I bought myself a Streamliner this year. I absolutely adore and love it. I had an electromatic but I felt it was too hollow and thick. I was just wanting a centerblock that wouldn't generate so much feedback when playing loudly live. It sounds good for all my genres, reggae, jazz, funk, groove, indie rock, dreampop, alternative.
Back in upper secondary school, at 16, I boarded with a family of musicians, and the daughter that happened to be my age had an old electromatic, full hollow body and I loved borrowing that. Finally almost 15 years later, on my 30th birthday, two years ago, I got myself one, and I've never regretted it for a moment. These are incredible guitars for the price, even more so now than just a few years ago when they were a tad more expensive. Mine is primarily used as a jazz box, and yet I can so easily play anything from pop to hard rock on it as well.
I’ve had my Gretsch G5622T in the Single Barrel finish for a couple of weeks now and love it!! The feel, look and more importantly sound quality. I’d been eyeing these guitar for a couple of years and so glad I took the plunge 🙌
I bought the G5622 (sans Bigsby) earlier this week. Although not from Andertons, I'm in America. It's my first semi-hollow, after playing Les Pauls for many many years. I can't seem to put it down. Stellar guitar!
I got one of these. First Gretsch guitar. Superb pickups , great bass and treble , highly stable tuning with the licensed bigsby, fretboard is superb even though it’s made of Laurel, quality is absolutely amazing even though it’s made in China. Unlike any other guitar I have semi or fully hollow. Sounds great with vox ac10 amp. Orange is such a cool color. Not what I expected in such a good way. Try one
THIS opening is what we need more of w/GRETSCH guitar playing. Neck pickup, playing it with touch, feel, emotion, not going for a country twang thang. Brilliant, Captain!
That bit about the beatles knowing chords reminded me of something. I just watched this interview of Richard Smith on Martin Taylors channel. Martin told a funny story about a London taxi driver who told him his relative is the best guitarist he had ever heard and to convince Martin about this guys talents he told him "Chords? he knows them all".
I've gotta say!! That was a wonderful closing jam!! Pete, you are always awesome and Lee, I've really enjoyed watching you come along as a player!! Never sell yourself short!! You are gettin done man!!
I've always loved Gretsches (thanks to having been a massive Beatles fan since I was a kid and George Harrison being one of my biggest guitar heroes/influences) and I will genuinely that those guitars sound amazing and look absolutely gorgeous, fantastic demo as usual guys
Loved that last jam. Tasty stuff from both Pete and the Captain, but the standout bit for me was Captain's chords with the trem action. Added so much. Gave me the raging horn, to be honest.
People are talking about the outro jam, but gawd daym that intro was crazy good! It takes both talent and skill to utilize the sound that you get no matter how good it is, and Captain went above and beyond imho. And Pete at is his usual great of course :)
Love Andertons videos for demos, tests, and fun ideas like guessing the right pedal or guitar. I have been watching this channel for some years now and I can't believe its still under a million subs, they deserve so much more love for the content they put out there and I hope they achieve this with Pete's helpful reminders! :p Keep doing what you guys do best, can't wait to see the next lot of gear that I can test my willpower against and not break my poor bank balance! :D
This channel is nice to keep up with the industry, but don't be fooled by claims about testing. This is all about maximising the output from Andertons warehouse. Critical reviews are very hard to find these days. Most of media and journalism is paid for by ads so there is hardly anyone representing the consumer anymore. Even "independent" reviewers rely on manufactures to supply gear for reviews and will thus hold back most negatives.
@@phel21 I guess as a company whose goal is to flog all the gear shown, it can be hard to get a true idea on how the gear is in reality. However, if you like the look and sound of an instrument they show then that is fulfilling most of the tests I want done. After all, a channels critical review of something suffers from one inevitable thing and that's their own opinion. It's subjective, one person may love St. Vincent guitars and another see them as horrible. Same goes for tone, there isn't a universal "best tone" there is just what you prefer. As for demo's/tests, they can play guitars through super expensive rigs to maximize the sound of an instrument (That pedal show did a great video on this, explaining that what you hear in a demo video isn't necessarily what you would hear at home with your setup and space. It was a really interesting video!) Anyway, the point is that I get it this channel is here to sell the item ultimately, but when they do head to head videos this makes it so that you the listener can make your own mind up about how something sounds and what you prefer, and this goes for demos and "tests" too. Ultimately it's down to us the consumer on whether we like the look and sound of something, and then to further research this item. I use that rule of waiting a month before settling on a decision, mostly, before buying. If I still want it after that time and I've done my research and am happy with it, then it's likely I won't regret the purchase (and I haven't so far with anything I've done this with). What Andertons provide is entertaining, informative videos on products and that's why I believe they should have more of a following. That's just my view though, everyone is entitled to theirs :)
I was on REVERB checking out some Gretches,,,,ive had a Jet and a G5420, and G5120 previously. I came across the G5622T in Speyside, and i was stunned ! Looked amazing! Watched this video. After work, drove 30 minutes to Guitar Center, where they had one in stock. I spent about 10 minutes playing it, and told the guy, Im taking this home. Sounds and looks awesome, stays in tune with the Bigsby. My new favorite axe.
Rick, bought same model at GC 2 wk's ago. Noticed some detuning without using bigsby & gets worse when using bigsby. Strings were slipping on tuner posts because they were just wound around posts without locking. Restrung guitar using a locking wind around the tuner post. Cleared up the problem about 90%. Did you experience any detuning problems when you got yours? Love the 5622t & the sound & the action.
I had a gretsch electromatic with a "Cateye" hole in the body and I regret trading it away. Felt so good to play; wish I'd have given the pickups a second chance.
I agree. I have a 5244 that looks like the one that Pete's playing, although it's fully hollow and has Black Top pickups. I never thought that I'd love a Gretsch. I thought that it would be a gaudy pain in the azz, but it's great, and I play it the most out of my guitars.
Agreed. I bought a Korean-made G5622T a few months ago, and I can’t put it down. Since then, I’ve sold off my Strats and Teles to finance my recent purchase of a G6609 Broakaster. The quality of design and construction of these instruments is unparalleled.
I just picked up one of these and a Sparkle Jet. "Out-of-the box" this model was perfect. If you want a guitar that is versatile, beautiful, and great playing you can't go wrong here. After comparing it to the Sparkle, I'm swapping out the pups for HS filtertrons, but as is the blacktops are great little pickups. I just want that country gent sound for this guitar.

I have the Whiskey Orange colored one with the Bigsby and the neck is so fricken comfortable with a slight chunkyness and i usally play Fender Strats/Tele so its apparent how thick it feels but all os good. Do yourself a favor and get this especially for the price. They have another version of it that cost100 dollars more with gold knobs/Rosewood fingerboard/ made in Korea where as this one displayed on vid is made in China. I was suprised it was made from China since its so good haha Chinas does not always have the best rep and i only noticed that when i got home.
I bought 5622t back in 2019 after having seen the Andertons review of the Electromatic Gretsches. Awesome review, awesome guitars, what’s not to like? :)
