Me and a few friends went on a camping trip when we were about 18 or 19, and someone brought Scrabble. One of our friends is dyslexic and didn't really want to play but joined in anyway. We each pull tiles from the bag and our dyslexic mate goes first - he puts down PENGUIN. Absolute chaos in the camp. Anyway, great vid. Didn't expect to see a 420 joke 🤣
Hey Will, you ever think about doing a video of the highest scoring scrabble games of all time? Or even one breaking down the theoretical highest possible score in a scrabble game and how that would be achieved, I think that'd be a fun watch!
The only times, in my 36 year lifetime to this point, that I've played Scrabble were as a kid, playing for fun. And yet, I watch all of your videos and enjoy them immensely. Thanks for the videos, keep 'em coming!
Brian is one of my role models in Scrabble - incredibly strong and consistent player, really friendly & personable guy. Definitely hope to spotlight him soon.
I've watched atleast 5 or more of your vids and had no idea you were a pro! I was astonished by how well you followed the games and how you could possibly talk about what the best words were in certain spots and what they were fishing for etc. Great channel 👍
Your narrated videos are the only way I'm willing to consume Scrabble content. I got curious about what an actual Scrabble tournament looks like in real time and decided it wasn't for me.
lol im the same, i can only imagine the live commentary: "yes, it appears greg seems to be thinking. still thinking...still thinking...great weather we are having today"
It is definitely a little different, perhaps slower paced. But for big events like the National and World Championship, you never know when you might see an epic piece of Scrabble History unfold in real time!
I haven't played a single game of Scrabble in my life but I just binged this history series because the videos are just so well done. Thanks for the fantastic entertainment, I look forward to more of these!
Love your content Will. Been a semi-serious scrabber for 15 years and this is next level content. Your channel is on the cusp of exploding, keep it up!
Congrats on 10K subscribers! Your channel has rekindled the passion I had for scrabble when playing with family and I thank you so much for that. I dont know if you'll do a QnA or anything to celebrate but if you do, could you explain the origins of the wanderer15 alias? I have an idea but it would be great to get an answer from the man himself.
Thanks so much! It's a name I picked when I was younger (perhaps 15 years old) in my school's computer lab, where my login was "wander". I thought it was cool then...and while it may be less cool than I thought, I can't seem to bear to change it now!
Hey Will! I'm not usually super active in RUclips comments, but I just adore these videos & I wanted to let you know! You've definitely gained a loyal fan. :)
Thanks for annotating this excellent game! Sorry, I'm going to be that contrarian ignorant viewer here and argue at 2:59 maybe INJURE, while great, might not be the "best" play because UW is such an awful leave on an open board and since Brian is already ahead by 31 points. Maybe JURE or ULU or WAUR or even exchanging tiles could be considered, in order to bingo on row 1 or row 7 or somewhere else I'm missing.
Everything you're saying makes sense - though after INJURE, the board is getting more closed rapidly (at least to bingos - 7-letter bingos will rarely play anywhere), and JURE# is CSW only. The rebuttal is simply - 39 points is a *lot* of points!
Question: how much time do the players usually spend per turn? Something like "trailside" I feel like would take like thirty minutes to come up with...
Congratulations on winning some sort of a "person of the year" award or similar. Scrabble is working out well for you, it seems. Now, if you want to justify that award... and make things even more accessible for people, I suggest you make the ultimate "how to" video that is currently absent from RUclips: aka how to set up for Live Streaming Scrabble games. You could explain the cheapest possible set up to do it successfully, right up to the top level set up (probably sponsored and at least part funded by Scopely these days) that can be seen at world championships. Give details of how to do the OBS wizardry, the specific cameras (fish eye?) used for showing racks, and how it gets set up around the players without getting in their way (too much). That is the content I just searched for, but RUclips has zilch. If you were to make that video, it would be the gift that keeps on giving, as regards a regular flow of views and more importantly given the high value nature of the content (and its scarcity), it would drive subscribers your way too.
Hey Will I have a question, well 2 actually. Do you know which game had the most "lengthenings" of a word? eg. en, vent, venter, eventer, preventer, preventers. And also what is the most times this could happen theoretically?
It also helps to have the money to be able to go to the NASPA championships every single year, which is expensive considering it's not in the same place. Btw, this is not a shot at Joe Edley or any particular Scrabble player, I don't usually ask what people do for a living, I find the question too personal
hi, long time ago a friend was lucky to be able to play Quetzals in A8-15 with the A already in A13, we figured that it was worth (414+50) 464 pts. was it correct? We gave him the win on the spot.
Yo Will, how can I get in touch with some top players to talk fro some tips on how to improve my game? I’ve tried to get in touch with a few but I can’t find them on Instagram! What is an easy way to reach them?

This channel is the summoning salt of scrabble channels
I'm a huge admirer of his, so this is really nice to see. Thanks!

Really appreciate the kind words!
The Greatest Scrabble Channel Ever Is Underrated
Looks like we need a favourable episode on Brian, he’s been on the losing end of a few of these vids now
Brian is one of my role models in Scrabble - incredibly strong and consistent player, really friendly & personable guy. Definitely hope to spotlight him soon.
I've watched atleast 5 or more of your vids and had no idea you were a pro! I was astonished by how well you followed the games and how you could possibly talk about what the best words were in certain spots and what they were fishing for etc. Great channel 👍
Thank you very much, this makes me happy to read!
Just binged this series as a non-scrabble player after getting recommended episode 5. Thanks for keeping it accessible, it's very entertaining!

Fascinating sequence, and great storytelling!
Good video, but I wasn't planning to thumbs up until I saw the 420 joke.
Well deserved.
babe time for your weekly Scrabble History video..
Thanks for annotating this excellent game!

Woo another scrabble history is out!
Keep it up, Will! :D
Question: how much time do the players usually spend per turn? Something like "trailside" I feel like would take like thirty minutes to come up with...
Players have 25 minutes to play ALL their moves in the game - some moves take 10 seconds, some moves take 10 minutes!
Fantastic series! Are more coming out? :)
Definitely!
Yesss new video by my new favorite creator!

Got to see how Joel Sherman won both North American championships with Nigel Richards as his final opponent.
Weren't you also in that New Yorker video?
yup
Great video Will!
Absolutely love these vids! Can't wait for the next one :)
Glad you like them!
As a scrabble junkie these videos are GREAT. Keep it up 👍

Great question - I don't know the answer offhand, but I'm sure somebody out there does...
I'm so glad I found your channel
So am I!
Love your videos! You should do a video on your run -- I'm sure a lot of us are curious & interested :) Cheers from the Philippines!
Thank you - maybe sometime I’ll get to my own accomplishments…
Will, do you have a Patreon or something? I love your content and I’d love to support your work!
Will: Healthy dose of luck
Me: 5 vowels 3 turns in a row (somehow drew AAAAEE? in a turn)
thats right kids you too can become a scrabble master... if you study words while driving at high speeds
Brian cappelletto has became the anime villain on this channel
He's a hero of mine, so I'll be looking to find a good episode where he's the star soon!
nice flex at the beginning there
This is super impressive but I want to know about the guy who was 21-9 with a +227 score, a full 1000 points below the other 3 guys
2:07 a what now?
so 23 years ago the North american scrabble championship paid 25,000 but now it only pays 10? hmmm...maybe they should try and get sponsors?

I believe it’s 374 which is still incredible! (36 for QUETZALS, multiplied by 9, 50 more for the bingo)
More please🎉🎉
If someone won 5, then he also achieved winning 3.
But why does Joel Sherman look like he’s in a mugshot there?
Learnig Scrabnle words while driving is not a funny quirk.
