12:02 My natural move would be G3 and according to the database, that would give me a 33% chance of winning. I think that would be a bit optimistic because I only ever play against chess engines. So if I ever get to a 33% win rate I'd be a genius.
“Knightmare” was best ever play on words I’ve heard my entire life. Provided great instructional video here. I play often this gambit. I was advised years ago I shouldn’t spend time - as a beginner - with the King’s Gambit; however, I play beginners and I have, say, won 80% of my games with this opening and I’ve played it often enough that I wear out “stronger” opponents because, as you demonstrated, I’ve developed the center of my board while by definition of gambit accepted their board is scattered to edge. I’m a say 1375 player and I defeated twice a say 1600 player a few July 4th weekends ago. I was the buzz of the gathering after - before a growing audience - I won the twice with this opening.and once trading pieces to clear an excruciatingly closed board and promoting a pawn. This is indeed my favorite of your videos.
I was shocked when i saw the first sequence. That's exactly how one of my games went a few weeks ago, they resigned after the fork. I didnt even know that was a well known strategy I thought I came up with it, lol.
Trap 2 is interesting because it is a version of the normal trap you get if you go for the Muzio, but yours is in the main line. The Muzio version is 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 4. Bc4 f6 5. Nxg5 fxg5 6. Qh5+ Ke7 7. Qf7+ Kd6 8. Qd5+ Ke7 9. Qe5# 1-0 I think I've won more games with this trap than any other position. but I've also lost a lot of games going for the knight sac in other kings gambit lines where where opponent has played F3, where it either partly works but does not lead to mate or simply doesn't work. Be warned if you go for the sac and black is 1-2 moves deeper in then you really need to calculate 3-5 moves in front to figure out whether you are losing or winning .
I'll never forget this video, I can't thank you enough for single-handedly teaching me the opening that makes me guaranteed to win as white in most matches to finally escape the 1200 Prison and roam free in the world of 1300s
Fantastic video . I am actually 2100 rated, but I don’t know opening theory and I use my experience and board vision. Gonna go hard on learning kings gambit in details
I really appreciate your content, it‘s great. It‘s just super annoying when playing games after watching these videos my opponents quite literally never play the moves required to apply these traps. Like I do get the position at 0:55 every now and then but no one plays Nd4 here, rather Nf6 which kills any of the initiative for white.
Thank you for the nice tips, I was looking exactly for this kind of opening as it fits my style of play. My new favorite opening at 1600-1700 level on lichess! PS: at 8:37, 9. Nd5?? by white is not an "interesting move", it's a big blunder and white is losing completely after 9... Be7, developing and gaining a valuable tempo on the white Queen when black is already a rook up and already has a winning game.
I learned this king gambit, and from 700 I turned in 1000 elo in few weeks, and the only wins with white are with this opening! My inspiration was Florin Gheorghiu! The one that beat Bobby Fisher ! Obviously I didn’t learn the opening from this video
For all those thinking these traps don't work - They absolutely do! Which is why Igor is also telling you the probability of winning based on a database of real games played. It goes without saying there's also improvisation, not simply memory. They work because you are actually relying on the opponent playing 'sensibly' for a 700-1000 rated player (not like a 2000 rated one). There are several other traps in various openings that are almost unstoppable for a lower rated player, even GMs fall prey to them.
As you get higher rated more often you will see the falkbeer counter gambit which is just annoying for white, you really need to learn this line well if you want to play the KG as your main weapon . There are a lot of different theories about what is the best defence objectively, Nepo is the leading kings gambit expert and I think he thinks G5 is the best. But that line is good for white in most cases unless you know a huge amount of theory. The harder defence to meet is the Fischer defence which is 3d6 preparing G5. D6 prevents the knight from going forward. Technically white is slightly better in the main computer line but that involves you playing h5 and then knight back to it's starting square and it you play that as a non GM you will probably just lose. I personally go for a Muzio type line instead with nc3 g5 d4 and you let them take your knight. Gives white a fun game .
Trap 3: Checkmate by minor pieces does not work. When 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 4. Nc3 g4 5. Ne5 Qh4+ 6. g3 fxg3 7. Qxg4 g2+ 8. Qxh4 gxh1=Q. 9. Nd5. Now ... Be7 prevents mate because 10. Nxc7+ provides an escape square for black and threatens to take Knight or Queen. But, you need to do: 10. Qh5 threatening Qxf7+ on the next move
Igor should give us some ideas on the Kings gambit declined,1.e4e5 2.f4 Bc5 in which Black doesn't need to defend his e-pawn,because after 3.fe? Qh4+! wins.
in 100-200 elo almost everyone knows king's gambit. they know it from a mile what it is about or do I play against chat gpt or other cheating method users?
Play kings gambit enough you’ll see about every response your opponents make to be consistently the same ones therefore the traps are easiest in this opening.
Unless the 1500 learns Falkbeer’s Countergambit. Now it’s the King’s Gambit players who are out of theory. Bc5 King’s Gambit Decline is also playable and rare enough to put white out of theory as well. Plenty of 1500 knows those lines.
In trap 3, no one is ever going to play knight a6 and if they play the more regular knight c6, then none of that works at all, as they have both knights covering e6. So this trap will literally never happen in the real world. You said knight move to a6 so fast too, as if you knew it was a blunder that will never be played and you wanted to skip by that quickly.
These types of video are a True "fake". I mean he is great and I learn a lot from him, but he is always making a wrong hypothesis on the challengers' move. When I play following his steps two possibilities: 1) every challenger saw the same video and block me, 2) all the hypotheses are wrong, and they are collaborative hypotheses. Solution: Looking at these videos is fine to look at one single variant, usually never played. I would call them the blunder's variant. U have to study all the other variants, but... it will cost too much effort. This is why there are few Masters and infinite beginners.
couldn't king just go up one square instead of taking the rook? then rook takes queen, room takes rook, next move you have whites other rook and you're down a queen but have two rooks?

Ok.
@ 10:51 Q-F6 is ineffective?

Please Igor make a video on the Catalan. I’ve been playing and it pretty good. I would love to see your ideas on the Catalan
I was shocked when i saw the first sequence. That's exactly how one of my games went a few weeks ago, they resigned after the fork. I didnt even know that was a well known strategy I thought I came up with it, lol.
Great video. I wish I could remember 95% of it in a game situation.
I bet if i try it in my 600elo, i will be devastated 😂
And learn from your mistakes, eventually you will improve 😊
I've come 1000+ elo from 400 😇
Gotta play the opening to learn the ppening.
Me with 300 elo:
These attacks are pretty easy to execute. Even if you forget some of the checkmating patterns you can pickup decisive material advantage
At times... But at least you won t fall for it
Trap 2 is interesting because it is a version of the normal trap you get if you go for the Muzio, but yours is in the main line. The Muzio version is
1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 4. Bc4 f6 5. Nxg5 fxg5 6. Qh5+ Ke7 7. Qf7+ Kd6 8. Qd5+ Ke7 9. Qe5# 1-0

Be warned if you go for the sac and black is 1-2 moves deeper in then you really need to calculate 3-5 moves in front to figure out whether you are losing or winning .
Thanks Igor, as always your explanations are the best! Happy New Year

Thank you GM Igor for such informative videos.
GM Igor is the first teacher who showed me how to use the Kings Gambit in less than half an hour.
I lost to this in work and now im obsessed w knowing more of it
Stockfish appropriating your content! Great!
True
Great grandmaster ideas loved by me Igor your theory is really great
The best chess video I have ever seen. Great explanation, exploring most common variations and showing how to make a trap for opponent. Great work 👏🏻
Fantastic video . I am actually 2100 rated, but I don’t know opening theory and I use my experience and board vision. Gonna go hard on learning kings gambit in details
Great instruction, thanks.
Not that I have the skills to apply in real life!
Really want to try it
What if the oppenent plays queen D7 instead of the biship pin?
I really appreciate your content, it‘s great. It‘s just super annoying when playing games after watching these videos my opponents quite literally never play the moves required to apply these traps.
Like I do get the position at 0:55 every now and then but no one plays Nd4 here, rather Nf6 which kills any of the initiative for white.
Same🤣💀
Well they are traps. It’s not a foolproof strategy.
Thank you for the nice tips, I was looking exactly for this kind of opening as it fits my style of play. My new favorite opening at 1600-1700 level on lichess!

Can you show me king's gamit accepted: Gama gambit trap?
13:19 Wouldn't black developing their other knight prevent that fork?
Too bad nobody every plays what i want them to in blitz
There are so many alternatives for black to trap three, I don’t think it’s very realistic
I learned this king gambit, and from 700 I turned in 1000 elo in few weeks, and the only wins with white are with this opening! My inspiration was Florin Gheorghiu! The one that beat Bobby Fisher ! Obviously I didn’t learn the opening from this video
Your teaching way is outstanding,Sir😊
thank you. you helped me a lot
Glad to hear that!
What to do after pawn f4 if black plays qh4 check?
It's really interesting to see the traps from Whites perspective. Please make a video on how to play against the Kings Gambit af Black.
He made a video about how to play against the King's Gambit.
It's called: Falkbeer Counter-Gambit.
It's true.
I am not joking.
@@farouqbaiti4315If everyone plays the Falkbeer it will kill the King’s Gambit😢
For all those thinking these traps don't work - They absolutely do! Which is why Igor is also telling you the probability of winning based on a database of real games played.

Another awesome video Igor, thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
When the teacher teaches you well and you teach in the same way that he does, but the exam paper : 🐸🐸
Try the soller gambit
Best opening ever. I never loos whe i hawe chance do it. What is defence for it ?

I'm watching this so I don't get embarrassed by it... I'll be able to refute it 😅
Which software is that you used
Love it:
Knight-mare!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Igor should give us some ideas on the Kings gambit declined,1.e4e5 2.f4 Bc5 in which Black doesn't need to defend his e-pawn,because after 3.fe? Qh4+! wins.
Forever chess ♟️👍
I'm stock in 1600 can you give an advice or give me any openings
What about other openings?
in 100-200 elo almost everyone knows king's gambit. they know it from a mile what it is about or do I play against chat gpt or other cheating method users?
Most laughs I ever got with all the forks! I will have to try this on the bots. Thanks Igor!
What if black goes e5,d5 ? 😊
Thanks
King’s gambit has been my favourite since a long time now….
Why not Black directly place Queen for quick Check to white?
Excellent.
Many thanks!
that’s the thing they show us these traps but that’s only if the opponent make the same moves
i always watched your videos
Fun fact:
Stockfish says that playing the king's gambit is an "inacurracy".
Only if my opponent does these things😂😂😂😂
He often does
Play kings gambit enough you’ll see about every response your opponents make to be consistently the same ones therefore the traps are easiest in this opening.
Yeah and it's happen sometimes
Some traps are just repeated.
But thankfully, there is a new trap which is the last trap.
When 1500s see the King's Gambit their hearts drop in terror and dread as their opening knowledge slips away 😅
Unless the 1500 learns Falkbeer’s Countergambit. Now it’s the King’s Gambit players who are out of theory. Bc5 King’s Gambit Decline is also playable and rare enough to put white out of theory as well. Plenty of 1500 knows those lines.
Here is my game in King’s gambit accepted where I won in 13 moves as black against 1900 elo
ruclips.net/user/shortszsPU3uxVkso?si=Jb-oSMUT0tpsYG3D
Nice checkate
Fisher played the King's gambit against the First computer Comp Greenblatt. He won it.
What if they not takken the bishop
Somebody please tell me name of one best and strong opening for white and black..which you guys personally tried and succeeded ❤
Thanks Igor.
11:27 I play with 400s 😂 they usually cant see anything
If the knight isn’t tempted after white castles and brings out his own knight to protect his bishop then it’s the end for white?😊
Tnx
So far, every time I go knight to F3. they go bishop to E7
Bro just 😂 tried some trick in less than 2minutes the opponent resigned
In trap 3, no one is ever going to play knight a6 and if they play the more regular knight c6, then none of that works at all, as they have both knights covering e6. So this trap will literally never happen in the real world. You said knight move to a6 so fast too, as if you knew it was a blunder that will never be played and you wanted to skip by that quickly.
If knight didn't play a6, then it's checkmate by white knight c7
🙏 K.Kumar.
Sir please send some videos in Hindi

❤
I cant trick the ai. Hahaha
Nice video., now delete this video!!! lol
I enjoy your videos a lot, but I feel like you take the adversary for a dumbass haha
Why he talk like diat?
Kings Gambit always loses for White
Black accepts and then does B-K2
I've never lost a game playing Black against Kings Gambit
Under 1000 to 1200 elo it can maybe good against certain players but above 1200 elo if use this RUclips tricks your ass will 🩸.😂😂
Gosh, why can't I make it look so easy? (Don't say it: because I'm an idiot.) (With all respect to the fellow idiots out there.)
5:16 Kg4 ?
