- Formula Drift Irwindale! In the last event of the season, Matt's Drift Corvette catches on fire and Odi -Lord of Proximity- rips his 240SX's bumper off on the back of Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR Mustang. Also, James Pumphrey and Nolan Sykes. 😅

I had the immense pleasure of meeting and drifting with Matt Field for a few months a couple years back right when he was starting to become a big name driver on the FD tour. I wont say where, but him and our crew were hitting some sketchy mountain roads and this guy was just going all out during the offseason. Matt clipped a corner a bit too hard and snapped a tie rod on the mountain prolly around 2 or 3 AM, and he just busts out a fat box of new tie rods and got it swapped out in a matter of MINUTES. Matt is literally a local legend because of the fame he's garnished and the memories we made with this savage mobbing up the local mountain roads. I doubt he remembers me, but I got A LOT of footage of him tearing it up that Im saving for a good video edit. Can't wait to meet him again, definitely one of the most genuine dudes ive met while drifting the roads. I drive by his house every now and then just to see what kind of sweet projects hes got in his driveway

One of the great things about running an older car that breaks all the time is that you know exactly what to fix the moment something goes boom judging by what happened when it went boom.

If u rip off the bumper the car would be lighter yeah, but that would affect the arrow of the car. Thus causing them to have less down force. So a better solution would be to make the bumper more sturdy so that it stays on the car. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They dont bc it will make the gas tank more exposed and the chassi so the car can get totalled easily
@@gojeanplayz8339 I think some of them replace bumpers with bash bars. More sturdy, especial if they hit a wall or something.
@@noobpyxl I'm pretty sure they use fuel cells and remove the gas tanks for safety.

I met matt years ago. I guess my uncle was friends with him for several years. He brought some crazy loud rx7 on a trailer to my uncle’s house and it was amazing to say the least lol.
You can see their car in Fast And Furious : Tokyo Drift in the scence where there are a whole bunch of cars drifting down a mountain at night
