A tribute to the GK800RB amplifier served on a Jazzplate with active/passive switching and a new Contour switch feature.
Get that signature sound, straight out of your bass.
Make it growl, make it deep, make it clear. It’s all there!!
    Active controls:
    -Stacked Bass/Treble
    -Stacked Hi-mid/Lo-mid
    -Contour switch
    Passive
    -3 Way Tone switch
    -Active/Passive switch
This Jazzplate comes with two options; Neck Volume and Bridge Volume or Master Volume and Blend.
    Double NFP
These Filter preamps, unlike common EQ/Preamps, allow you to completely change the character sound of your pickups by shifting its signature resonant peak. This, plus the ability to actively mix them, gives you a full new level of exciting tones not available on regular EQ preamps.
This is a direct replacement plate that will fit most Jazz basses. It’s solderless and very easy to install, no need for opening holes for batteries as a single 9v sits perfectly inside the cavity.
The instruments need to have the output Jack mounted directly on the body. It consists of 2x Volume potentiometers(Neck and Bridge), 1x Active/ Passive switch, 1x Passive 3-way Tone switch, and 2x Filters( Neck and Bridge).

It took me a bit of time to understand the double NFP, but once I did, man it opened up a totally different perspective on what kind of sounds I could get out of my jazz bass! Love it. And the contour switch on the 800 RB is more than just a gimmick. It definitely helps define a better bass tone in a mix. Again, great video guys! 👍🏻

I picked up this bass with the two preamps - I bought it mainly for the 800RB pre- but quickly fell in love with the Double NFP. I run the neck rounded off and fat, the bridge nice and zingy, then with the Neck volume at 100% and the Bridge volume at ~80, it's got everything you need to use right-hand techniques to get any sound you want. Grab a pick and it growls just right, gentle plucks up over the bottom of the fretboard and it's all a big phat pad... absolutely love the double NFP! Also, that Harley Benton is no slouch. I was never a jazz bass guy, but this thing plays and sounds so good, AND it's got mojo out the wazoo!
The 800RB was sitting on a shelf, all alone.. So I mounted it into an enclosure and wired it for pedalboard power and In/Out jacks. . . Yeah, I can't leave good-enough alone...
Tonight, I'll be playing (for the first time) the Double NFP - equipped bass through the 800RB pre... If you hear a sonic boom from Vegas, you'll know what happened!

I never thought of GK as having a particular sound, the way I can recognize an SVT, boogie 400 or darkglass amp. I've always put them in the category of "good colorless solid state" that I can shape to my needs.

Exactly. It's like a dry signal with some eq on it, and some drive if you want. Good, very versatile but nothing unique.

The GK tone is very fast and articulate with tons of crisp high end and a unique growl. Def has its own sound, and it is all about the growl.

i put the obp-3 in both my carvin 6 string basses. one 9volt sounds good with mid boost (off detent) at 800 khz. the other 18volt sounds good flat at 400 khz. the bb76 also has the music man humbucker.

Hmmm. I have an original 800RB. They get the "throughty" part. But its not the same.

Well the 800rb is out of production. But you’re right I’m sure they could have found some snarky fanboy in the comments to freely send one in.
