- That time I met Donald Trump...was a little awkward. You see, I worked in the White House for 4 years when I was in the Air Force. Mostly under Obama but a few months into Trump's administration. At the end of my assignment, I got a chance to get my picture taken with President Trump. It was a little awkward....

Trump supporters might say he was just new at this departure photo thing. But you said it right. It is a matter of decency. If you respect the other person, you will stand to shake their hand.
Did his staff not go over the protocol? I guess his people are a reflection of Trump, be rude and ill-manner to all. Trump is a snob..always thinking, 'I'm better than everyone else." Such an embarrassment!

I agree wholeheartedly with him that it was awkward and uncomfortable but kinda points out a defining principle of the United States, we have a civilian lead military. His awkwardness seems to be more personality induced born out of either annoyance, disinterest, or downright rudeness. Let's not forget, this was the same POTUS who US war dead “losers” and “suckers.”

Picturing all of this unfolding makes me disgusted... You deserved respect in that moment, you sacrificed your life in the air force and served (Unlike Bonespurs)... The way Trump treated you in that moment was almost as if you were worthless of his time or for him to simply stand for you and your wife, where he was forced to do this for you rather than respectful for what you've done and celebrating your leaving... He has no patriotic bone in his body... I'm physically disabled (Arthrogryposis) and it hurts for me to stand too long, and I would've made sure to stand however long our meeting was if I was in Trump's shoes...
