    Excellent video, I've been using one of those led head type lamps, the type you might use when working up in in a loft, ideal for spotting spots that need plastering as you cast your eye over the area, as the light follows your line of view. Ideal too for when painting a ceiling to see where you might have missed.

    This has been one of the most informative and illuminating videos I've watched on painting. Thank you for such a clear and concise explanation of how to do things properly and with care.

    Great light that... got the same one in the back of my van... don’t give out anywhere near the same heat a halogen one does... no more accidental burns off the light... the noise of your sanding thru my earphones.... proper fingernail down blackboard effect haha! Always an eye for the perfect preparation you two! Nice one! Marc.

    Never thought of using a squrtie bottle to mix the filler ,great idea

    I picked up a rechargeable one of these lamps - love it - no cables is a godsend sometimes!
    Am just off to put a first coat on a new build and am going to try the Screwfix Paint for Bare Plaster as the client is pushed for time before 2nd fix carpentry - I doubt you've ever used it being a hardcore PVA/mist coat crew, but would be curious to know.
    All the best - hope you're keeping well and as always, thanks for the uploads.

      @@PaintingandDecorating Surely you put a coat of dilute PVA on first?! Next you'll be telling us you don't bother with expanding foam!!

      @@colliedogjoy No it was that large and the customer wanted to save money.. mist coating does work just slow and messy.

    Do you ever use Toupret mate? In my opinion it's superior to Polyfilla.

    Do you not get sick and tired of mixing your filler all the time ? Do you ever use onetime lightweight ready mixed filler ?

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  6 лет назад +2

      Scott Dey We never use ready mixed really. Sometimes may use one of them tubes it goes in your pocket and can be good on large jobs with small amounts of filling. But mostly mix my own you can mix what you want and to the right consistency and it's fantastic to use.

    Wee tip to share: when filling over mist coat I add some paint dye to the fillers to highlight where was filled

    Would you not be safer and much quicker to use a telescopic 360 sander rather than a sanding block? Thanks.

    Very thorough as always , just wondered why you if haven't got a mirka sander, as you do a lot of prep , makes life so easy and fast , no comparing it to hand sanding???

      Walls and ceilings are not perfectly flat and it's usually only a denib you sand with your palm on the wall a little so you can feel for the rougher parts, makes for perfection. We do use sanders sometimes on woodwork.

    what roller sleeves do you use to avoid the orange peel effect ??

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  6 лет назад

      You will always get a certain amount of orange peel even with the shortest pile. That's why when rolling gloss you use a brush to lay off.

      @@PaintingandDecorating I actually look at the Orange Peel effect as an alternative finish to possible brush marks when using a brush. You can work faster with a mini roller.
