I love these short specific videos. Because it’s easier to learn this way because it can get very overwhelming if you’re going over too many things.

Thanks for the short, targeted videos! They are great! And I could not process a raw file without the targeted adjustment tools. I am very comfortable with both Lightroom and Photoshop, consider myself "advanced," but not that advanced. Any tool that makes the job easier for me is terrific. I'm a documentarian, not a fine artist. I like what I like and I think I know good enough when I see it. 😁

Love these short, single-topic videos. I use the targeted adjustments in the HSL panel all the time but never knew about them in the curves tool. Thanks

If Adobe could allow the same targeted adjustments to be used after activating the new selection tools then that would be a winner. No more global adjustments - targeted must be the way to go. Always look forward to your presentations.

Nice video. I discovered this tool a while back when I was editing scans of my earliest prints, from the early 1980s. Many of them had faded in a way that was dependent on both the color and brightness in the original photo, most commonly with darker greens drifting to magenta. By using this tool with the separate RGB channels, I could get an almost perfect correction. Even better, because the fading was consistent for a given batch of prints, I could make a preset from it and apply to all 24 or 36 photos from the roll. Nice!

Certainly an underutilised tool, thanks for the revelation.
Short and sweet is the way to go on my opinion. The KISS principle is a solid one.
    Thanks for this tip.
Photoshop tutes like this would benefit those like me intimidated by PS.

A good quick lesson, thank you.
I frequently use the targeted adjustments in the HSL section. I wish Adobe would give us that ability within a mask. For example, do a sky mask and then use the targeted adjustment HSL tool as you did on the blues. That would keep it from affecting the water. Currently, I guess you could do a copy of the original and adjust one copy for the sky and then take the two photos to PS to mask in the sky adjustment. But going back a forth between Lr an PS takes time.

You can also use the (TAT) Targeted Adjustment Tool in the Black & Whit Mix panel.
    Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + G
    Other useful shortcuts on windows
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + H Selects Targeted Adjustment tool to apply a Hue adjustment.
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S Selects Targeted Adjustment tool to apply a Saturation adjustment.
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + L Selects Targeted Adjustment tool to apply a Luminance adjustment.
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + T Selects Targeted Adjustment tool to apply a Tone Curve adjustment
This works in Lightroom Classic on Mac Command + Option + Shift + the appropriate letter.

Great info about this feature! Using it with masks would be a way to limit the adjustment to particular areas of an image.

Never knew that about using the tone curve, which raises the quest: Is there a difference between using HSL v. the tone curve?

I like any of your videos as long as it's something I don't know well, which is quite often! :0) BTW, I find targetted adjustments quite useful in my IR work when I am unsure how I want a particular IR spectrum to look (e.g., when using 470nm, it starts out very green-ish).

When I click on a point and drag, it brightens or darkens the whole image. What am I doing wrong? I use the same example you did with the "Click to Edit Point Curve" button.

One full raw editor and misses darktabel a much more capable program just doesn't have the file management aspect

10 minutes a day. I can deal with that. Double that time or more, and it’s harder to find the time, and certainly not every day.
