- The K2 Simple Pleasures is a fantastic volume shifted, free ride driven, surf inspired shape. I was lucky enough to try out this seasons version of the board at a demo day last season- and it did not disappoint.
This board is super fun for nimble tight tree runs, and also floats very well because of its big nose and tapered shape. The camber dominant profile on the board gives you all of the carvability you want when on hard pack, and the bamboo core gives you that lively snap back response that you would expect from this caliber of board.
I got to take this thing for a pretty typical "Andreas lap" through the trees- and I was impressed at how nimble and energetic it felt. I was able to make some very tight, technical lines through the woods on this board, while still feeling comfortable at higher speeds when riding groomers.
Over all, this board was one of my best of tests from last season, and I think it would be a great daily driver for that free rider that enjoys turns. I definitely recommend this board for anyone looking for an all mountain directional free ride board.

I want to ride one now!
SnowboardProCamp same
Right
Yeah dude, they're a pretty sweet deck!
K2 Alchemist is what you wanna try, I have one now and it’s insane in every condition except ice, for ice stick with a Lib Tech 😉
Great video!!!!!! Awesome footage with great in depth knowledge on the specs, but delivered in a digestive way for the normal folk. You can tell you weren't regurgitating the marketing of the board but going off of pure experience of the ride. Well done, A+ review!
thanks man! super appreciate it!
This board has become my daily driver. I don't ride park. It does great in powder, works well in trees, and carves great on groomers.
For 140lb rider would you say 151 or 156?
@@jaybartlett2561 I am 160lbs and have the 151. I love it, but wish I would have gone with the longer option just so I could have even more edge and floatation. It has plenty of edge and floatation and is very nimble in trees. Either size should work well.
@@sam_s_ Yeah I’ll have to see how things go with the 151...worst case scenario I pick up a 156 on sale end of the season. 🤓 I spend a lot of time in the trees so I like a nimble board.
@@jaybartlett2561 151 will treat you well. It is a lot of fun in the trees with some deep snow. It also has a very fast base. Have fun.
@@sam_s_ sounds good 👌🏻
Haha, loved the moment at 2:20 when you pop out of the trees onto the groomer with all the kids are there and you got the shot of mom mean mugging you before disappearing back into the woods!
hahahaha yeah they weren't impressed by my awesome skill.
Love the driftwood selfie stick!!👌🏽
Thanks man! They're disposable, renewable, camouflage and biodegradable!
Awesome review thanks Andreas.
thanks dude!
Thank you Andreas ...just like to learn!!!!!
No worries mate! thanks for tuning in!
Sick! Need to try this one!!
yes, It's definitely worth riding!
Tree lines are the Best!
You know it!
You gotta ride the K2 Alchemist, it’s sooooo good!!!
I loved it too. But I like my arbor cask even more. The lifted fenders really make it feel like a surfboard.
I've never tried one, but I hear they're fantastic!
Which did you prefer this Simple Pleasures or the Korua Dart?
I have one and bought it cause it was on 50% discount and I saw it was 7th on a list of top 10 powder boards. Probably the best board I have ever owned
yeah its a super sweet board!
Would this work on medium to hard snow?
Here we gooooooo yesssss
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Thanks for great review of a board I have been really interested in for a while. Your trees, pow and all MTN riding style lines up with what I like to ride. I would be really curious to see you review the Salomon Asmo HPS 157 in comparison. Very similar on paper, but hard to get a chance to demo both in powder for those of us that don't live in resort town.
I have a Lobster Floater (akin to a Bataleon Magic carpet) which is an all-mountain freestyle and wanted to get a powder-carving board. Undecided between this and the orca ... I’m 175lbs so for the orca I’d probs go with the 153 and maybe 156 or 151 for this? Any comments/advice? Other boards I should consider instead? Thank you 🙏 and great review
This is such a good board, I have seven boards in my quiver and this is easily in my top 3. Some of the best fun you can with this board is ripping trenches on the groomers, it locks in and gives the confidence to drive it hard. I ride a 151, size 9 boot, 85kg (185lbs).
How is it in deep pow?
@@jaybartlett2561 it works well, I took it to Japan and was not disappointed.
@@joeldavis3152 nice 👍🏻 I bought a 151 and where size 9s and weigh 140
What was the size here? I picked up the 151 model after many recommedations in the mail, excited but afraid the stance might not be wide enough.
How do you feel this compares too the k2 coolbean? If you have ridden it much? Thanks
Great informative review! Do you think I can get away with the 151cm at 5’9 175lbs and size 9US boots?
Yeah man, you totally could!
@@AndreasSchubertSnow sweet, thanks for the quick reply!
Would you recommend the 156 or 151 for 6’ 190 lbs
You could use either or, the smaller would be more playful and agile, vs the bigger one would give you better floatation in powder
Similar to the burton skip jack?
Same idea, but more tail.
Did you buy this one?
I have not....yet!
How does the lib tech orca handle moguls?
It handles them really well because of its rocker profile between the feet. It makes the board feel less hooky.
Andreas Schubert Thanks, i was also wondering if you think the burton cartel would be a better match than the burton mission with the orca? I plan on getting one of the two since I’ve found really good deals for both of them
@@galacticyachts1533 the Cartel is higher end. It has auto canting- which allows your feet to sink in just slightly towards the middle of the binding, and a b3 gel in the base for better dampening. Theres also more carbon in the base tray. I prefer the Cartlel.
Awesome, thanks
