sincerely, one of the most important musical artists of the late 20th century.

In March of 1981, my then girlfriend came up to my college with a cassette and a portable player. No sooner did we get into my dorm room when she said "You have GOT to hear this!" and began to play the tape. It was Yankovic--of whom I'd not heard before--doing "Another One Rides the Bus". Apart from being a damn good description of an actual NYC bus route at that time, it was funny as hell. 41 years later...I write song parodies too, and I owe him (not to mention Frank Jacobs at MAD, Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman and Stan Freberg) one hell of a debt.
