If with looks alone, I'd go for the CX-5, or the CX-8 if I want a 7-seater. It just looks better. And that Zircon Sand color is just fantastic! I also stated this in your review video of the CX-5. Also, NVH and ride comfort is very important for me. Probably more important for me than some extra tech. At bare minimum, I need a decent sound (and occasional video) system and a reverse camera. And then that's it. If I have the budget, I'd probably go for the CX-8 as I need 2 extra seats. The NEW CR-V (released in the US, I think), however, might be a different story.

I have the CRV. I get 13km/L CITY driving on it. very utilitarian car, it hauls my bikes, grocery and all stuff i bring along. One very thing i hate about it is the front passenger seat and the seats itself. There is a hump in the front passenger seat and you have to have your feet resting more forward if you are at front passenger. As for the seat itself, it is right that the leather slides a lot. Pag natulog ka dudulas ka talaga. Lastly, medyo maingay sa loob, you can really hear the engine. Maintenance wise, you will be spending around 30 to 50k/year for PMS. the ATF on this 9/AT is 3,000Php/Liter and you need 4Liters of that every 4 years. This also uses as 0W-16 oil, yep you read that right. Only Honda has that one in the market right now i think. For longevity naman, someone already did 250,000km (Manila-Tarlac daily use) on this in PH so i guess reliable naman.
The answer is Mazda. Engine, transmission and styling and handling makes it a winner in my book. Plus the color pallet of Mazda is more enticing. Power when you want it or need it.
As mentioned in the review: Honda CRV Diesel = practicality, efficiency Mazda CX5 Turbo = performance, driver-centric, handling (especially with its G Vectoring Control) ; better factory sound system Can't go wrong with either. Personally though, I would lean to the CR-V Diesel AWD.
@@charlesa1234 The fuel itself? Right now, mas mahal ng konti compared to cheapest grade unleaded..........pero still cheaper than top-of-the-line unleaded in most Philippine fuel service stations. Of course, from a maintenance perspective, mas mahal ang Diesel since more parts require servicing. Again, it depends talaga sa preference and use case.
@@blackcyborg009 incorrect po. Diesel doesnt require spark for combustion therefore less parts to service. The reason why diesel maintenance is more expensive is that it needs more oil and changed often due to dirtier burn.

We have a 2018 Honda CR-V V 1.6 Diesel FWD. Feels great to drive on twisty roads when using paddle shifters. Superior engine response, and fuel economy is very good.

The only thing that the CRV clearly has an advantage against the CX 5 is the number of passengers it can haul.. Other than that is a no brainer win for the CX 5.
@@michaeljohnsalik2293 2024 cx 5 if you value driving dynamics more since it has more power and torque(250hp for the turbo) plus very good handling. that is if you can live with the outdated infotainment screen. crv if you want comfort and space but less punchy engine. you may also want to consider a subaru forester in this line up since it has very spacious legroom and very good safety rating in actual crashes. but if you have a bit more budget to splurge you can also consider mazda cx60, it is a bit larger than the cx 5 but the interior,, infotaintment and others are updated and more luxurious. and i need not to mention the 6 cylinder engine that comes in diesel (250hp and 550nm) and gasoline(280hp and 450nm). bottomline is, if love driving go with a mazda and if you dont love driving that much go with the CRV. Test drive both you will know the difference.

@@TitoCed baliktad po ata. CRV stands for COMFORTABLE runabout vehicle w/c has different suspension tuning as a civic. Mazda has the jinba ittai philosophy w/c is horse & rider as one. CX5 is also lighter and more powerful.
agree, Mazda has been #2 in predicted reliability just behind Toyota for the past few years. Having owned 2 current gen Mazda 2 and CX8, both cars have never gave us issues albeit parts are more expensive compared to your regular economy cars. But hey, if you could afford something like a TOTL CX5, the maintenance pricing shouldn't be an issue
I think both need a design refresh and i wouldn't get either. Wanted to like the cx5 turbo because of the driving dynamics but it looks the same as any cx5, apart from the special paint. Maybe the cx60 next year if it won't be outrageously priced
Isn't Diesel fuel is more expensive right now? For both, I'd wait. Mazda kodo design is really getting old and boring now. Same with CRV with complicated lines design.

@@hypnos4545 awd is different from 4wd. Awd isn't for offroading nor snow only (we do have rain). Drive an awd through corners and you can tell handling is way better than fwd. But yes, it takes the fuel penalty.
@@UnwiredRA strongly agree AWD is different with 4WD. I still wouldn’t recommend AWD to the original commenter since he was concerned about efficiency and practicality. Those who need superior AWD handling are loose gravel/snow (rallying). Accelerating in the rain for handling is ill advised especially in a CUV. Add the risk of aquaplanning. There are a lot of safety aids nowadays to help with wet surface: traction control, stability control, brake assist, anti lock brakes, torque vectoring etc. invest in all weather tires. AWDs with the additional weight, oil, gears, driveshaft, transfer case are an added burden of maintenance.

@@charlesa1234 Actually, it is. Pero considering magiging stricter ang implementation ng emissions regulations in the future, mas sensible bumili na lang ng gas vehicles. Yung savings from diesel engines will just be used to pay fees for using a diesel, especially if passenger car. Pickup trucks na lng ang ok mag diesel, and once required na magka dpf yon, dagdag pabigat sa mga owners in the long run. Its a sad but necessary gradual obscurity.

Comfort? Ever been on a MAZDA? I mean those who don’t know anything about mazda’s level of comfort esp. in long drive must really try it. I used to have an hrv. I’ve driven the crv as well but man… when I first drove a 2016 cx5… even a 2018 crv is way inferior in terms or the overall ride.
am a diesel user but from what Ive been reading diesel is a dying petroleum type due to its higher carbon footprint. many western countries have already started a deadline from being diesel-free by 2030 / 2035

skyactive is not a good engine when it starts problem it wont stop having..its a fiat technology to save fuel and to be euro compliant but there are some issues how it works..

Best in gas mileage Low emission Long range Like my Lexus 470 miles ang range 55-65mpg Maganda siya both urban and rural Dahil Pag na city ka like manila. Ma traffic my 50 miles range ang battery. Automatic EV ka Pag traffic or below 30mph( 50kph) ang takbo. Self charging ang battery. Bagay siya sa pinas. Lalo na sa mabagal ang takbo jan.

Yes. Use case. If all if us were single, cx5 most likely but with kids, you need the versatility of 3rd row seats and space.
Diesel and Gas price difference as of today is 1-2pesos. Yep i still go with diesel, better fuel efficiency compare to gas engine.

It really depends on the user yan eh.. I still have my 1998 honda civic sir 2.0 and my 2004 honda cr-v awd mt. Both are still running like brand new

CX-60 will be priced at 3.5 Million Pesos..CR-V will be replaced by a newer one next year and its still made in Thailand

@@charlesa1234 Actually, it is. Pero considering magiging stricter ang implementation ng emissions regulations in the future, mas sensible bumili na lang ng gas vehicles. Yung savings from diesel engines will just be used to pay fees for using a diesel, especially if passenger car. Pickup trucks na lng ang ok mag diesel, and once required na magka dpf yon, dagdag pabigat sa mga owners in the long run. Its a sad but necessary gradual obscurity.
How i Wish I could afford either one of those.

@@deancafe4739 Hindi. Automatic pa rin ang base model pero gasolina at 5 seater lang at may shift lever hindi gaya ng mga diesel variants na 7 seater pero push button. 3 kotse na lang ng honda ang may MT sa ph market: Brio base model, All new BRV base model and Civic Type R.

Comfort? Ever been on a MAZDA? I mean those who don’t know anything about mazda’s level of comfort esp. in long drive must really try it. I used to have an hrv. I’ve driven the crv as well but man… when I first drove a 2016 cx5… even a 2018 crv is way inferior in terms or the overall ride.
CRV is good..but CX5 is way far better..😊
am a diesel user but from what Ive been reading diesel is a dying petroleum type due to its higher carbon footprint. many western countries have already started a deadline from being diesel-free by 2030 / 2035
Honda still has higher resale value than mazda in Philippines. But in Australia its more on Masda.
Youd love the grey (non-metllic) colour of Volvo or Audi than that beige-ish mazda.
