Really hope Mateo is ok, had to turn away from the replay. I know he’s not a huge part of the offense but he’s a special, selfless, key cog of our defense.
Agreed he is a intangible part of the team probably a all star if he can stay healthy and do a little better hitting! I hope we keep him awesome team guy ❤
Glad you contextualized the running mistakes. The Mullins one was mostly a good play by the 2nd baseman to turn a bad throw up the line into a caught stealing. The Cowser one was pretty bad though…I’m somewhat surprised he didn’t catch himself a benching for that. It wasn’t even close and it didn’t seem like he got any sign to go for it.
Suares has been very lucky, he has been pitching from behind consistently. Westburg seems lost in the field. He seems to be half a step slow on most plays on the field . When Chison was on second I knew he was going to steal. Westburg was playing so deep at third, there was no way he could get to third. Also when playing second, there were a few times during double play situations he was going to have problems covering second. I am a big Oriole fan and was at the game yesterday. in my opinion the game was lost in the second inning, with man on first and third with no outs and we can not score. We have big issues with situational hitting. We seem to strike out a lot with men at third. Loosing to Marlins is awful. Historically Marlins have a good record against the Orioles. Will be at game tonight, There were more O's fans than Marlins. Reminder Orioles spring break used to be in Miami and then in F Lauderdale
I was there as well and will there in a group of 10 tonight. Orioles gave the fans nothing to cheer about....just flat. Hoping they wake up big time tonight. Lets get loud Oriole fans as Oriole fans were flat as well with very little to cheer about. Lets start the 1st inning with a Lets Go O's chant! Hoping Chase has a dream debut!
O's are 11-15 in their last 26 games. If not for the Yanks collapse, they would be getting more attention for playing mediocre baseball for a month. If they don't hit homers, they don't win. I don't think Mateo and Suarez being out will turn out to be the worst thing for this team. Hope Mateo's injury isn't too serious but let's face it, he's become an automatic out. I hear they're calling up Norby so Mateo should go on the IL. He's a bench player, that's all he is. Also yesterday should be Suarez's last start of this season. Mayo should be the replacement for Mounty if/when he gets traded.
AJ Puk is the guy I've wanted for about a month. He reminds me a bit of Andrew Miller. Would much rather have him than Tanner Scott. They really need a power lefty in the BP and I like Puk
Both my Yanks and your O's are in similar situations. O's cant expand their lead in the division and my Yanks cant seem to figure it out either how to gain ground on the O's. Both teams really need to be smart at deadline. Yanks are lucky our 2nd half schedule is "easier" than the O's 2nd half. But my Yanks lost to the Mets last night.... yes... the Mets... But look at the amazing lineup the Yanks put together for last nights game... Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. This division race is gonna be interesting. I still think both teams are equally flawed. I dont see the Yanks (as is) or the O's (as is), doing much in the playoffs. Thats if we make the playoffs. Still a lot of baseball to play. Before the Red Sox series against the Dodgers, they were catching up to BOTH of us. We shall see how this plays out. But if the Sox get closer, either the Yanks or O's may see themselves missing the playoffs. Earlier int he season, it was a given for O's and Yanks to make playoffs.
It feels a bit like especially in the later innings the Orioles press and try to play hero ball going for the home run.. it's ESPN apparent in later innings
You know, after watching the orioles this season after 100 games. we not even as good as we were last year😭. idk what imma do if elias trades holliday and basallo for skubal
The Orioles need to be prepared to give up some farm system players if they have any hope for a playoff run. We need pitching! The same thing we’ve needed every year for the last 20 years. You can’t win games on luck alone and one consistent ace, much less make any attempt at a playoff run. The Yankees bad ball has saved the O’s this year so far. But they’re hunting too. It’s gonna be a disappointing year again if Elias doesn’t agree to give something to get something.
Holiday has played the field for only a few games and not even all of one. They took him out after 6 innings. A lot of the Tides games have been postponed due to weather so Holiday hasn’t had a lot of opportunities in the field. Norby is traveling to miami so it will be him if Mateo cant play. But if it wasn’t determined yet, I would actually think that Mason and Norby would be ahead of him definitely if it is a short term issue. If it is long term, most likely Mayo unless they are thinking of trading him then they wouldn’t put him on 40 man and then it would be Holiday
O's better give up anybody but Mayo to get number 1-2 Starter a top RP and a real OBP guy,to make a serious run at the title. staying pat will get you swept again.
Baseball needs to look into its injury problem. Seems you’re safer n the NFL than MLB. It will be the rare player moving forward to hit our typical HOF milestones imo
Don't know if I can agree to that...holding off a better Yankees and better Red Sox would be a feat if the season plays out that way and they make the right deadline moves. I just can't say a team with a year younger Grayson and no Burnes a better team ...they had a better closer and bullpen imo but not team
