    I just started getting more serious about fishing after spending most of my life being a worm and bobber guy who’d go out maybe twice a year and not catch anything. I’ve turned into a gear head and I can’t get enough of trying to catch fish on every lure and every technique I can find. Your videos are some of the only ones that don’t completely leave out the bank fishermen, and I can’t thank you enough for that.

    I thought I discovered this technique a couple of years back. I generally fish saltwater and when I fish for summer flounder using jerk shad or bucktail, this is one of the retrieve that is commonly used. On a camping trip I brought my freshwater stuff to do some fishing. Hours went by literally nothing worked then I tried a 3" gulp jerk shad on a 1/8 jig head and started doing that and immediately like a switch, the bite turned on. It ended up being a great day.

    I fish a lot from a kayak too and totally relate! I tried out different jig heads for this technique but wasn’t getting consistent bites. Switched over to a Ned head mushroom style a couple weeks back, and suddenly the bass were hammering it. Not sure if it’s the action or the more subtle roll, but they’ve been killing it on the mushroom head mid-stroll ever since. Sometimes the right tweak makes all the difference!

    Really enjoyed your bank fishing series(I know, a little late to the game). Have you ever visited City Park in New Orleans? It's 1300 of the most beautiful acres with small ponds, oaks and moss that you'll ever see. And I personally have pulled a few 3 and 4 pounders out of its shallow depths. They host a kayak and bank big bass tournament on March 23, 2024. It's the oldest fresh water rodeo in the country celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year with nearly 500 participants for the one day event. The fishing may not be Toledo Bend, but the scenery alone is worth the price of admission.

    Great masterclass Tyler, thanks for the info. Yes, I agree a 300-size spool which I believe in the Japanese market equivalent is a 3000-size spool will cast further than a smaller 2500 spool. Especially when the line is filled right up to the max line. Like you said it's the coils, the bigger the coils the less resistance. FYI you can purchase certain models of Shimano spinning reels that have a 2500 body with a 3000-size spool. The smaller body is for less weight. The letter C will be in front to specify this, for example, the identification will look like this C3000MHG. Yes, Cory Wong is awesome, I especially like when he joined up with Vulfpeck at Madison Square Garden on the song called Cory Wong, the bass player Joe Dart is just amazing.

I lost the striper I put a fly snap on because 10lb monofilament wouldn't go through a 1/32 oz jig. I'll put a white grub on and trophy bass by procure and get crushed. 😊❤ I tied on lighter line slime line. Hopefully, I'll land the striper I lost last year.

    Hey, Tyler. Thank you so much for making such an amazing content for fishing. I have a question for you, since I am more or less new to fishing and right now looking for a combo for finesse fishing (1/16 oz and up to 5/16oz) and can’t decide what is better spinning or baitcaster combo. Would really appreciate your help and professional opinion, thank you in advance)

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  10 месяцев назад

      If you’re gonna do baitcaster, you’re gonna have to go BFS. Lew’s makes a great one (bit.ly/3PGv1rD) and a rod to match, which the custom lite has one or two of. One that’s less than 7ft, usually M or ML.
      If you’re gonna go spinning (which I would recommend), go with a 7’ ML and 200
      Or 300 size reel. I have the ones I use in the video description of this video

    Tyler I was using pre spawn lure that bass forecast recommended in my local pond all week, I’m wondering if I should be using spawn szn lures instead.

    I guess I'm dumb, because I always thought the salt content made it more buoyant, causing the sink to be slower.

    • @darthcycy
      @darthcycy 9 месяцев назад +2

      The salt makes it denser. I see what youre thinking, it'd be like salt water, how we can float much more easily the saltier the water. But it's opposite. We float easier because the added salt makes the salt denser, pushing us up. The soft plastic works the same way, it's salty so it's denser and sinks (or makes everything else floatier)

    you said the rod your using is a medium light... what action is the tip of the rod? (Moderate fast, fast, or extra fast) Those are the options on lews website?

    • @TylersReelFishing

      6’9” ML Fast. The elite rod, if that’s the one you’re looking at. I could also see a M Mod Fast work.
      And shop through those tackle warehouse links in the video description if you can!

    I can't find these anywhere. No Z2. Everything, including the link in this video, take you to a jig with a tail. I can't find any tailless jogs from strike king.
