The sad thing about the Dooku/Qui-Gon episode is that it shows Qui-Gon would have been much better able to sense and handle Anakin's growing anger than Obi-Wan was.

Dooku is one of the few that Palpatine trusted with his identity as Darth Sidious. Dooku knows. So does the big blue guy who stands next to Palpatine in the Senate, the Vice Chair Mas Amedda. The pale, bald Umbaran woman who also often stands by Palpatine in the Senate, Sly Moore, also knows, and she uses her own secret dark side powers to help Palpatine in the political scene and beyond. Tarkin, would also later intuit that his master, the Emperor (as well as Darth Vader), was a Sith Lord, though he had no interest in challenging Palpatine's reign, and remained a loyal servant to Darth Sidious, just as the rest of those listed here did.

Unlike most people now. Also I love how her mother screamed at the tiger, it's exactly what you should do with a big cat. Make yourself big and scary, do the opposite with a dog. @The Normies,
10:42 Parents can say no, my guy. The Jedi don't kidnap children. The thing is, it is a great honor to be accepted by the Jedi and most parents give their children up to become one--think of it as a higher calling, if it helps.
For Ahsoka's people, I don't think it was a difficult choice to give her up. We saw how her people respects nature and how her mother respects traditions, Ahsoka's family's beliefs are Jedi like already. The live off the land, never taking more than they need. In a galaxy with all sorts of technology, we see her people with very little of it. Sure, there was a droid helping with the roofing, but that was it. Ahsoka's mother could have had a rapid fire blaster, but chose something more in line with a hunting rifle, and we saw that the other villagers had the same one. They had to look for Ahsoka on foot--no speeders here. These people are one with nature, living off the land and respecting the cycle of life.
Anyway, if there was one people that would have a few if any issues giving their own child to the Jedi, it's probably the Togruta.
22:01 Dooku brought about the end and rebirth of the Jedi. He didn't set out to be a villain, and I don't think he saw himself as the villain until his partner, Palpatine got Anakin to kill him. Dooku wanted the Jedi to see the corruption of the Senate and how the senate was taking the Jedi down a road they ought not go. The Jedi shunned him, which forced him to look elsewhere--Darth Sidius. Qui-Gonn was Dooku's anchor, had he not died, Dooku's story very likely would have ended differently. Still, had he turned, and Qui-Gonn lived, Qui-Gonn would have been able to bring him back towards the light side of the Force. Dooku did what he did to help those the Republic abandoned. He didn't do what he did for personal gain. Qui-Gonn, being Dooku's Padawan, put him at odds with the Council as we saw in the movies. He was rebellious, yet devoted to the Jedi beliefs. Qui-Gonn was Dooku-lite. Obi-Wan had a dash of Qui-Gonn in him, just a dash. Since he adhered to the Jedi code more often than not, he eventually became a member of the Jedi council. Obi-Wan's promise to his master and friendship/brotherly bond to Anakin made him look the other way when he should have reigned Anakin in, but he felt bad for the boy and ignored some serious issues that should have been addressed during his tenure as Anakin's master. Anakin passed on all that he had learned from his master and what he had seen from Qui-Gonn to his student, Ahsoka who grows up being the Jedi Dooku wanted to be and the Jedi Qui-Gonn tried to be. You haven't finished Clone Wars, and Rebels yet, but when you watch it, I think you'll understand what I'm saying.
I want to see more of Luke and Ahsoka. Luke always felt like a guy trying to be like his father, a guy he never really knew. He was chasing after the past, a past that no longer existed. Obi-Wan and Yoda were teaching him in the old ways. Ahsoka's different. Yes, she grew up under the old Jedi way of teaching, but having survived Order 66 and the Dark times, she's something else now...which is likely why Yoda and Obi-Wan told Luke that he's the last of the Jedi. Ahsoka's a complicated person, perhaps she's now a Bendu, a Force user who's neither Light nor Dark, she's the one in the middle.

Micheál (pronounced Mee-hall) Richardson is actually Liam Neeson's IRL son! Very cool.
23:50 And this is the point; the Jedi's compassion compelled them to get involved in individual cases of oppression, but by allying with a governmental body they compromised their own values. Even Yoda says that it was a mistake to make the Jedi Generals in the Clone Wars. The Jedi are members of a religious order, essentially, they're not supposed to be soldiers. The tragedy is that in trying to protect the galaxy, the Jedi played right into Palpatine's plan.
(They don't 'suck' though.... they've only ever tried to make things better.)

Often the Jedi Order taking force sensitive toddlers is a little sketchy, some species actively hate them and call them child-theives, back in the day they were more aggressive about taking force-sensitives.
However the Togruta consider it a great honor to be taken to the temple and trained as a jedi. Probably because their species puts a great deal of importance on hunting.

  • @brucechmiel7964
    @brucechmiel7964 Год назад

Ok. So before I blow a gasket in frustration from listening to this speculation. Tales of the Jedi, is a really abridged version of events. In most worlds it is celebrated to bring a Force Sensitive child to the Jedi. But cause this show only as a few short episodes it cannot finish the story started by a few quick screens of the prologue of the TCW episode "The Gathering". The image of a cloaked Plo meets Ahsoka. I know Surj will not read or does not have the time to. So Ill elaborate. A bounty hunter posed as a Jedi in an attempt to take Ahsoka to Palpatine tricked the villiage into giving Ahsoka to her. Plo Koon intercepted the bounty hunter and met Ahsoka and the village. The family offered her to the Plo for the reasons I mentioned above. There is a lot of inconsistency with how the Jedi get their initiates. However, I want to make this perfectly clear to you. THE JEDI DO NOT KIDNAP. If a family does not want their child to taken, the jedi will leave, a note will be made like the list on the Holocron in Jedi: Fallen Order. Some stories' say then the Jedi will mind trick the family or flat out steal the child for their own good. This is cause the method was simply NEVER explored in any of the movies not even TCW. So comic writers will fill try to in the gaps and they all tell conflicting stories mostly for the purposes of unnecessary drama. Like a family hiring a bounty hunter to bring a youngling home from the Jedi whch is non canon and contradicted by another story which is also non canon.. As far as I know the only RUclips channel that actually goes in depth of this topic is Generation Tech. If someone knows more about this and can give me chapter and verse on this topic I would love to here it.

The classic way was as soon as a child was identified by their people or by a member of the Jedi order as having force potential they are immediately taken by the order severing all ties with their past and their families.

People aren't forced to give away their children to the jedi. It's a choice, most do it to get the child out of poverty.

No, they do take them from full loving families. We saw that with some of the first Cad Bane episodes. They just kidnap any kid that has the force no matter where they're from.

Not really a spoiler but you guys were right about dooku knowing palpatine was the chancellor. Actually palpatine had dooku capturing him all planned. Dooku wasn’t trying in the fight against anakin and obi wan. He was trying to get anakin to turn to the dark side. Although when palpatine seen how strong anakin was he decided to have him kill dooku. That’s why dooku was surprised. He was like wtf I thought we were on the same side. None of this was discussed in the movies/show. All novels I believe.

Jedi ask for parental permission when taking their babies. We know that Plo-Koon found Ahsoka when she was 3 years old, we don't know if her parents were still alive at the time or not.

4:32 that’s just straight up wrong. Most Jedi younglings are from average homes. The parents often actually go seeking for the Jedi’s because they know that their child will likely have a higher quality of life and will learn to safely control their powers and protect themselves. If I child came from a damaged home the Jedi council probably wouldn’t accept them at all because of the potential for trauma to turn them to the dark side. Just look at the resistance they gave to letting Anakin become a padawan. The only reason they relented is because Obi-Wan said he’d still train Anakin even if he has to get kicked out of the Order.
