My wife watched your video over my shoulder and said "that's fun!" And I agree. You've come up with some mighty cool projects over the time I've been following you. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us. Cheers from the "frigid Midwest!"
I really like how you show the final product while explaining each feature. I find it a lot easier to follow this way rather than trying to imagine what the finished project is supposed to look like.
Was just looking at which band saw and drill press to equipment my new shop with today. This cart convinced me to go with a bench drill press. Last week I started building and installing full pull out draws in my wifes cabinets that I installed 5 years ago. I also just finished my new router table to mount my Dewalt router in this last weekend. I am so proud of my results. She thinks I am the greatest..LOL. I was a mechanic all my life.
Just found you today. Well done! A few notes: - Back in 1977 I made a basic dresser at work using salvaged crating materials and pneumatic staples. Others scoffed, but it was solid. Good to see the use of similar fasteners has caught on. - I can’t abide naked wood. It is a dirt and grease magnet! At a minimum I “break” edges and somehow seal the wood. Even simple Turtle Wax to work surfaces helps. - I’ve never tried pocket screws. Interesting. I’ve been using nail blocks and metal connectors. I’m thinking of move my up to dowels.
Another terrific project April with excellent details on the build. I do not understand why anyone would thumbs- down this or any other of her projects.
April!!! I bought SuperJaws because of your incredible demonstration of their versatility. It arrives tomorrow and I'm so excited to add it to my shop! Also, buying these plans. Thank you!
Really cool project April! The one thing that I would mention is that you need to make sure to fasten the drill press to the cabinet. Even though the drill press is heavy, it is a mobile stand, and the drill press becomes very top heavy and dangerous when in motion. Wouldn't want to see any accidents. I have a table top drill press as well but it has it's own home in my shop.
Love seeing girls/women getting into woodwork. Growing up It wasn’t seen as the done thing for women to do woodwork. I’m going back to the 70s and 80s. My dad taught me everything I know today. My brothers weren’t interested but all I did was hang around my dad watching him build stuff. I can’t cook for nuts, but I can build anything, well almost anything now I’m 60. 🤓🤓
I'm right there with you! My husband has always worked with me and just had faith I could tackle ANYTHING. Now I have a sawmill and I can make a project from log to furniture! Keep building!
amazing designs, i built both the drill press stand and the miter stand. I hated the big rolling stand I had for the miter saw, it was huge and folded up but wouldn't stand up when folded. yours was perfect for my small shop as i really only have room to run one tool at a time. your videos were perfect for the build but i went ahead and bought the plans anyway.
Truly enjoy ALL your videos and have learned so much. You've saved me money and time. You are the only site I know of which offers plans, list of material, etc. Thanks so much. PLEASE keep making your very educational videos!! They are fantastic!!
I built this! With the plans and this video, everything went smoothly. The stand is as good as I expected it to be. It is an excellent design. A lot of useful storage space, easy to move around, and very sturdy. Thank you!
Simple and genius. I am an apartment dweller and recently built a 2x4 work station... wish I saw this first. I still may built this and move carpenter station outside to hold my coffee cups and drying work.
I liked the stand in this video and bought the plans. The plans were great. I built the stand and the project went very well. This was my first time building anything with moving parts (the drawers, the material support system), so I made my usual mistakes. But overall I am very happy with the results.
Great to see you back in the shop April... I've been praying your recovery & healing is going well. This is a perfect project for me as I have a garage for a shop and mobility is a must. Your sliding tray design is a cool bonus. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks April. I was going to build a drill press stand a few weeks ago and I spotted your post on Instagram about this build. I'm glad I waited. Great design!
something I did was to not mount the press in the enter of the cabinet top. Put it forward and to the left. This opened a larger table top surface beside the press instead of the two narrow strips left and right. The base bottom panel was larger to have the drawer unit like here and a vertical half box hollow and lower platform so posts and pillars can be set to vertically to drill holes in the ends (some T track to secure the post plumb) . With the press forward and to the left I can rotate the drill head over the post end. Behind the press handles there is a removable grid 4x6 cubby boxes/cabinet (can lay into any of the lower drawers). Small magnet tray stuck to cubby box top for current in-use bits and chuck key .
The plywood you use is beautiful! It is so great to see you use it instead of OSB. The two products are just not interchangeable even though some makers try to use OSB for everything. Plywood has tensile strength as well as edge strength. As soon as OSB gets wet or abraded it turns to mush.
Nicely done. I like the fact that you see ahead enough to plan ahead for tool usage. I would like to see more videos on how you modify or enhance normal tools into your own April tools. That is where the true magic happens!
I bought the shop fox (identical) radial arm but put it on a lower stand so I could roll it's column right up to the edge of my work bench over hang end . This gave me a HUGE work surface where I could reach the center of a 30" work piece YET retract the press and swing out of way to free up entire work bench top , when needed . ( drill press standard table was still usable)
Great...I just came home with a new drill press and was starting to think about a cabinet for it. If you have enough clearance, and actually care (😎), I've done drawers like this and found that some UHMW tape on the drawer bearing surfaces makes it slide easier. I'm not sure you need it, though, unless the weight gets too much. Nice!
Well, don’t let anyone tell you that you lack imagination. Very ingenious way to incorporate a extension leg. Very similar to what I was thinking of doing with a miter stand I have in mind
Just came across this channel...love it and subscribed....always great to hear a story of someone being able to chase their dreams and stop working for the man.
I've been following you for a few years now April and you have come a long way. I love this build because looking at my own shop it will come in handy. Ill get rid of the bench that is on no because its just a clutter holder.
happened upon all your videos just today and come to find out that you are literally right down the road from where im building a house in Mystic Shores. Someday i will stop by your shop to check it out! On another note, a recent Texas resident i know all about Discount Steel in Minneapolis. It was our "Go-To" store as well.
Not only are your projects well designed and extremely useful, but your voice-over videos are of appropriate length to show the highlights of construction. I know your quality videos take much time and thought to produce but should be an inspiration for others. Few meet your level of professional editing. Go April!
Simple, easy and totally functional. Another cool build. I would use a wing "nut" on the moveable side wing instead of a hex nut. Just a suggestion. Thanks again for sharing your journey. I've been watching since you got started.
Boy do I love drawer organizers :) I'm on the side that drawers are places where things go to die BUT if you're creative enough they do have a place! Great build
Excelente vídeo. Mesmo não dominando o idioma foi possível compreender todo o conteúdo. Saudações do Brasil. Excellent video. Even not mastering the language, it was possible to understand the entire content. Greetings from Brazil.
Well done, April! Once again, another successful project. Oh, by the way, I noticed a very lovely painting in the background earlier in the video. It was the one of a woman with the sun shining behind her. That's a very pretty painting.
Was rethinking making a stand for my miter saw. I like the wing idea for support of the longer pieces. Easier than pulling the roller stand out every time.
Hi April I really enjoy your videos. You have put simple back in your projects. I've watched other folks videos and shows and as nice as they appear they made a science out of something that's supposed to be simple. I'll be watching I love your shop. Looking forward to the next project.
Great build April. Love your channel and I can’t wait until my daughter is just a little older so she can enjoy your work too! For your build, it’s a great idea. But an idea for your side wings would be to cut the center and side rails at a 45 degree, making a channel for the wing to slide up and down in, but it won’t be able to swing away from the cabinet. That is what I used for the slide mechanism on my router lift and it works great. A little wax and slides slick as can be. Keep up the great work!
i think this is the build i like the best. very good, simple design. plus those supports are a really good idea. i don't know how i feel about pocketholes yet and will try and land on another joining method i think. thanks for sharing your project!
Nice idea, I'll copy the concept for my drill! Thanks :-) A suggestion: connect together (backside) the sliding plywood so it can move it without the need of check it's really flat. Sorry for my English.
April, Just a short note to thank you for your entertaining channel. In a world of gimmicky videos your personality resonates as genuine, your intelligence and work ethic are a perfect blend to compliment your fearlessness in taking on new projects. The thing I enjoy the most is the fact that your are engineering all the through a build and stay after it until it your satisfied with the result and your not afraid to show just how Kool feeling it is when you build something really neat. The one question i have is did you ever change out that 2x6 on the end of your awning?
Very very good project. It is very simple and straight forward as is most of your projects. It has given me many ideas to organize my garage space. ( When it warms up).
Thank you you are so talented and inspiring to others to expand our range and try things that might normally be out of our comfort zone. But you explain things so well and show us all the steps, when your batteries don't die lol. Keep up the great work and thanks again!!!
Another great workshop build, April. Some nice and very practical touches included and your plans are the best with color coding, etc. Guess that is why you won a Golden Chisel Award for 2018 (Best Woodworking Content Creators). Looking forward to following you for the rest of 2019 and beyond.
Your videos are very well done. You really do a nice job on them. You seem to be a natural for the camera and speech. They could easily be on broadcast TV. Well, cable TV for sure. :). Thanks.
My wife watched your video over my shoulder and said "that's fun!" And I agree. You've come up with some mighty cool projects over the time I've been following you. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us. Cheers from the "frigid Midwest!"
Ray I agree! Some of her projects will have copies in my shop soon.
And yes the “frigid Midwest” is right, going to be a nice -10 tonight.
Your wife is awesome for appreciating projects like these. Thumbs up!

the good designer; the good carpenter; Great Master = April Wilkerson

Awesome! Both my folks and I love it and use it all the time! Hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.
That was most impressive. Especially the work supports on either side. I haven't seen that before. Top Marks !
Glad you enjoyed it.
I do not know what I love more, your voice or your work :-) great woman
I like the simplicity of you drill press stand. No special edge cuts, just glue and brad nails
I can do this!!
Really cool project April! The one thing that I would mention is that you need to make sure to fasten the drill press to the cabinet. I noticed that you're easily tackling larger more complex projects! You've come a long way since beginning RUclips.
I'm proud of you, well done!
This is and will be the most diy shop that has ever been made.
I built this! With the plans and this video, everything went smoothly. The stand is as good as I expected it to be. It is an excellent design. A lot of useful storage space, easy to move around, and very sturdy. Thank you!

First of all, I thank you for your wonderful style and the same wonderful explanation
Good work April, nice to see something being built that is not overkill. Solid built and work!!
Thanks

Nice to see the work shop in full swing now.
Nice DP stand. I could not agree with you more, whether you move something once a year or everyday, being on casters makes life easy.

Next time when you cut a bolt, leave a nut on it so when you thread it off it cleans the threads of the bolt after the cut is made
Diesel Days best tip an old machinist ever told me.
My pop, WW II Seabee mechanic , showed us that when we were kids !
Welcome back April. Hope you enjoyed your time off.
I have been wondering what to do with my tabletop drill press, what you have done is an excellent solution. Thank you for the brain tickler.
I literally just finished building a drill press stand yesterday. Definitely adding the supports and the drawer organization ideas today.
April excellent project. Just exactly what I have been looking for. I consider it and be looking forward to your plans. Thanks again April.
Awesome! Thank you!

Milwaukee all the way! I'm a plumber and HVAC tech and that's all i use! Love there cordless tools!
Let's get you to a million, April!

Holy crap girl you have amazing idea's! As I said before you're my hero! Love your work!
Drawer inserts are an excellent idea
Live this!! The table risers are genius!!!
Instablaster
Fantastic project April! Love the drawer inserts and the material supports. Oh ONLY two people are famous for their hand wave. The Queen and YOU!
I've been following you for a few years now April and you have come a long way. I love this build because looking at my own shop it will come in handy. Ill get rid of the bench that is on no because its just a clutter holder.

Thoughtful feedback, nice!
Simple, easy and totally functional. Another cool build. I would use a wing "nut" on the moveable side wing instead of a hex nut. Just a suggestion. Thanks again for sharing your journey. I've been watching since you got started.
Perfect timing on this one. Getting ready to buy a drill press and I need a good stand! This is perfect!
Glad the timing works out well. : )
Great video. Going to use this example for my drill press stand.
The craftsmanship and level of organization to the shop and surroundings is really inspiring, something to strive for. Thanks for sharing.
Very good, highly useful, and I'm glad you're feeling better
Boy do I love drawer organizers :) I'm on the side that drawers are places where things go to die BUT if you're creative enough they do have a place! Great build
The tools you use are so advanced that I can't imagine it.
Nice job April. My Drill press is a monster with it's own stand but those cabs look fun to build anyway.
beautiful!! your focus, calm and grace in motion are impressive.quality,SKILL! WOW

Brilliant job, but you have so much space and oh so so much kit you both inspire and depress in equal measure.
Nice build, very simple construction of a very functional accessory.
Thank you. : )
Was rethinking making a stand for my miter saw. I like the wing idea for support of the longer pieces. Easier than pulling the roller stand out every time.
Great project. I love how you adjusted the plans to keep the adjustable part straight
April, you have really gotten good at these project videos. Well done!
Your plywood looks like such good quality. The only stuff I ever seem to find is garbage.
Hi April I really enjoy your videos. You have put simple back in your projects. I've watched other folks videos and shows and as nice as they appear they made a science out of something that's supposed to be simple. I'll be watching I love your shop. Looking forward to the next project.

Absolutely Beautiful..... and the stand ain't bad either!
I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THE BANDSAW MILL I JUST WATCHED MATTS VIDEO!!!
i think this is the build i like the best. very good, simple design. plus those supports are a really good idea. i don't know how i feel about pocketholes yet and will try and land on another joining method i think. thanks for sharing your project!
Really great idea! Will upgrade mine when the weather warms up. Thank you!
No problem. : )
this is freaking genius! Awesome work as usual April!
That was awesome! It would work great in my little shop.
Awesome build April, tnx for sharing it....!!!
Great design and execution...as usual from April..Thanks
Excellent job April!
good build April , nice video , personally I prefer a well anchored drill press but never tire of your great videos.
Nice idea, I'll copy the concept for my drill! Thanks :-)

I love the chequered shirt! ....and the drill press stand is very nice too 😃
Nice job. The supports seem a bit gimmicky but the sliding storage is a great idea. thanks for sharing.
April "the Wood Goddess" Wilkerson. Thanks for all your amazing videos. Also thanks for having Anne on your channel as I enjoy her videos also.

Hi , Very Good job April ! 😉👍🏽
Very nice. Happy New Year from a wet Rhode Island.
Glad you are back. I was getting worried
Another great workshop build, April. Some nice and very practical touches included and your plans are the best with color coding, etc. Guess that is why you won a Golden Chisel Award for 2018 (Best Woodworking Content Creators). Looking forward to following you for the rest of 2019 and beyond.
Excelente trabajo Srita. La felicito
Your videos are very well done. You really do a nice job on them. You seem to be a natural for the camera and speech. They could easily be on broadcast TV. Well, cable TV for sure. :). Thanks.
That is a sweet stand April. I love your sliding side table supports.
Thanks for the project and build. Can never have too much storage.
