    Thanks for the video. I originally switched parties to vote for Yang because I hated how MSNBC was rigging the election but the more I learn about Yang the more his policies make sense.

    Yang's ideas are the best, he speaks it in simple terms, so people could understand it, but it is really intricate. However, Yang's UBI is no utopia, and cash in hand will indeed generate creative work, which is much better than social service centers.

    Yes! I live in a very rural and impoverished county in Washington state and my husband and I were just talking about how much it would help our area. As of the last census there was 35,000 people in the county over 18, the freedom dividend would mean nearly half a billion dollars each year coming into this area! Funny example with the martial arts studio. We have one that is struggling. Right now they are basically doing it on a volunteer basis because people like me can't afford to pay them. I'd love to use the freedom dividend to pay them for my kids classes and also sign my kids up for local music lessons that they have been begging me for.

      Yeah, this is the one benefit of the Freedom Dividend people don't talk about as much. It would revitalize small communities around the country.

    No argument can be made that it would not help communities across the board. Over the last 40 years the government has created a "debt" of 20 trillion and we should be living in a virtual paradise. But now all real wealth is concentrated into the hands of a few and our roads, bridges and many communities are crumbling. UBI is the exact opposite of what's been done over the last forty years and it is only logical it would yield results that are the exact opposite of what we now have.

    YES!!! Great video, explained clearly. I wish the Yang campaign would talk about this more! You want to win IOWA? Get this video to folks living in rural Iowa. And get the Veterans for Yang video to them, too. Very powerful. It’s not just rural areas and small towns, though. Every community would get a boost. My ZIP CODE alone in Seattle would be infused with over $1M / month. That would make a huge difference to my neighbors and my neighborhood. Yang2020.com used to have a zip code lookup and you could see how much the Freedom Dividend would benefit your community. Why they removed it is beyond me! I hope this video gets widely shared. I wish someone would put it on TV in Iowa.

    And with all this new money in these small towns, would you think big business would be interested in providing broadband to towns that can now afford this service plus much more? Talk about a life line. Young families can stay where they grew up and support the older generation because our seniors will need help and who best to provide but by those who love them.

    I live in a rural area now. A lot of the population here is older, I think there are very few around my age, there are some families close to my age or a bit older. Majority is retired, and quite a few are pretty well off from what I know. I have lived here almost 10 years, and a big reason I moved here, besides to be with my boyfriend, was to farm, and all that has happened since I came here is just a decline on what we had. There was an issue with a building and it got mold in it a year before I was finally just going to attempt a small farm stand type shop and now I don't know if it would be worth it to take out a loan and fix it on top of a loan to start a business. A UBI would give me some security to pay the loans off, and it would also put more money into our local area and hopefully people would stop by at times to get produce and other food goods instead of the almost 25 minute drive out into the town where the stores are.
    I think a UBI could help this area out a lot. I often wonder what little change could take place and turn it into a ghost town. The main town area doesn't have a whole lot, and I often wonder if having a big hospital is the reason there is even an okay town area.

      Ken, can you explain this? Are you not taking into account the VAT? I'm perplexed why you've concluded that the Freedom Dividend is not a good idea.

    • @kentcollins4865
      @kentcollins4865 4 года назад +2

      @@Mutantmalcolm 5+5 will always be 10. Every source that has broken down Yangs plan to pay for 2.3 trillion is a over all tax increase of 8.9 per working adult. That is a huge tax on the poor who at this time don't pay any federal taxes. A tax on all financial transactions will affect the 3 largest investments on wallstreet negatively. Those 3 investments are 401k plans.

    • @kentcollins4865
      @kentcollins4865 4 года назад +1

      @@prplmtngal every group that has done the math on this say the VAT only gets you just less then half way to pay the 2.3 trillion needed for the program. The other taxes have a lot of holes in it as well. Who gets to decide how many metric tons of carb I use in a year ? Not to mention the huge tax burden added to the poorest people in our society that currently isn't paying anything

    • @Mutantmalcolm
      @Mutantmalcolm  4 года назад +2

      @@kentcollins4865I'm glad you at least looked into it. The numbers I have seen are similar except I heard it was $2.4Trillion lol. But out of that, we will save $600B on existing social programs like food stamps, disabilities, housing vouchers, ect. They either get there social programs OR the FD. We will save an additional $200B in incarceration, homeless shelters and healthcare. The economy is projected to grow by $2.5T and create 4.6 million new jobs which will bring in an additional $800B in new taxes. So right off the back, about 70% of the FD pays for itself. The final $800B will be paid for by a selectively implemented Value Added Tax like they use in Europe. These would be targeting corporations who are benefiting from job automation and are much harder for them to avoid like they do with income tax. So yeah, the cost of using a self-driving uber or the getting next day shipping through Amazon may go up but like I said, close to 70% of this literally pays for it self.
