Please keep singing the praises of microphones in front of speakers. I am so tired of dry DI signal being the standard for bass guitar. As a mix engineer and player, I've never had a single situation where a microphone didn't sound better.
At least people should use amp and cab sims...

This is a great demo, especially with the room mic for comparison. Very well done gents. SM57s are great for lots of things, but bass is not one of them. Most kick drum mics tend to have too much scoop for my taste, so this RE320 seems like a nice "happy medium".
Yes! The RE320 is my go-to mic for my home studio. Excellent for kick drum, bass, guitar, and vocals. It does a great job of picking up the grit in my bass tone, much better than DI. Great bang for the buck for sure.
can confirm this is a 10/10 microphone. I've used it for about 2 years now. It was my first microphone and it's still my favorite microphone. This thing is a tank and it sounds outstanding. I've purchased multiple other mics since then and nothing is nearly as solid as my EV mic.
thr corvette through the GK. sounded awesome a bit less drive. but nice tone.

Huh, on the last example (Angel of Death) the DI sounded way better than the room mic and close mic, and I could hear the least difference between "voice" and "kick" as opposed to the clean examples. Any chance of a shootout of different mics on distorted bass?
