I was quoted £2k by the local VW dealer and charged £60 for the diagnosis. Why won't local independent garages touch this pretty straight forward repair ? Great video!
Just due to needing second hand parts, genuine Vw would most likely be like £1000 where as sourcing a working part & guaranteeing it may need 2/3 at £250 each

This pump looks quite similar to the Mercedes CLK w209. Do different car companies use the same pump?
Thanks for asking. The EOS pump is unique and it can only be replaced by an EOS pump. Pumps for modern convertibles never interchange between different brands unless one brand owns the other brand and they use virtually the same top for different cars.

Do you need to purge the system of air after install and fluid fill?
Thanks for asking. While the system is theoretically self venting, there can be some complications if you had a leak before. Three scenarios:
1) Only the original pump was bad and the fluid level in its reservoir was above the minimum marker before you took it out, you ordered a replacement pump from Top Hydraulics. We ship the pumps filled with fluid such that there should be no venting (air purging) required - simply plug and play.
2) You purchased a second hand pump somewhere, hoping that it will last a while. That's okay (if you don't expect the pump to last a long time) as long as you fill the pump before you install it and try to get as much air out of it as you can before running the system.
3) You had a leak in the system and the cylinders already had air in them. There is a chance that you will have to manually cycle part of the top in order to help the pump with getting all air out of the system. We can guide you through it if needed.
i have a problem with my sunroof of the eos
the cables are stuck!! and the motor turns in place is there a way to resolve the problem
How can I test if it's the pump or the cylinders are the source of the problem of why my roof won't open/close?
Typically, the pump fails long before the cylinders do. The first step is to check whether the pump motor is running when you push the button. If it isn't, then check whether the pump has been sitting in a wet housing for a long time and corroded.
I want to buy your product. I need a replacement pump for 2008 eos. How do you loosen the rear trim panel? In the video you already have it loosened. I can't seem to loosen the panel to get to the pump.Please help
Hmm. I would suggest making sure the weather stripping is not holding down the panel, then pulling up harder.

@@tmarzloff The only company who properly rebuilds these pumps is Top Hydraulics in the USA. Shipping from us to Paris, for example takes two to three days via FedEx International Priority and currently costs US$90. For economical shipping from France to the Us, you may want to check with La Poste and with DHL. The pump weighs a little over 4kg.
"Error, no convert operation" can be caused by a few things, very frequently by water intrusion in the trunk damaging the pump. The fluid level being low will not give you this error message if the top previously completed the opening and closing cycle. Fortunately, the fluid level is easily checked...

I have a Chrysler 300M and it's telling me I need to replace my hydraulic pump but I don't know where it's located on my car I NEED HELP
good evening I wanted to ask if this motor pump only activates the opening system or is also used for the sliding of the roof? the roof of my eos struggles to slide and the motor located under the sky has ruined the nylon gear inside. I wanted to know if this pump has something to do with it I have another defect? thank you

hello I replaced the nylon pulley of the motor. the sliding roof started working again. I did the reset but he no longer opens the hood. the trunk opens the sliding roof goes back ... the rear window goes up ... all the flaps open .... but it does not unhook the uprights .... and it tells me system error. I had the auto electrician check it and he told me that there are no errors. how is it possible?
Replaced the pump, all windows except for the drivers side rear go down. That window stops about half way. Sunroof opens, but nothing else happens. Once sunroof opens, I get an error code on the dash and says close top. I made sure all wires were connected correctly. Any ideas?
Bummer about the driver side rear window. If one window does not move as far as the others, then the computer will not move the top.
My EOS has 2 plastic screws behind the emergency triangle, so better check out for these before ripping the plastic apart...
Good to know! Maybe those were already missing in the EOS that we used for the videos...
How much for the replacement pump, and will I be able to manually put my top down after removing the pump? I have the 2008 EOS.

You can either send us your pump first, then we rebuild it, then we ship it back to you, or you can get one from our inventory first and later ship back your old pump to recover the deposit.
We will be publishing videos on truly manual top operation (without using the pump) shortly. This should only be done in emergencies, as it takes four people to lift the top again manually when you want to raise it without the help of the pump.

@@TopHydraulics ok, thank you. I've already visited your website but didn't realize you had them in stock. I will go back and look again, but before I can even access the the pump, I need to be able to manually shut the top. It's partially opened right now, making it extremely difficult to reach the pump. A video on this will be greatly appreciated. Once I'm able to remove the pump, I will order from your inventory.

Don't know where to send you. It took us a while to find the proper size and now we have them made in batches of 15,000...
The hydraulic hose are hard to get out
That can happen if you have a lot of corrosion on the pump. Try to wiggle the fittings and pull harder...
