    Thank you, this is super informative and very helpful. Don’t know why people are complaining about “poor production quality” for a video they paid 0 cents to watch. Bunch of entitled brats. Thanks for the great tips. They are very helpful.

    Great video! Question: would you implement all drills in the one session? If so, how long would you spend on each exercise?

    • @SwimCycleRunCoach
      @SwimCycleRunCoach  4 года назад +1

      HI Caroline, I tend to do about 4 different drills in a single session, but there's no reason you shouldn't do 5. I do them in sets of 4 x 50m on a specific time. Hope that helps.

      Kicking on your side drills with your arms by your sides. Change sides after every breath without using your arms, just leave them by your sides. Cheers

    I don't understand what the reason is for doing the Broken Arrow drill?

    • @SwimCycleRunCoach
      @SwimCycleRunCoach  6 лет назад +1

      Initially I had difficulty with this one too, but if done well (and that's the key) this is what it promotes:
      1. By bringing the arm up straight and with the hand pointing back it promotes using the shoulder muscles as the primary drivers of the recovery phase.
      2. Keeping your leading arm on the surface until the arm leaves the arrow phase promotes good timing and a better catch.
      3.You have to do the movement on your side, promoting good rotation.
      Hope that helps. Wayne

      @@SwimCycleRunCoach I know this is already an old topic (and video). One question i wanted to ask is how much rotation in your hips and upper body should there be? Is it just a small rotation to lengthen yourself or can really move/rotate with your whole body from one side to the other?

    • @SwimCycleRunCoach
      @SwimCycleRunCoach  4 года назад +1

      @@windvlaag4404 It depends largely on your speed. The faster you swim the less rotation you need to breathe as the larger the trough you create with your head is.

    Nothing propulsive about the recovery? What recovery? There is no such thing as a recovery or a pull. Mechanically you have moment arms( arm weight times length) the stroke is top side driven. This is why women are so close to men in their swim times. Yet when they train chest and lats in the gym they are nowhere near the strength of the men. You have to create thick water through which a space is provided to slide through. Do runners have recovery in their stride, do paddlers? No.
