As is the norm for me, I have done it the other way round. I use the coupling light as my reversing light, and I now have two rear fog lights. Simple's. Stay happy. Yorkshire Rob.

I did basically the same thing on my 127 hicap, then added two fog lights under the cross member. I found the led bulbs were virtually useless in that fitting, being mounted sideways, so reverted to tungsten ones.
The shuttle used a sacrificial shield.
My MGB wires entered the boot on the non-exhaust side and coupled to other side.

Yeah, those leds don't work so great in that position - better with filament lamps (or a dedicated led fitting). Having said that I've been a rank hypocrite and used leds in that orientation in ours...

Mike. You looked like a Chav' without the duree sticking out one side of a mouth ! It would've been fitting to have matched pair of lenses and is one legally allowed to run amber rear reversing lights to ? V.
An amber reverse light would be not very effective I would have thought
