    Cort is one of those brands that I know have existed for the past 30 years but have never seen in a shop (new or used) and have never seen someone play them live. I don't even know how basses are marketed these days. But as an example back in around 1991 or so I started seeing ads for Zon Sonus basses in BP magazine & that's how I became aware of the brand & model which then led me to buying two of them. But if you are a young bassist today I don't know how someone (without this particular video) would stumble upon Cort and decide to buy one.

    Wow that 5st sounds great, esp the B string.

  • @melcwan
    @melcwan 6 месяцев назад +3

    I think you forgot to mention that the 5-string version of the GB Modern has an extended 35" scale length. I own it, and it took me a while to get used to the bigger stretches compared to the standard 34". It results in higher string tension, which is really important for clarity on the low B string!

    • @mgr_1138
      @mgr_1138 5 месяцев назад

      Yes! The 35" scale length and the 19mm string spacing make the 5 string feel quite big, imho. While at the same time being really lightweight. I really liked mine.

    Its always nice to see new 24 fret jazz bass options. These have a nice slanted neck bolt area (unlike my Fender 24 fret jazz). The placement of the knob below and between the pickups wouldnt work for me unfortunately.

    These basses are great value; top quality hardware but Indonesian made. Lots to like. I have several basses at this price point: Charvels, Reverends, Spector, Balaguer...all offer higher quality hardware but with construction outside of the U.S. So I would fall into Cort's target market here. The problem for me is that these Corts all look so ordinary. I like bright colours and brown, grey, black and white just don't get the Gas going. Shallow I may be but gorgeous basses inspire me to pick them up and play. These don't.

    • @bassimprovjams3772
      @bassimprovjams3772 6 месяцев назад

      I agree, give sire a try, you get a huge bang for your buck, with a nice big preamp, they say it’s to complicated, but it’s really simple, it’s just a 3 band eq with a mid frequency and passive tone, also you get passive/ active switch and obviously a blend, very nice preamp and you can get a roasted neck. Go for Sire 🤘😎

      Sire would be a good choice, the new Squier Anniversary models are also nice and a little under our budget. You may be able to find a second hand Fender Player as well. Also have a look at Markbass Gloxy basses, very cool, great sounding instruments made to high specs in the far East but q/c’d by Markbass.

      @@TheBassChannel It was kinda just a joke. You might find someone that can pull a rancid song. Maybe a madness or specials song if they were into ska younger... but for some reason... I've noticed that no one knows an op ivy song. It's just a little weird. So if you can find someone that actually knows "artificual life".... that would be super badass. I'd like to jam with them. I'm listening though anyways. Glad I found ya.

    Anytime you spend $1,000 or more on a bass or guitar, it should come with a hard case.

    • @BassRacerx
      @BassRacerx 6 месяцев назад +5

      6 years ago i would agree with you man but inflation is the reality we are living in. I already have two hardshell cases and I would only take 1 or two bases out of the house at any time anyway. Personally i would rather just have the bass and buy my own case seperate.

    • @stephenrodriguez7181
      @stephenrodriguez7181 6 месяцев назад +3

      @BassRacerx I know, but all the basses I bought in the past came with a hard case and the brand name on it. I paid $1,100 for my Ibanez SDGR that came with the Ibanez hard case and bought a Warwick going on four years ago for $2,900 that came with a non Warwick gig bag. Like cmon man. I'm just picky maybe, but also I love the smell when opening up a hard case, ever since I was a kid with my dad's guitars.

    • @BassRacerx
      @BassRacerx 6 месяцев назад

      @@stephenrodriguez7181 When you realize that a case is not a freebie and included in the cost of the bass it's easier to accept if it's missing.

      Yeap! I’ve been saying this! Especially with a company like Dingwall for example, a lot still do like fender and musicman and Warwick, well now with musicman you get that lame mono case I like mono cases and own one but we want that hard musicman case so they all match when you line them all up in your room lol

    The modern ones look great but those clear pickguards are gross. I understand why they're there (to guard against picks, of course) but they kill the look. The burled tops are super sweet and deserve to be nekkid!
