I love the portrayal of how people try to like and dislike what everyone else does. When we find our independence It's so liberating to like what you like and not care what others think. Maybe not easy, but a great feeling.
Notice how anxiety often uses 'if' statements (e.g., 'If I joined the team...'), whereas other emotions or beliefs tend to use 'I' statements (e.g., 'I am a good friend')

At first I felt like envy is a completely unnecessary character but after several re-watches I feel like she's an enabler and a motivation for anxiety.
“Maybe that’s what happens when you grow up, you feel less joy”
I thought of this in my head a few years and was so mentally distraught about that. This film read my mind.

17:42 The emotions themselves having inner worlds is interesting, but I also think both movies indicate that, as people get older, their emotions grow more alike. Take Riley's parents: their emotions dress & style themselves very similarly, rarely react in extreme ways, and communicate & cooperate much more effectively than Riley's. If this series continues (and I hope it does), I wager the sequels would further show this process unfold as Riley grows up.
When all of them hugged Riley's sense of self, i FELT that. All the times i just needed a hug to calm me down during a panic attack. I sobbed like a man tho.
I love how in this movie, they way they symbolized Riley learning how to love herself and all her messiness with all the emotions hugging the "sense of self"
While I don't think this film reaches the heights of the first one, this was a worthy sequel in spirit. A very relatable and raw depiction of teenage anxiety and angst.
I think there's a really crucial difference between the two films' endings that makes them not the same, and is best summarized by these two similar lines - in Inside Out, Joy tells Sadness "Riley NEEDS you." In Inside Out 2, Sadness tells joy "Riley WANTS you." The first film says every emotion is important and has its place; the second film expands on that by adding that we have the capability to control our emotions and not let them rule us - to decide for ourselves which emotion to focus on in those times of need.
I enjoyed this film! Anxiety is extremely relatable and has definitely been one of my main emotions since I was about 11 years old, I'm 24 now! The part where she has a panic attack made me cry!
The biggest emotion I have is anxiety as well, I'm a very shy person.

The movie resonated so much more than people thought it would, and with the box office being $1.6 billion (being pretty close to 2019 live action Lion King's take), they really nailed those emotional characteristics. Also, the main new emotions played now big stars, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Paul Walter Houser and Adele Exarchopoulos.

@heavyarms7prime I know that but one shot of a movie doesn't make it live action when literally every other aspect of it was done in a computer. It's animated.

There are two easter eggs in Joy's "bedroom": a model of The Pizza Planet Truck (which is in nearly all Pixar movies) and a figurine of Bing Bong, showing that Joy still misses him.

For sure the saddest in the movie, I wonder what kind of sense-of-self “lines” would occur if you have principles based of the other emotions, like “Everyone is against me” (for Anger), or “Nothing matters” (for Boredom)
Jen has come along way from the first my friend watches. I absolutely enjoyed her insights on a lot of films, but especially the Inside Out series.
While jen is having a great time Holden is stressing throughout the whole movie. 😂
I love that they give parents and kids a common reference point to discuss challenging emotions and reactions.

I like the emotional conflict in this movie, it reminds me of the internal and external conflict in my favorite show Cobra Kai, and everything you guys said I also thought after seeing Inside Out 2. Holden, I think you should show Jen the Despicable Me movies since she liked Megamind so much, along with The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia, Elemental, and the Cars movies.
The scene where Riley calls for joy at the final part of the hockey game got me choked up
Inside Out 2 was a great film and sequel. It's a worthy sequel, in my opinion. Plus, I love the new emotions and love seeing Anger, Disgust, and Fear joining the adventure with Joy and Sadness. By the way Holden have you and Jen seen Coraline 2009 movie yet? If you guys love The Nightmare Before Christmas you might like Coraline too. Another great Stop Motion Animation. 👌
They should watch the Despicable Me movies imo. Especially the 4th one since Gru has a baby and last summer Holden and Jen's baby was born, so they can feel connected to it.
So powerful. Great animation, and I cried so many times. I put myself down a lot and often go through crippling anxiety and low self worth to this day in my life ate twenties so this was like a traumatic dream for me. If you can’t tell, anxiety and sadness are pretty high core Emotions got me.
Inside Out 2 is a perfect sequel. It's amazing and touching. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I wanted to recommend Coraline as another great animated movie to react to. It just had its 15th anniversary, and is one of the best stop motion films out there. Not sure if you guys have seen it, but you definitely should if you haven't
As someone who has genetic anxiety and depression Inside Out 2 made me laugh and cry in ways I had never done before. I felt TRULY seen watching this movie when Riley had her anxiety attack. I even cried a little because it’s the most accurate depiction of what it looks like inside the brain of someone who is suffering from an anxiety attack. And even when she didn’t have her attack, it felt accurate because people with genetically high anxiety like me always have millions of ideas rushing through their mind at all times for all scenarios, barely ever resting. But what made me fully cry was when Riley had her new sense of self created and had her moment of catharsis with Bree and Grace when she apologizes to them.
Both of the Inside Out films are masterpieces in my opinion, and I hope to god we get a 3rd one that is equally as great.
Anyone else notice Joy became more and more Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec? And not just because they're played by the same actress.
I hope you watch X-MEN 97 one day. since it's really good series, I think you guys will really enjoy it.

Inside Out 2 is an amazing movie. I've seen it in theaters twice and it's even better than the first movie because of the new emotions and character development. I wouldn't be surprised if it grossed 2 billion at the box office. That'd be so great.

I loved this movie. People say that in the first movie sadness was the villian but no JOY WAS!! Sadness was just doing what riley felt. Like when she wanted to tale control after she learned her friends got assigned to a different school. She was doing what riley felt and joy pushed that away

There is no villain in both movies. Just antagonists..joy and anxiety

Can I recommend that you watch the 2003 Disney film, Brother Bear. Which in my opinion is the most underrated Disney film ever, there’s at least a dozen of “underrated” Disney films but Brother Bear is by far the most. It has many themes about siblings, seeing both sides, nature balance, and of course Phil Collins. And if you like the movie I would also recommend Brother Bear 2, one of the better Disney sequels

I really enjoyed it, I was 13 when inside out 1 came out and then going to see this one as a 21 year old was really enjoyable seeing how different my perspective is now that I’m older and understand things, and even though I’m now a lot older, I’m going to wonder how much more different my perspective will be when I’m the parents age and how I’ll see my 21 self then

If I had grown up watching both of these movies when I was a child, I would’ve been so much more emotionally, healthy as an adult because I wouldn’t have tried to suppress all of my negative emotions as much as I did as a child.
Also, the Sar-chasm is one of the most brilliant and hilarious jokes I have ever seen.😂

I was never really afan of the first movie. Im not sure why Im just wasn't. But the FIance wanted to see this one, so we went. I am shocked by how much I loved this one. As someone who has pretty bad anxiety(Mosty social) that anxiety attack scene was way to relatble. Just overall, I thnk I related way more to the change of emotions.
Watching Anxiety in this movie was giving me Anxiety lol

This may or may not be controversial, but I prefer Inside 2 over the original. Granted, the second one only works with the first one. The second gets to explore new depths of emotions with new emotions, and the better balancing of emotions and Riley's screen time helps ground the film. Also, I love anxiety. P.S. There is Much to say, but I wanted to try and keep it short. I love how you all enjoy watching movies together like that.

I really do wish reactors would wait until the movie is generally available on a designated platform or available to rent before reacting to it. We can't all afford the $20-$30 for each new movie release usually reacted to by YTubers. And once I watch the movie on D+ a couple of months from now, I'm less than likely to see your reaction. I get it, gotta keep competitive, but I'll probably never watch this reaction

y'know there is a saying, Holden hermano ya eres mexicano.
I think, I still prefer the first one, the new emotions didnt really interacted much besides anxiety who takes the lead. But overall a good movie it looked gorgeous, the colors are amazing. Just think that for me personally the 1st one hit harder (its alright though, riley doesnt have to go through a traumatic life changing situation every 3 years).
What I really enjoyed about this sequel was how we see as Riley gets older her emotions as well as her sense of self gets more complex. I loved it showcased that too much anxiety can lead to a panic attack as well as our sense of self comes from all experiences, the good and the bad. I'd be open to a sequel where we can be introduced to more complex emotions like Love and Grief. 💛💙💜💚❤️🧡🩵🩷🩶

@@TimothyMills77 Sure, but they did reactions to the Ice Age series, even after finding out Jen was actually thinking of the Madagascar series, regarding the penguins in those. They even continued watching a couple after finding the first one pretty average.
