You are an extraordinary art teacher…I thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and talent. And your wonderful sense of humour is also very appreciated! I can’t wait to try out this new painting 😊
Hi David - just wonderful to watch you paint. I learn so much from studying your style and hope to include a few touches in my own art. Best wishes -Paul 😎😎
Thanks so much for sharing this lesson, Richard Schmid was a great talented artist and has so many beautiful paintings. You did a wonderful job . The trees and really all of your painting is outstanding .
Barns are my thing, loVed this one, of all the artists I watch you are my favorite and I strive to one day make my art similar to your loose style, thank you❣️
Your painting of the old barn was fun to watch and enjoyed seeing you correct the architecture of the barn, putting in lines and scraping edges with your knife and putting streaky colors into the barn as well. You added an interesting little door in the center of the barn and liked the sparks of yellow into the background and also into the bushes in front of your barn. I thought your fence added another final interesting element along with pathways and grasses. Another great painting of yours! I will look into your benefit sale on November 6th for The Jansen Art Foundation.
Beautiful & enchanting David!!! I love how you talk with your viewers so naturally with tons of teaching techniques. I'm going to have fun with this one too! Thank you!
Dear David -- First -- it always brightens my day to see you! And.... Your demonstration of those special somethings that underpin the Richard Schmid Grand Manner technique is nothing less than mesmerizing. I mean it! I'm sitting here fascinated as I'm watching and listening to you narrate the kind of metacognition that's driving your artistic decisions. I paused the video at one hour because I was eager to get a comment down. I'm already a day later than your other followers. (But I may add to this -- so please don't be surprised if "edited" pops up.) Very best wishes to you and yours. Hope you had a fun Halloween with your grandbabies. JV
I don’t know if this will work, but.. Can someone please explain why the membership are gone from RUclips? I was going to join some months ago, but ended up in hospital for a while, and now the option is gone. I was encouraged to join here and not on the website. Is something wrong with my RUclips perhaps? Thank you so much in advance 🙏😅
Hi Memberships are still there. RUclips moves them around from time to time. Make sure you are signed in, click this link. You will see the "Join" button next to my photo. www.youtube.com/@JansenArtEducation/membership
Not being critical or anything however, I like how the negative space draws the attention into the barn but did you perhaps run out of time and didn't finish painting in the lower right corner? I love the overall impressionistic feel of the piece but it looks unfinished or unbalanced. Perhaps an old covered wagon, minus the cover would really enhance it! :D Stay safe and Happy Holidays...just make sure you keep them all covered! 😁
Hi There are the photos there that I used. Did you see the other videos how to transfer a photo to a painting with transfer paper? Watch this video at about 4 minutes. I show how to transfer a photo to your surface. ruclips.net/video/e_wL64A4_9E/видео.html Here is the photo ruclips.net/channel/UCjbe__QVDXQP2PNkClOr0UAcommunity?lb=Ugkx5kknaE_v31oKMfp1KgD-MJGGlc5NqRTA If you need a copy of it, email me at D.Jansen@aol.com and I will send it via email.

LOL. Yes, it is a great old world color. I love it. Works very well in this painting.
Appreciate to show palette work.

Where do I find a tracing for the barn. Becky
I like my Barns to have some sort of character to them so I paint them falling down instead of perfect 😮
Not being critical or anything however, I like how the negative space draws the attention into the barn but did you perhaps run out of time and didn't finish painting in the lower right corner? I like to paint my Barns falling down ! I don’t like them to perfect.
I am unable to find ANY of Richard Smith's artworks or his books on tone as David mentioned. Is anyone able to help me?
Richard Schmid. Alla Prima is the book that goes into tones. www.richardschmid.com/category-s/1824.htm

What do you mean by 'holiday', David?
Holiday is an area of the canvas where the paint has not touched yet. If your painting on a white ground, leaving holidays can be distracting.
