And honestly, Heat is definitely in the Top 10 range. Although it starts really slow, when they walk out that bank, Heat is one of THE BEST SHOOTOUTS in movie history.
Heat is not an action film, it’s a crime drama. Just because it has one of the best action scenes in history doesn’t mean it’s an action film when clearly most of the film was character drama.

That said Yippee Kiyaye 💪🏽
Fury Road deserved so much more than just being mentioned alongside Mad Max 2. Honestly Fury Road is probably on top 3 action movies ever made. Its pure cinema . Its why we go to the movies. For me personally it was the greatest experience i had in a movie theater.
@Sandile Mnguni Yeah I can't believe they left out True Lies. It's one of Arnie's best movies. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly could have been here too, but I guess they only wanted one Leone movie.
T2 on top - I show scenes from this film to my English or IT class students when we have subjects on films or graphics, as an example of a very well made movie and special effects. But its just a testament to James Cameron's craftsmanship and the whole cast of the film. And to think that the whole Terminator thing started 'cause Cameron had a dream and sketched a half broken machine, covered in human flesh, crawling on the ground. Life is ever so surprising.

I'm a bit sad that Unstoppable wasn't on the list. Sure it was all 90 miles per hour action from stop to finish, but the cinematography makes the film look so real, it was based off a true story, the sound effects for the train were badass, and the music made it all the more thrilling....
@@santhoshsridhar5887 infinity war was predictable........ Too predictable.....evry one knew the plot b4 it even released.....so was endgame....the time travel theory turned out to be Tru....ND the theory of iron Man die was Tru as well.....that doesn't mean that these movies sucked ....
People didn't know how to process The Matrix? I remember exactly how they processed it, they blamed it for every real life act of violence that happened after its release even though the movie itself wasn't that bad lol.
It was also so unique when it came out that colleges taught courses solely based on it (focusing on philosophy). What other modern movie - all by itself - has that distinction? (none, AFAIK)
80s and 90's were the best time of the movies of the action genre: The one (Jet Li) Die hard (Bruce Willis) The Transporter (Jason Statham) Leon the professional (Jean Reno) Universal soldier (Jean Claude Van Damme) The delta force (Chuck Norris) Under Siege (Steven Segal) Tango & Cash (S. Stallone y K. Russell) The punisher (Thomas Jane) Scarface (Al Pacino) The hittman (Timothy Olyphant), etc
They kind of grandfathered Fury Road in with Road Warrior but I agree, for pacing, adrenaline and action with zero fluff, Fury Road should be not only on the list, but placed somewhere with Robocop (which also excels at the listed qualities).
I'm sorry to say but fallout was predictable as hell. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't the greatest MI movie either. That goes to either the first one or ghost protocol.
Nice list. And your Top 20 is quite solid. Still, I guess you need to make a Top 100 next time. If you add Yojimbo, where is Sanjuro? You add Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat, where is Donnie Yen with IP Man? I also miss The Transporter, Equilibrium, Wonder Woman, Inception, Tenet, LotR: Return of the King, and Hero... to name a few other outstanding movies in no particular order.
How come Black hawk down, , The Specialist, Shooter, BraveHeart, Lord of the rings, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Full metal jacket, Rapid Fire, Wyatt Earp, 3:10 to Yuma, Django, True Lies among others are not in the list?
Because its voted by fans most likely. Thats why good to average movies that are insanely popular like The Dark Knight and MI Fallout are so high on this list.
MJL 11 Marvel movies are action movies. I don’t know why it would be strange to have one on a list of best action movies of all time. Avengers Endgame does happen to be the highest grossing movie of all time. Please explain how me thinking highly enjoyable action movies like the winter soldier don’t deserve to be on this list and how I’m 12 years old
@@Harry_Thomas24 well i guess it's just me, but I liked the old marvel movies better: blade 1 and 2, X-men, spiderman... The MCU feels so childish, nobody gets really hurt (pls dont start about Stark) , too much cgi, too much focused on making money (actually Disney in general with their reboots, remakes nshit) , I appreciate you being a fan, but I can't be one. And yes indeed I shouldn't have said you were 12,ut was the heat of the moment. Oh yeah and I don't think grossing lots if money should be a pillar of how good a movie is, blade hardly made 100million but in my eyes it's better than endgame
Thank you for making this list! Probably my favorite to date! So many great movies highlighted on this list. I grew up on action movies like Con Air, Face Off, The Rock, Speed, Gone in Sixty Seconds. Here are some thoughts: - I was somewhat disappointed that Die Hard didn't make the #1 spot but when I kept saying to myself when was Terminator Judgement Day going to show up, it makes sense. Both movies are really good and are highly rewatch able. It could go either way for #1 and #2. - Thank you for Assault on Precinct however the year you listed it under was the original (1973) and you showed the 2005 version. I really like the premise and setting of that movie and it is almost but forgotten but what an action movie it was. - Many trilogies the second movie makes for an more impactful action movie. You got it right with Terminator: Judgement Day, Mad Max Fury Road: The Road Warrior, and the Dark Knight. I think the original Matrix set up the story of the franchise nicely but Matrix Reloaded was more action packed and had better action. - The Rock has to be higher, I'm sorry. The only time it didn't have action their was comedy infused in between. The action itself was top notch and how it had different action in different locations without the story as coming off as cheesey makes this an easy Top 10 action movie. - When I think of "non stop action" I think of The Raid. The movie has non-stop action. - John Wick, pick whichever one you want, should been in the Top 10. Now you say which one shouldn't, the answer is Indiana Jones or Predator. While their are great classic action movies, John Wick action sequences are out of this world. - Can we all admit that Nicholas Cage in the '90s was what Arnold schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were in the '80s? - No Chuck Norris films. Not that I'm a huge fan but I thought the guy was revered for his action films? - I liked US Marshalls more than the Fugitive. 😉 - Thank you for making this list. With a ranked list like this no one is going to all agree. I get how you gotta give props to older movies like that 1903 movie. Well done!
There's so much wrong with this list, 1 movie per franchise? Cmon man, fallout and gost protocol are all 2 better action movies than con air. And no van damme, this list is a joke
elena79rus my folks were huge action movie fans and I got to see nearly all the classics on vhs at very young age (with them of course) I’m positive they would’ve taken me along to see T2
Staccato T it was re-releases a few years ago and I was finally able to see it in theatres. My all time favourite movie, I cried because I was so happy I got to experience it in theatres finally.
Regarding to the number 41st spot, "The Assault on Precinct 13", I think Watch mojo mistakenly used the footage from the 2005 remake version instead of the 1976 original version. I believe the original 1976 version is the one that Watch mojo picked as the #41 spot, not the remake version. I guess it doesn't really matter--this 1976 movie arguably is not one of the most well known action movies especially when comparing to the other more popular titles on this list.

You forgot about two iconic 90s movies
"Leon the professional" and the True lies"
100% agree, both should be in top 5
I miss Kick-Ass as well.
Leon deserves atleast top 5
True Lies is great
I almost forget about "Barely Hills Cop" such a good movie
wtf it's doing at 49 tho?
BEVERLY HILLS COP
I’m pleased to see the respect shown to the Asian films included on this list esp Hard Boiled, Police Story and special mention of the Killer as those movies influenced an entire era of Hollywood action movies, loved that Aliens made it so high and I’m in agreement, Leon the professional should’ve been here .
You're right. It's like watching a 2-hour movie trailer for an action movie. It's unbelievable.
no, the raid redemption is better
fury road > mm2
The raid
John wick
Die hard
Any rambo movie
T2
Casino royale
Indiana jones clear
Few films that should be recommended
Rush Hour
The Transporter
Jack Reacher
The Expendables
The Negotiator shoulda also been on the list. Samuel L. Jackson killed in this movie!
I will stan Jack Reacher. That opening scene is amazing
@Sandile Mnguni nope. Denzel was not in that movie. Samuel L. was.
@Sandile Mnguni Yeah I can't believe they left out True Lies. It's one of Arnie's best movies. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly could have been here too, but I guess they only wanted one Leone movie.
The Expendables agreed
so happy to see number 41 included. any time i mention it people only remember the remake. easily one of the most underrated action movies ever.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 will forever be my all time favorite action film. The fight scenes were badass.
Almost a perfect movie!
Those movies were overated trash. Foh
Those movies were overated trash. Foh
I had my “No Terminator 2” rage message typed and ready.
What about "big trouble in little china." Does no one care about it anymore? 😭😭
Shit forgot that! Totally agree with you👍🏻
Yeeees! Knew there was a few missing.
Totally
i know right?
It's an action comedy. It's a parody of the Heroes Journey
Mission Impossible Fallout should be top 10. AT LEAST
Nah, both Ghost protocol and Rogue nation were better.
@@santhoshsridhar5887
Yes bro
can’t agree more
Yeah widely touted as best action of the decade along with fury road, it should've been higher
I agree. It wasn’t just the best mission impossible film; it was one of the best action films.
So happy you added mad max 2 to the list, well done
"Hey. Uh, Don't I know you from some place?"
"Nah man, that ain't me. I'm from Buffalo."
This list is, by far, the most agreeable list I’ve seen you guys put out.

*No love for JCVD? Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Universal Soldier !!!!!!!*
What About Replicant (2001).
Hard Target!
No Steven Seagal movies either. Shame on WM!
A great lists of movies in my favorite genre. Loved so many of the movies listed
watchmojo: # 1 Terminator 2: judgment day
Me: well, they finally got something right
I know, like when i saw dark knight 8,i was mad, until t2 was number 1.
@@courtneycarter8125 me too, the dark knight needs to be top 5 at least
@@olivergreer7514 as a movie,not for a action packed film.
@@courtneycarter8125 for sure

Die Hard's all three: an Action, Christmas, and a Classic movie.
The real list

8. Ronin 10/10
7. Mission impossible Fallout 10/10
6. Jack Reacher 10/10
5. Goldeneye 10/10

3. Collateral 11/10
2. The Bourne Ultimatum 12/10
1. The Matrix 15/10
"from the major award bodies" reminds me of a certain iconic major award, the leg lamp
Ok Finally I agree. Terminator 2 Best Action movie of all time period.
I'm a bit sad that Unstoppable wasn't on the list. Sure it was all 90 miles per hour action from stop to finish, but the cinematography makes the film look so real, it was based off a true story, the sound effects for the train were badass, and the music made it all the more thrilling....
Oh that movie was amazing
My favorite is John Wick, we will see him in the 4th installment in 2022.
John wick is over action packed and a single man can't kill such huge no. Of enemies.
@@hemantojha2850 Well that is the whole point, he is the person you send to kill the boogeyman, what did you expected😂
I'm biggest Fan
Have you seen Raid Redemption? 1 and 2
2021
THE RAID deserves to be in the top ten. It was a ground-breaking action movie at the time.
Yes
yes, but sadly they say about influence, when southeast Asian movies just lack viewer, so many people didn't see this movie yet
@@rizalrhamdhan I'm still wanna see The Raid 3 Trailer
Definitely
Yes, but it still seems to underestimate Indonesia's most famous southeast Asian film
Die Hard should have been 1 but I was happy to see Aliens in the top 10.
i agree with aliens, but i prefer terminator 2
To me Cliffhanger should be in this list.
I Think It's The Greatest Sylvester Stallone Movie Ever.
Yes I agree with you
And Eraser with Arnold Schwarzeneggar (1996)
For me the scene where the cars drive out of the cargo plane is what makes furious 7 so memorable
Going to show a clip from the remake of Assault on Precinct 13 instead of the one you listed?
Mission Impossible Fallout, Mad Max Fury Road, and Diehard are my top action films. Along with casino royale
TOM CRUISE = LEGEND 😍
@Luke Sanchez uhmm....no it's not I think it's underrated actually.......it's one of the best action movie that has been released recently.....
Dude...Have you seen Raid 1 and Raid 2..???
@@user-cs1ep6jj2o I mean, mission impossible 4, 5 and 1 are much better than fallout. Fallout was predictable was hell.
NAW U NEED TO SEE RAID Redemption
It was also so unique when it came out that colleges taught courses solely based on it (focusing on philosophy). What other modern movie - all by itself - has that distinction? (none, AFAIK)
Great list. I would have added 'Kung Fu Hustle', 'Ip Man' and Rambo 2
No 💩 Ip Man should be number 1!!
I skipped the whole list sure that T2 Is No. 1
I was right
Omg I did the same thing lol
C'mon not a Single Van Damme film. You've got to be kidding me.
Hard target Bruh🤦🏿♂️
Fck Segal and Norris, Van Damme is best: bloodsport, kickboxer
in hell and kickboxer
Which Van Damme movies do you recommend in my action movie collection that are considered action I want only action not sci fi or others
Glad Speed, Point Break, John Wick and Matrix are ALL on here👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
For me Mad Max fury road is at least top 5. Instant Classic.
Agreed
I like road warrior more but mist people like fury road better
They did say that they're only including one movie per franchise.
On top
Movies like MI:Fallout , The Bourne Ultimatum , John Wick, The Raid are really low on the list
Which 'The Raid'?
@@rogerchoate8899 Redemption
not john wick

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT IS THE BEST 🤚
@@scottbarkley496
Not In My Top
Braveheart, Apocalypse Now, True Lies, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. These deserved to be on this list.
But. Those. Aren’t. Action. Movies?
80s and 90's were the best time of the movies of the action genre:
The one (Jet Li)
Die hard (Bruce Willis)
The Transporter (Jason Statham)
Leon the professional (Jean Reno)
Universal soldier (Jean Claude Van Damme)
The delta force (Chuck Norris)
Under Siege (Steven Segal)
Tango & Cash (S. Stallone y K. Russell)
The punisher (Thomas Jane)
Scarface (Al Pacino)
The hittman (Timothy Olyphant), etc
Transporter is from 2002
How could you not have mad Max Fury Road on this list????
They kind of grandfathered Fury Road in with Road Warrior but I agree, for pacing, adrenaline and action with zero fluff, Fury Road should be not only on the list, but placed somewhere with Robocop (which also excels at the listed qualities).
Nostalgia definitely played a part, I think as an action film, Fury Road is far superior to Road Warrior.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT NUMBER 39 ???? WTF 😂
EASILY TOP 3 🤚
Sarah Ali yes it was jus him doin stunts ofc
Someone has taste 👌🏻
They just cited 50 movies in no particular order.
Ur high
I'm sorry to say but fallout was predictable as hell. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't the greatest MI movie either. That goes to either the first one or ghost protocol.
Casino royale to me is the best action movie ever, it has everything.
.....
Yeah skyfall too should be there
👍 Casino Royale is a great movie!
Love the list but how you going to leave off Antonio Banderas in Desperado classic action movie
they prefare put coreen movie that no one cares
Blade should have made the top 50.
Yes
You damn right
💯%
They lost some credibility with me with that!
I can honestly say that I've watched all of these movies except 5, your choice for number one is spot on. Thanks 😊
SHOUT OUT FOR THE DARK KNIGHT, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, JAMES BOND AND JOHN WICK
Face Off is higher than Bourn and MI ? Who makes this list?
Face off, shouldn't even be on the list it's OK due to the concept of switching faces apart from that it's pretty shit.
Face Off should be in comedy list
seraby 💯
@@kevinthatcher2376 Finally, I had to go through 20 comments before I got to the stinker on this list. Face Off is horrible in every way.
Face off is a brilliant film with great direction from John woo, if you don’t like it that’s fine but it is far from horrible.
Mission Impossible is easily top 20 no argue in that.
And dark knight deserved no 1 it has the highest rating
Which one?
BrownColoredAmericanChristian I would pick fallout
Nah
Ghost Protocol and the first mission impossible movie are superior to Fallout in any way imaginable. Change my mind.😎
What about Independence Day and men in black?
That is classified as sci fi movies
How come Black hawk down, , The Specialist, Shooter, BraveHeart, Lord of the rings, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Full metal jacket, Rapid Fire, Wyatt Earp, 3:10 to Yuma, Django, True Lies among others are not in the list?
Because its voted by fans most likely. Thats why good to average movies that are insanely popular like The Dark Knight and MI Fallout are so high on this list.
Most or none are mainly from the action genre, just sub-genres.
Should’ve been a Marvel film here. I would pick the Winter Soldier because it feels most action movie-y.
THANK YOU, I was really surprised that winter soldier wasn’t here
I will have said either Winter Soldier, Captain America Civil War, Infinity War or Endgame
Cmon 'Marvel', how old are u 12?
Here are some thoughts:
- I was somewhat disappointed that Die Hard didn't make the #1 spot but when I kept saying to myself when was Terminator Judgement Day going to show up, it makes sense.
- Thank you for making this list. With a ranked list like this no one is going to all agree. I get how you gotta give props to older movies like that 1903 movie. Well done!
The great train robbery is a very first action movie ever made, give this god of action genre a credit
Who is Fallout so low? Top 10 Easily
I also think that fallout deserveds much better place
She pick the movies with critical acclaim, some of those doesn't consider action movies though
There's so much wrong with this list, 1 movie per franchise? Cmon man, fallout and gost protocol are all 2 better action movies than con air. And no van damme, this list is a joke
thank you. I have always felt that Ghost Protocol was so underrated and this list just showed it again
tbh 1 per franchise is good. variety is always better
Put the bunny back in the box...😑
Happy to see an Indonesia film on the list... Really great action. Banned in Malaysia because to gore 😂😂😂
I wish I was born later in the 80s to experience T2 in theaters
Luke Sanchez beautiful point. I’m glad we had our movie saga event with the mcu
I saw it opening night and went back the next day with my girlfriend. She hated this type of movie but she enjoyed the hell out of that one.
You should have been born in the 70s to be able to do it.
elena79rus my folks were huge action movie fans and I got to see nearly all the classics on vhs at very young age (with them of course) I’m positive they would’ve taken me along to see T2
So that's why I saw Laurence Fishburne, 'cause he is not in the original
They did a good job with this list I really do wish though they'd do a part 2 to this video and do another top 50 .
