Nice review, I really appreciate Cort basses ( so unrated) make some awesome sounding basses putting quality and craftsmanship where it counts!
amazing dynamics of sounds
I think a bassist will be hard pressed to find a new electric bass that looks and sounds as good as this bass for the price.
I just bought this awesome bass and received it just two days ago. Many thanks for this review which first brought the Modern to my awareness and helped catalyze my decision to purchase it. I couldn't be happier. I love the tone, the playability and the looks. It also just feels so yummy with the open pore finish. Thanks so much Dan. You've made my week. This bass is a keeper.
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this one, been looking for a new decent bass for a few months now and I must say I still haven't found another bass in this price range that offers this much value for the money. May I know if you are still satisfied with it after having played it for 9 months?
Just got mine what an underrated bass!
Thanks for sharing this much appreciated 🎸🎵🎶
Great review! Cort does make good sounding basses!
At some point I need to get a good active jazz in my arsenal, and this would be just the ticket. J-basses can be weighty beasts, so the lightweight construction is much appreciated. Doesn't sound like the tone suffers for it on these. 👌
I'm not in the "Heavy weight instrument - better tone camp". I just don't buy it.
@@aldito7586 Some luthiers, like Roger Sadowsky for instance, maintain that lighter-weight instruments resonate better and thus sound “better” as a result.
Amazing bass. Good review. Thanks.
Thanks well done 🎶👍
Great sounding
Cort is a lot of bass for a decent price! Great quality price ratio.
awesome bass 🤟😍
Very nice 👌🏽
Thanks for a review! What about single coil noise?
Cort gb modern vs cort b5 plus ASRM which bass is more versatile and with more punch
Does the tone control only work in passive mode, or does it work in active mode too? Asking as it would be a useful feature - as you know, an active treble control is quite different to a tone control.
Dan Veal, stop making me buy basses with your positive reviews, dammit!!
This or the A4 Ultra Ash? No stock in my city.
I purchased the grey 4 string. I lowered the action a tad. Now the E string buzzes out on every fret/ note. So I raised it back up & and it’s still buzzing out. The A,D& G strings are fine. I’m not that impressed! I also own a GB GIG & GB JJ & don’t have that problem on either bass. Changed the strings & lowered the action & they both play fine. I love the look, neck & weight of the Modern 4 but not impressed. I’ve done everything from cranking the action way up to adjusting the truss rod and the E string is still buzzing. Now I’ll take it to my luthier and hope he can fix it in hopes that I didn’t purchase a lemon. I still love Cort basses though! Nice video. 👍
Did you succeeded to repair the E string or still having the same problem & do you see the bass worth or you still love Fender sound etc.
You didn’t answer my question then it mean it didn’t get repaired I think ?
@@amrsalahmahmoud3034 I have it sounding a little better but I’m still dropping it off. To me Fender & Cort are 2 different preferences. The Modern 4 is nice & light. Thanks to the Paulownia wood. And Fender is always way behind on catching up with everyone else. Check out RUclips for different reviews on the Cort Modern 4. Outside of the E string I love it. Still debating the Markbass preamp. I would have preferred a balance knob instead of individual volume knobs. Oh and a passive tone knob. A waste! Cort could have used a different preamp. But that’s my opinion. I’m sure a lot of people like it. Or maybe not. 🤷
@@leedodson3136 I was thinking to buy the Cort you think I will regret, & why you didn’t think to modify the preamp with what you want ? I mean with balance & one volume knob & add a passive tone knob or buy a Jhon east preamp maybe but Jhon east make all Basses sound similars I think from my old experience what do you think ? Sorry to buzzed you ? You think I buy the Cort or ? You was not happy with it as much as you thought before buying , & if not to buy Cort what you suggest similar light weight ?
@@amrsalahmahmoud3034 I have thought about replacing the preamp but I want to give it a fair shake. I also have a John East Uni should I decide to do so. But it is a 4 hole which I even have plugs for the other 2 or 1 holes. Depending on what I decide. And no I don’t think you will regret buying a Cort. The Modern 4 of course. You can always return it if you don’t like it. Of course you have to pay to ship it back. Not sure where you live. Anyway I’m off to play. Enjoy! 👍✌️
Cost, can the Dealers give us the cost of these two Cort GB models, the 5 string and the 4 string?? Thank you
The specs of this bass are great and being lightweight and reasonably priced, I really want to like this bass, but I can’t get over how much that figured top looks like it’s been smeared with poo!
is it just me or do i hear a little bit of chorus in the tone demos? or am I just losing it?
Excelente contrabaixo, só acho que perdeu personalidade o comparando com o GB 4 custom
Can anyone give an un-sponsored review of this bass?
Cort did not pay for this review, and does not even advertise with BGM, so this review is most definitely not sponsored.
@@BassGearMagazine Thanks, didn't know that. I'm considering picking one of these up but no one seems to have bought one, so impossible to find used!
Dan, you play beautifuly! Nice overview, and great demo.
Glad you liked it!
