These Corolla Cross reviews gives us a good highlight on what the Innova Hybrid would be. They share the same chasis but one has two more seats
Fun Fact: Both are hybrids. One is series hybrid and the other is a parallel hybrid
Correction “series-parallel hybrid” for the corolla cross
The biggest hurdle for me getting a Nissan Kicks is that it doesn't have a spare tire. It has a fix a flat kit, which is not a good equivalent. I was riding a Tesla with my brother in law in the US and the car tire was punctured by an embedded rock while running in a rural road. The side of tire was slashed. Horrors of horrors, Teslas don't carry a spare tire. We had to wait 9 hours for a tow truck from a big city 100 miles away to come. Now with the horrible conditions of the roads in the Philippines including Metro Manila, chances of getting a flat tire are almost 100%, you will find yourself almost completely helpless if the tire was slashed. At least the hybrid Corolla Cross has a donut tire. Better than nothing, which is the case with the Nissan Kicks.
are you sure it does not have spare tire? ruclips.net/video/nWuzAVCIBj0/видео.html
If one really likes the Kicks.. given that the rear booth is spacious.. maybe one can just carry a spare tire.. then cover it with a board.. .. That's one solution..
Our mirage lasted 5 years w/o getting a flat until we sold it.
Is the space at the back enough to store a full size spare tire?
In my 32 yrs of driving almost daily, i got a flat twice only.
Driving a vehicle with electric motor is more efficient. Internal combustion engines are only efficient at its "sweet spot" in the power curve, wastes a lot of heat (energy) into the engine cooling system, as well as the braking system. An electric motor is efficient throughout its entire RPM range (eliminating the need for shifting gears), and the gasoline generator can run constantly at its peak efficiency range to charge the batteries. Not to mention power recovered by regenerative braking. Series hybrid makes sense.
I would take the Nissan just for not having a complicated gear box, simple engineering is more enjoyable long term....
The Kicks is the overall better car - better looks, bettet tech, and more spacious. Nissan's e-Power's series hybrid tech is a better system than Toyota's - on par when it comes to fuel econony while having much more power. The EV-like drive is unique with the quiet drive and instant torque. Also, to correct Caco, the VE variant already has Nissan Intelligent Mobility, no adaptive cruise control (just regular cruise control), but the essential safety bits are there.
Wait Indonesian version has ACC, imported from Thailand. And I tested it, It can go as low as 25kmh. Not to mention that it's generator is the engine from 2010 nissan march. It can run on RON 90 even 89. No need for expensive fuel like parallel hybrid
More spacious? What.
@@anthonyborja3926 Watch the top gear comparo from a few months back. From the outside, the Corolla Cross looks bigger but the Kicks surprisingly has the bigger cargo area while the 2nd row passenger space is roughly the same.
@@lucky889s9 so the new Nissan Serena c28 e-power can use pertalite ?
@@bataviaborobudurC26 yes, because it's using the same HR12DE. C27, not sure since it is using HR14DDe. But, the spec looks ok because the only difference is 1.4L and longer bore stroke
Truth be told.... that's a great comparo video!
thank you! I've been waiting for this head to head for a long time
Just to highlight the Kicks VE got Nissan Intellegent Mobility which you are currently featuring. It is the base variant EL which does not have that feature
Nicely explained. Especially the part where you clearly differentiate a Hybrid from a self charging EV. People, "Filipinos" tend to find it hard to accept differences if to them it seems similar. Hybrid both ICE and Electric Motor run the wheels. Self charging EV or E-power, the wheels are run solely by the Electric motor. And the ICE only acts as a portable charger since there are not much charging point infras in the country yet.
Or in technical terms: E power is series hybrid. The other is parallel hybrid where both engines can move the wheels
@Hardcore Ladies and in parallel hybrid, you need at least premium fuel. In Kicks, the engine is from 2010 nissan march. It can run on RON 90 fuel. No need for expensive fuel like parallel hybrid
great video bos caco. also, can you please do another review on corolla altis hev if there are any changes on the latest model that would be fun to watch. btw what's the title of the background music from 02:00min to 02:30min? love the vibe.
Thanks for the review Caco! ❤
KICKS kick out CROSS!
I absolutely love the 'e-power' concept!
I was wondering what's the difference in PMS with both hybrid and e powered.
Pls talk about after sales maintenance, how expensive or economical between the 2 cars
I hope AutoDeal also make a review of Hyundai Creta GLS.
When you test the fuel efficiency, were you using the eco mode or just the normal mode?
Ive been in Phillipines and those boxes are unforgetable haha Nice video
This comparo would have been better if Caco used a Kicks VL model (Top Variant) rather than the VE (mid variant)
The starting price for the hybrid cross is wrong too
Excellent comparison.
Great review...many many thanks
That price is a Kick(er), pun intended. 😊 The Cross, however, has that fuel economy going on. Plus probably better space for passengers at the back. A reverse camera can be installed aftermarket so it's not much of a dealbreaker. If it's me, I'd probably go for the top of the line Kicks. Still a lot more affordable, I presume.
... until A LOT of things start breaking down only after a few years...because it's a Nissan 😅 (joke)
@@malcolmpuhawan3695 I've seen decades old Nissans still on the road today. Any brand will break down if not properly maintained. The "Toyota lang ang reliable" monicker is a myth. Longevity through proper maintenance is a must for all cars.
Mid variant kicks is the sweetspot
Yung tipong kapapanood lang ng review ng Kicks then here I was thinking how the lower cost Kicks fares against the higher cost Corolla Cross Hybrid.
Initial cost benefit goes to Nissan, at more or less 400K. If u get the totl, still 200K savings. For me if you are buying these cars to save on fuel, Nissan is it bec 400K saved up front is already a lot of fuel cost saved esp with its smaller ice.
Oh right I forgot, the new Innova has a shared chassis of this Corolla Cross, in fact it is the stretched version of the Corolla Cross.
They should put the Corolla badge alone in the middle and put the cross badge on lower left.
Hmm, so the Kicks is like when you strap a gasoline generator to an EV, a combustion engine with extra steps, hopefull that someday it can be modified to run on pure EV when better battery technology arrives
It’s similar to a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, and works like one but without the plug-in part. 😅
They do have Nissan Leaf for full EV
Technology is already great. We just need Lithium Ion technology to become extremely common until they become cheaper.
Isn't a diesel generator better?
@@AndrewJohnYoung it is on the efficiency part, but it would defeat the purpose of being environmentally friendly. You can't take advantage of the torque of the diesel also so sayang lang.
Is that standard now for toyota having a Micheline tires?
what will happen to these batteries after 5 yrs? can it be replaced.
RAV4 Hybrid vs. Outlander PHEV next? 😎
Sadly, the toyota prius hybrid in the philippines is discontinued and stopped buying and production forever
Hopefully, Nisaan PH will bring X-Trail E-Power
it probably gonna cost 2.5million php
Hoping they bring in the awd version of it, not a watered down version of it.
After warranty repairs, you know we keep cars for as long as 10 years, what would be our options to fixing the engine outside of the dealerships.
I’ve tried the hybrid Suzuki swace taxi in Germany
the link is "somewhere down below, our roads are gonna cross again it doesn't really matter when.
For a daily beater, which would you recommend, all things considered? TIA
mind you they are both hybrid cars, the difference is direct and indirect Engine coupling on the Drivetrains...!
How about battery warranty. Im assuming the kicks battery will degrade faster and how much to replace.
200k php price of better w 8 years warranty salesman said
The Nissan Kicks is a better option in the Philippines. Full stop pediod. I don't have a licence anymore but if I did I would want one. Toyota has the wrong idea and there are those who say it will cost them big time. Especially in those parts of the world where there are chargers. Hey, they survive in the Philippines on Vios taxis and massive SUV's. It's not going to last forever...
Mag sadaggp po ba ng restriction ?
how much fuel average did u get on Kicks?
cross hybrid is way more expensive than kicks vl and cross still got foot parking brake.
what about the parts sourcing and maintenance? from decades of experience, nothing yet beats toyota on parts, maintenance, and service center efficiency and accessibility. not to mention resale value.
I test drove the Cross today, it was meh. The interior is average at best. The car does not feel 2023 at all. I hope to get the chance to test drive kicks soon.
kung magtatagal ba ang battery ng kicks. ?
yung di-gas eh nag tatagal ng 10 to 30years. sobra pa
Bigger trunk p pala kicks kahit smaller overall body
I will buy them both
go buy them
The Corolla cross is larger with more driver's assistance tools. It has more cargo space.
I hope they’d come out with a Kicks that you can plug in like when you’re at your in-law’s house. It’ll make the trip worth it. Just kidding I love my Nanay.
Yuck in laws :p
Nissan kicks has an issue with there aircon compressor. 8-9 owner in thr club same issue. 1 month before you can get the new replacement
*their
Good luck for the costs of rewinding the electric motors. And replacing batteries later on.
This will be good.
The cross looks like a grumpy tito while the kicks looks like a sassy tita. Toyota needs to improve their design
What if some people actually prefer grumpy tito 🤷🏻♂️

Love the Kicks, gonna get one. the Cross looks Bigger.
Wondering if an electric motor will be more efficient if its mated with a transmission.
it will make it less efficient
Unnecessary because electric motors have sufficient torque.
Kaya sa Autodeal ako eh🤘yung iba kasi🥱...
Penge discount pls😄
Nissan E-power bullies Toyota Hybrid Synergy! Ooh! Nice one, Nissan!
Not until today that some owners are experiencing compressor failures and have to wait for a month for the replacement tho.

Nope. Only the nissan leaf can.

Still waiting for the All new Honda BRV real review 🤔
In short.. kicks is the future, the cross is kind of confused..
Kick It for the Nissan Kicks infotainment gets my czennie seal of approval
I prefer the series type of hybrid over the series-parallel hybrid of toyota

The usual question, water wading depth, battery reliability and cost to maintain for the electric system...
I think Casa PMS is twice the cost of the ICE cars.
Wading depth 400mm. Battery reliability for both is enough to last the lifetime of the car.
@@arcaine101actually no. Its still pretty close to ICE engines. Intervals between PMS are longer as well compared to ICE.
@@arcaine101 EV systems don't cost much on PMS. No oil change, no moving gears, no transmission etc.
Are these vehicles exempted from MMDA number coding?
yep
Kicks is considered electric vehicle sa pagkaka alala ko e
Yes for both. For Corolla cross specifically for hybrid model only
nissan has less parts with its simpler design. imagine the maintenance of ice cvt then add the hybrid system, it would be nightmare when it breaks down.
Except that it is a toyota
@@monopolarmaster4262doesn't really make any difference. cars do break down eventually.

kicks 👍
Hi, I just watched this video to find out that the VE variant doesn't have a rear view camera.
Still, the best buy variant for the Kicks would be VE.😥
It's certainly not a cheap car, but considering the fuel economy after considering Christmas traffic, the PHP 1.3 million VE variant can be said to be a bargain sale.😯
The hybrid variant of the Corolla Cross is too expensive. However, Toyota's accumulation of technology and reliability for hybrid cars is one of the best in the world.
Since corolla cross can run by engine and battery, will it continue to work if battery fails? Interested to know if car still run on pure engine only while waiting for battery replacement
Kicks since purely run by battery, i assume if it fails then the car wont run until battery is replaced
Cross will not run if either one fails
Who won?
Super ganda ng kicks in person 🥰🥰🥰

3:59 Those tail lamps are not so “unique.” Red Rear Fender Lamps, which should be visible from the Sides, are Mandatory in North America, along with Amber Front Fender Lamps. The lamps may be separate or integrated with the Parking Lamps wrapped to the side, which they’ve done here.
Take a look at any American import and compare them to Asia/Euro-only cars, you’ll see the Side Fender Lamps are absent from non-US cars.
And what I want to know is how long does that Nissan battery last before it needs replaced and how much? There are now instances of 2012 Teslas needing battery replacements costing $20k-30k.
Nissan kicks ftw!
He he he "STUPENDOUS" is highfaluting word, jaz say it simple so others may comprehend what you're talking. Ty

Kailan release ng vios 2023 sa ph? Hinihintay ko reviewhin dito. Hehe.
nissan cons- 1. what if the electric motor malfunctions its not like with cross it has an option to run using the gas once the battery malfunctions? 2. I heard the battery price costs at less than 300k
nice
What am interested to know - will the battery be affected by our flooded street?
The battery is sealed and inside the cabin. Waterwading should be the same as cars of the sane catergory
An electric motor can be completely sealed because it doesn't need to burn oxygen like an internal combustion engine.
Think of a submarine-- it doesn't use its diesel engines when submerged-- it only uses its electric motors.
I was hoping to hear about the handling in the twisties too. :(
For the Kicks as the suspension is a little bit stiffer, it doesn't roll as much at speed into corners. With peppy acceleration its fun to play around with.
@@CarloPentel I like how you’re able to qualify it. Thank you! Would you happen to know how it compares vs its peers in the sub 1.5M price range?
For me the Corolla Cross makes more sense because if you encountered a problem in your electric hybrid system, your ICE could still bring you home while in Nissan Kicks if your electric hybrid system will encounter a problem, you will need a tow truck to bring you home. Plus the battery of Kicks is more expensive because it has bigger capacity. I assume you will spend more than 700k on battery replacement alone.
@@rudys1209 there was a Nissan mall tour in Mega Mall not too recently. I aske the agent about that and he quoted 180K after warranty.
