I have a 2022 Snowcrest White G5422GT Electromatic Classic and LOVE IT. >> Nerd Alert: Gretsch G5422 and G5420 Electromatics are hollowbody guitars that don't have a center block. The three new for 2022 Electromatic Classic models - G5420 (available in RH and LH versions), G5422 (available in RH and LH versions) and G5422G-12 (12-string) - are each outfitted with Gretsch's newly unveiled advanced trestle bracing system, which the company says provides improved sustain and a snappier attack. These three 2022 Electromatic Classic hollowbody guitars come with Gretsch's newly developed FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups.
@Kevin Barnard Thanks for the reply. I have too many guitars really but I think I will pull the trigger as my shop has a special offer going on at the moment and I only have 2 Gretches in my collection at the moment and one of them is an acoustic. Cheers.
@@redduketeleman - I love this guitar. The FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups sound great in all modes, from lush fingerstyle to jazzy to hard rocking. Also, the 2022 G5422GT Electromatic Classic feels better built than earlier years' G5422 guitars. Seems Gretsch upped their production quality a few notches in 2022.
I like your style and presentation and thanks for a good comparison of these two. I've been shopping for a hollow body electric for a few weeks now and a few G5420T models are at the top of my list. I've looked at that Godin and several of the models under $500 but keep coming back to the G5420T in either blue, black or orange. Weird thing is the first time I saw the orange I thought it was hideous but the color is growing on me and I think that is the one I'm going to buy.
I just picked one up a few months ago-and got one of their Jim dandy parlor acoustics as well-between it and the sounds you can get these days from modelers, daws, and even cheap tube amps I’m legit awestruck at what you can get right now for under $1k, the price of my current setup back when I first started would’ve gotten me a first act amp and maybe a cheap pawn shop strat if I was lucky (which I was not, actually, during my first go round 🤣). Plus imo they are some of the best looking guitars around right now period, so you can look as good as you sound; love what Gretsch is doing these days! I do miss my old Les Paul dc special tho…
@@brettc6132 I love the Les Paul Special DC from around 2000 (1996-2002+), but rarely see them come up for sale. I agree, Gretsch is making great and affordable guitars!
I hear Gibson Les Paul a lot in this video Not sure if it's the amp settings or the short scale neck But I also hear Fender Jazzmaster And other guitar models, An extremely versatile guitar for sure. I have a 2017 5420 electromatic And it's absolutely amazing the sound is unreal They say the 6420 sounds better but I just can't imagine how, you cannot improve perfection
Dead right - the Electromatic G5620 & G5622 are (& always have been) semi hollow with a centre block while the G5420 & G5422 are (& again, always have been) hollow bodies with a floating bridge. The 20 has a single cutaway & the 22 has a double cutaway. The same basic principle of model numbering also applies to the Streamliner series but they start with a 2. Now, can anyone explain to me the random collection of letters & numbers that Ibanez use for their guitars?
Perhaps you have misunderstood the concept here. The host isn’t interested in informing - he is interested in marketing the latest gear. That’s what he’s paid to do. Facts are not of any concern.
Nice video! Love my G5422T in Walnut an excellent sounding guitar whatever style tune I play, great with all pedals and for me looks cool as fuck! Hopefully I’ll never have to get rid of mine, been close a few times with times being hard but it’s the last thing I’d get rid of. For the money they are a great guitar and can’t complain.
I recently got rid of my G2420T and a stagg a300. I have super regret but needs must, I've got my eye one a G5420T, wish me luck. The prices are rising.
Got some Fender acoustic guitars and a uke. Also bought a Gretsch Honey Dipper steel guitar a couple of years back and just love the quality and sound of that. Now I’m looking to buy an electric and thinking about a Tele or G5422TG as I love the sound of both. Leaning towards the 5422 though.
I work in a pawn shop, and we just got a Gretsch in store. I can say with great assurance that Gretsch’s are my favorite guitars!
can't go wrong with electromatic for the price man they are mega absolute gain machines
The 5422 and 5420 never had centre blocks. I’m pretty sure they both always had some sort of bracing though.
Thanks for actually using the Bigsby and calling it out.
I’m always popping in here for gear demos of the guitars I wish I had. Great demo!

Hi Kevin.....what do you think of the FT-5E p/ups?

Got my hands on my 1st Gretsch guitar, G5120 from ‘07. Can’t wait to get a setup done and play!! ❤

A Grestch always is a Grestch, nothing can match this sound in any style !, is very good to all !!
I love these videos, look forward to them all day every day!
I love this dude, it feels like they give him a spec sheets a guitar and a couple lines of blow then throw him in front of a camera😂
Made me LOL
The blue (G5420T) is by far the best looking
the only question I really have.... WHY IN GODS NAME HAVEN'T I BOUGHT A GRETSCH YET?!?

Have you got one yet?
I bought a 5420 in 2017
I'm still Blowin away with it and the novelty has not worn off it at all
It's such a beautiful thing
Because you don't have your priorities in order,
simple as that. Give up the habit.
Insane demo🤘
I love my Rat Rod. Kind of digging the orange.

My son has a Country Gentleman, Gretsch acoustic, Silver Falcon and they all are great
Wasn't the previous 5422 model fully hollow? It was the 5622 that had a centre block.

Almost a Tennessee Rose!

The G5422TG inlays are the classic "hump block" inlays.
Great quality videos guys. Keep up the good work :)

They should have halfmoon position markers.
They both look and sound so gorgeous.... Which one to pick....
I love the sound but I doesn't sound that good when I play them LOL
Same here!
Just hit freaking chords, it sounds great playing simple stuff too!
"What Guitar model do you prefer, G5422TG or G5420T?" my answer to this question, "yes".
Yes the 13 year old yes comment.
Would the g5422t be too bright and twangy through a fender champion 100 amp ?
Gretsch guitars are the best guitars.
How does the C neck feel compared to the U neck. I am a real fan of the U neck
I cant decide yet wish one to buy..
What about the Basses?
Need more tattoos with dog heads, peanuts, car lug nuts and Snickers bars to be an acceptable video about Gretsch guitars.
6:45 BB Kingish sounded nothing like BB King by the way
I want one but they aren’t even available right now 😡😡😡 (Alameda California)
As of June 20, 2022, there are a few of these at Guitar Center San Francisco. Also check Sweetwater.
I can’t make up my mind I keep going between the G5420 and the G5422🤪, and my budget does not allow me to buy both so don’t even suggest that😂

Daganvision :-)
Beautiful guitar ! But the way that guitarstand sits on top of that speaker cabinet makes my stomach turn. 😮
And what do you think Wee Georgie Harrison would think of them...?
❤❕🤘
The biggest difference is in the pickups. FT-5E vs BT Filter’Trons.
Ok, but what are the differences ?
@@huli8557 of that I am not sure. I’ve not heard a side by side comparison yet.
The trestle block is more substantial too. My earlier g5420 has a single post under the bridge. Oh well, looks like I need to buy a new Gretsch!

Rockabilly,No dääadäaa!ITS Not ESP 😂😂😂
The Guitar Sounds Fantastic;; The Player Is Questionable ???
Hmmm... I suppose you are light years better right?
Made in China...hard pass.
Why?
I despise gold hardware.
Loves his overdrive doesn't he? Even the so called clean tones were breaking up. More work on the cleans needed I think.
