You mention you can't use mana counters while playing competitive, do you really just memorize the mana you have and that you have spent? Let's say you play Cultivator Colossus and you drop 6 lands with 3 amulets, you and your opponent just memorize the exact mana? Can't there be some misunderstandig like half way through your turn, your opponent thinks you have a certain amount and you think you have a different amount or different colors ..
