    Incredible video! I'm not completely comfortable with when to use Colossus or when to use Expedition Map. Would love to have you break down why we play the single copies of each and why they are important. Thanks again for all the great Amulet content!

      The Map is for when we have Amulet(s) but are missing bounceland. It also allows us to chain Sagas against grindy decks or tutor for bullet lands when relevant, such as Cavern to make sure our Titan resolves, Bog against Living End, Boseiju for Leyline Binding/etc, or Valakut if we can just win through Dryad.
      Colossus is primarily for cases where you have 3+ lands in hand and want to play around Solitude or removal spells. You can certainly play a Cultivator with 2 or less lands lined up, but it's usually risky while 3 almost always gets there in my experience. It's also a great way to refill your hand against control/4c decks. It also gives you a easy way to beat extraction effects if you lose access to Titan.

    Love seeing the guide. The reason i found this channel was the old power point. Like i heard of this deck before and it sounded so weird to me as "2 lands on ETB and attack" didnt seem that op to me but its cool to see how it combos off. I also like how flexible the deck seems to be as you can just search for some silver bullet lands.
    Also its fun to just watch you pilot the deck.

    Great video. The only thing I disagree with is the siding out of summoner’s pact vs control.
    It lets you trade up in mana for a counterspell, so can be used to overload your opponent’s open mana. It is also extremely powerful if you run 1 uncounterable green creature that is hard to remove, since they now must answer your 0 mana spell instead of your threat, forcing them to trade down on mana, instead of up.
    Also, one thing I didn’t see mentioned is that valakut checks on etb and resolution, so how you stack triggers can sometimes matter. For example if you find valakut and a bounce when you have 4 lands in play, you could miss out on the damage if you stack them wrong (this line doesn’t come up often, but it can be the difference between winning and losing).
    A more complicated tip is mentioning that dryad is an “answer” to blood moon if used after, so sometimes holding it back in those matchups is the correct play.
    Another one worth mentioning is that crumbling vestige is essentially a Boris garrison you don’t need to pick up with a dryad in play, so it can sometimes be used for extra damage if it lets you stay at 4 lands instead of 3.
    That’s everything I can think of off the top of my head, if I think of anything else not mentioned, I’ll post it here.

    • @nathanbarry2840
      @nathanbarry2840 9 месяцев назад +2

      Oh also, don’t use explore or the one rings draw effects for the turn until after swinging with your titans if possible, to avoid drawing into slayers stronghold.
      I’ve lost a few games from that misplay before.

    • @redfacedmenace
      @redfacedmenace  9 месяцев назад +1

      These are all great tips, thanks for helping everyone out!
      SPact only trades up on mana if they actually HAVE to counter it. Otherwise it's worse than just jamming a threat because it'll tap you out. This means having Cavern, but they don't even have to worry if they have Subtlety or Dress Down so it's not great.

    • @nathanbarry2840
      @nathanbarry2840 9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, my phrasing might have been wrong on that. If you can force them to answer the pact instead of what you found, it is good, threat density always helps against control too.
      Cards like Aether gust and subtlety that don’t actually counter are a little hard to play around, so I see your point there.
      I think with uncounterable threats in the deck as targets or a cavern in play, it becomes a card they must answer, that was my main point.

    My thought for the Azusa version of puzzle #2:
    Simic (float and bounce it back to hand) - UG
    Tap Sunhome - UGC
    Cast Azusa - no mana floating
    Replay Simic twice (floating and bouncing each time) - UUGG
    Activate Garenbrig, cast Prime Time.

    If I have 2 Dryads in play will I be able to play 3 total lands that turn? Or will they both check 1 additional land has been played not allowing for the 3rd.

    And now the Castle Garenbrig is too slow? Because I dont see it in any list

    • @redfacedmenace
      @redfacedmenace  8 месяцев назад +1

      It's really a shame that Castle isn't played much these days! There's nothing objectively wrong with the card, it's still very good. It's just that the room in the main 60 is really squeezed tight, and cards like Mycosynth, Cavern of Souls, Urza's Saga, Boseijus, etc. have a stronger impact on the way games play out than the extra consistency Castle brings. There's simply not enough room to fit all the lands we want, and Castle rarely makes the cut compared to the rest.

    how is the matchup vs 4 color control?

    • @redfacedmenace
      @redfacedmenace  9 месяцев назад

      The general consensus is that it’s even or close to favorable for Amulet. I don’t know how, since I can never seem to win against them. But that’s what some people I trust have said, and the data from big events seems to corroborate that.

  • @villjess77
    @villjess77 5 месяцев назад

    I don't get how slayer's stronghold can be tapped twice for a T2 win. Will the Amulet see that it entered "tapped" because we use the ability before the trigger?

    • @redfacedmenace
      @redfacedmenace  5 месяцев назад

      The T2 win requires 2 Amulets. That doubles the number of untaps because each Amulet makes its own untap trigger.

    • @redfacedmenace
      @redfacedmenace  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, that is true. I actually point that out while discussing the line. That was the whole point of putting it into the video -- to show that the counting method doesn't account for colors of mana, just total amount.

  • @LakeVermilionDreams

    Don't call Engineered Explosives a Zero-cost card! It is NOT! It cannot be searched for by Saga! It costs X, but has a MANA VALUE of zero while anywhere but the stack. That's a key distinction, allowing it to be found with TWest but not with Saga!
