THANK YOU for this explanation. Newer here and really wanted to figure out what all of this meant. Going with "whitelisted" for more revenue options down the road. Loved your comparison to "streaming pennies". Definitely puts it into perspective!
Those content ID providers should be kicked into touch. They claimed my videos over 1000 times, I appealed every one and won every time because I purchase the right to use the music and sounds in my videos from the likes of Epidemicsound and SmartSound. I hate wasting time appealing claims and having time sensitive videos miss their upload date because some low life lodged an ID claim and took too long to review it or in far too many cases just waits for the 30 day notice period to expire. There is too much low life out there making false claims and ripping off creator's videos then re-uploading them as their own. The problem is that there is no punishment for taking longer than 24 hrs to review claims, it's a rip off industry that relies on small time creators being scared to lodge appeals against claims by the legal language used in the appeals procedure.
Is Contend ID advisable though for indie artists? It means you can’t collaborate with influencers or offer your music to other channels without the risk of their video being blocked. Surely Content ID works against you’re overall goal of spreading the word and reaching a wider audience. For the little revenue you’d gain using it, is it really worth the hassle?
You should be able to whitelist specific videos that are contentID claimed, or note to the influencers that you will be taking the ad revenue (perhaps they have sponsors and don't otherwise monetize based on ads, or maybe they just don't have the subscribers yet but they have many views and therefore wouldn't be making money anyway). You could also potentially do a revenue split with them, but that would be dependent on trust and keeping up with it, which is generally a red flag.
@@lantarenX yep sounds like a rabbit hole to me. More headaches than it’s worth. And from what I’ve heard, YT’s content ID is very unreliable. I’ve heard of people not receiving a penny from it. Even some of the big named artist employ their own people to daily scour YT to manually flag content because the algorithm isn’t so perfect.
Content ID is only good to see who's been using your music in their RUclips videos. But most of the distribution platforms never pay out the money. It's a scheme for them to make more money off of the artists/composers. One guy suggested I use it, but I told him I'd rather just stick to monetizing my own YT channel.
How about this situation? If i will publish an album then, i uploaded/will upload the tracks directly on my youtube channel. It is posible to get my royalties thru monetizatipn without copyright strike which is the album was publish and licensed by music distributor?
Thanks there's so little info about this online! I found two distributors that don't take a percentage for content ID by the way. Music diffusion and amuse. Also in terms of content ID with the streaming revenue royalties its going to be split between mastering royalties and publishing royalties right? And so you would need to reclaim the latter through a PRO is this right? Now I don't know exactly how PRO organisations work but i'm assuming they must take a percentage fee surely otherwise they wouldn't be able to do the job of going around and collecting the performance royalties. So I think technically even if your distributor takes 0 percent commission from youtube content ID, if its your song on your own video then it should always be better to white list it and just get 100 percent of that ad revenue to your channel assuming your on the partner scheme. Otherwise it will just be the master streaming royalties and you will have to reclaim your writer publishing royalties share through a PRO and i'm assuming that they will have to take a percentage of it otherwise how could they even exist? But obviously content ID is good for revenue from your music on other peoples vids but with the consideration you mentioned about exposure etc. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks
What happens if your label enters the content ID system on behalf of you but you own the publishing rights to the song, or someone else owns the copyright to the video? Is the label supposed to share this with all three parties?
Route note they have free distribution.. Im using it and my RUclips channel that not yet monetize now have ads bcoz of the copyright claim (content id)

Hello sir i uploaded song on youtube monetised audio video on RUclips through tunecore and today i got claim on my own channel with my own tunecore name...so what should i do..should i dispute that i have content right or not
Hey thanks for the breakdown, I’m new to this so just to make sure, before you can direct monetize, you have to meet the 1000 subscribers threshold? And until then should use content ID thru distributor? And once (if/when) you get 1k+ subscribers then u contact your distributor and tell them to stop receiving it for you so that you can then become part of the RUclips partner program and proceed to make an Adsense account? Is that right?
What if you lease beats from producers and you want to either direct monetize your channel or put content ID on it how does that work with distributors? Also what if you don’t have your music monetized and someone else is using it in their video ?
Awesome video sir... I have a question: if I'm using Content ID (Via Tunecore) & I get many stream this month on my channel, after how long will I see money in my Tunecore account?
Can 2 videos have the same content ID.. let's say you lease a beat and it has content ID to the previous artist? Will both our content show up onn1 video?
If I upload my video having content ID on non-monetised channel, will I still get paid by content ID provider? Tell how I will get paid if my channel is not monetised and ads don't show on my channel. Love from India.
Well, a lot of digital distributors say no but I've seen videos be monetized through Content ID with the channel not being monetized. I don't understand how it happens, but it happens. I have a few clients, none of them eligible for monetization, with Content ID videos on their channel and they're being paid for views. My personal experience says, you'll get paid for it.
Which content ID provider pays money if video is uploaded on a non-monetised channel? Question is somewhat like, if I upload my video on non-monetised channel, will I get paid by content ID provider? Tell me the name of those content id providers.
They'll all pay, even the ones that say they can't monetize videos on non-monetized channels still pay. So, it doesn't really matter. I'd get this guide though if you truly want to understand how to make money on RUclips: punm-alt.lnk.to/AAUarRQdYo
What if you do content ID till the 4000 hrs watch time required for monetisation on youtube and then switch to youtube monetisation. Is that possible? I'm a known actor coming up with his first single so I might hit the 4000 hr mark a bit faster. Your suggestion?

Hi brother, may I ask if I distribute my song via Tunecore, and then 2 weeks later I upload the song in RUclips, will Tunecore claim my song and take it down from RUclips? Thanks my bro.
Thank you so much for your the insights. Do you get the RPM of the video that was posted with the claim via Content ID? If the publisher of the video has 5$ RPM let's say do you get the same stats?
Can you plz explain if a channel is in RUclips partner program, so can the user generated content be monetised through RUclips or it can only be done through content Id ?

Really Content ID is only good if you have a hit or viral song and everybody is using your song ! Otherwise it’s pointless and you only get Pennie’s from your distributor
Well, they kind of make a point to it. If you upload a music video to your channel without Content ID, it won't appear on your artist profile on RUclips Music. It won't even be considered a song.
Always watching your videos about distributors and monetization stuff. Great work as always man. If possible, could you give a quick view and your thoughts about this new Amuse music distribution? Anyway, thanks for the videos always.
You could do one or two things you could work out a payment situation with them maybe splitting the revenue you make that month from that video or you could pay them a little more to have that video on their channel and let them know upfront that they won't be able to monetize it but you will pay an amount every month to have it hosted there. If you just need the promotion you could just use a song that's not in the Content ID system just yet.
