Mission Impossible has just been getting better and better (haven't seen the second one). MI 4 and 5 are some of the best action movies of all time. So amazingly good!
And the new movie Fallout is amazing as well!

Mad Max should've easily made the 10. None of them have been even sligtly bad, and Fury Road is easily one of the best action movies of all time.

um Mad Max 1 was so terrible it was a complete shock it got a sequel. 2 and Fury Road were awesome however
You should know your genre. Madmax isn't even Sci-fi or Adventure. It's a pure action series.

Alright, here are my thoughts;
10: I liked the first movie as a guilty pleasure, and I really enjoyed the much later movies.
9: I thought the first two were the best ones. But I did enjoy the last three movies, even if they didn't make a lot of sense.
8: Ah, yes. The greatest adventure series. Oh, and I liked the fourth movie, by the way.
7: I loved these movies.
6: I liked it. It's absolutely entertaining. Even the new 2016 TV series.
5: I love this franchise to death. I haven't encountered a _bad_ movie, well not that I can think of.
4: Hell yeah. These movies were awesome.
3: I love Die Hard. Even if the last movie wasn't all that great.
2: Oh yeah, these were awesome. And even if people consider it the worst movie in the franchise, I still like Mission: Impossible II.
1: Hell Fucking Yes. These movies were kickass.
Honorable Mentions:
Rambo- Loved all four movies.

The Matrix- Thought the first movie was fantastic, the sequels were "meh"

James Bond isn't that much action packed imo, except Craig's james bond movies. It's gentleman action but pretty inventive from time to time.

Me too- still my favs- Sean Connery- Roger Moore- enough said- can still watch again and again
Love Indiana Jones 1, 2, 3,-some of the best movies I have seen in my life- the action, props, everything- Raiders of the Lost Ark- the final scene when the Nazi's got burned to a crisp- I watch that scene, and I still never get tired of watching it
YES! I was so on the edge of my seat, literally about to get triggered if James Bond wasn't mentioned. There'd be no such thing as spy films without the franchise. And I also want to say that Fast and Furious is the closest thing we'll ever have to a live-action Grand Theft Auto series. I mean, they could make an anthology TV series on HBO, but to stay true to the series to please die-hard fans like myself, it'd take a crazy amount of effort -- the fictional brands, fictional cities, etc. would have to be custom-made.
I totally saw number 1 coming! James bond films do have some great action.

i agree for james bond franchise as no.1 since the movies has become iconic to most of movie's genre at all time.. maybe i can sugget watchmojo would make another top 10 action movies franchise... There are still some movies franchise that should be on the list such as expandable, underworld, resident evil, predators, aliens....
How can you say "Fast and the Furious" and "realistic action" in the same sentence without laughing? Those movies are nowhere NEAR realistic. Just no.

Apart from the order and the fact that some of the honorable mentions deserved to be on the list, nice picks. Not too crazy about Bond franchise though.
This is a pretty bad list imho. Here's what I personally think it should have been:
10. Indiana Jones. An old-fashioned breed of action movies that are fun, adventurous, and iconic.
9. Transformers. Groundbreaking CGI and relatively okay story line, and still crushes the box office
8. Mad Max. Fury Road alone was an instant classic and was one of the best action films ever. Can't deny this a spot.
7. Terminator. You cannot have the action movie genre at all without Schwarzenegger. This made all the others happen.
6. Matrix. Revolutionized action movie stuns, fight scenes, and special effects and had a unique story line
5. Bourne. Amazing story line, great cinematography, and dominates the box office. An all-around versatile franchise.
4. Star Wars. You cannot imagine sci-fi action without lasers and space travel without the legacy Star Wars left.
3. Mission: Impossible. Like James Bond, this keeps pumping out movies that still do well and epitomize the genre.
2. MCU. The number of consistent box office hits pumped out for this franchise should secure this a spot, no doubt
1. James Bond. You can't beat the dude with dozens of movies over half a century and still manages to beat his own records.

Fury Road is probably the best Action Scene in cinema, it's one gigantic scene.

Mission Impossible is the #1 action franchise of all time, and even though I absolutely adore a lot of the other franchises - Mission Impossible is far, far beyond whichever series is in second place.

-Die another Day is honestly my favorite with the awesome Aston Martin/Jaguar ice chase, the face to face "for fun" sword combat at the fencing club, Halle Berry as bondgirl, etc
-The World is not Enough with the boat chase at the beginning and then the pipe line bomb which flips the hole story upside down.
-Tomorrow never dies is my least favorite though so...

Love Lethal Weapon movies- love the characters- still watch them- some of the best- Mel Gibson- besides being really cute, gave some great performances, along with Danny Glover, and the rest of the cast. I like that the movies were not just cop movies, but they had heart, friendship, love, family, loss- not boring or predictable- but best of all, when they went after the bad guys- you know the bad guys were done!

I can pretty much answer all of your questions.
Fast and furious over mad max for 3 very simple reasons.
A. mainstream popularity fast and furious i believe has earned more money as a franchise then any other franchise on this list (other then mcu and james bond) where as mad max is very much a nichè series
B. Mad max has 1 great film 1 good film and then 1 people only remember because of tina turner (whilst fast and furious has 2 great films 3 good 1 okay and 1 thats just remembered cause of a 30 second vin diesel cameo) this also applies to the matrix they had 1 great film 1 boring but not awful film and 1 absolute pile of crap
C. Even though highly unlikely fast and furious follow stories that could possibly really happen (The safe scene and basically the whole of the 7th movie though incredible imo could feesably happen where as mad max and the matrix are very fantasy heavy)
Second question mcu because all but 3 of the 20ish movies they have made have been at the very worst good and dark knight tbh idk maybe cause there hasnt been a bad movie in that franchise where terminator has had 3 awful movies and indie well we just wont talk bout the pure awful that was the last indie movie.
Mission impossible over everything but bond cause its stupid non stop brain numming action (personally i agree with you on this one as ive never really like the Mi movies).
Die Hard over terminator cause half good half bad is better the 1/3 good and 2/3s beyond awful plus even though arnie suit the terminator perfectly the dude is a awful actor in general where as bruce willis can actually act.
