    I actually just started doing myofascial work for my hamstrings and old low back injury a couple days before I saw this video. I've done similar massages on myself and I can attest to what he's saying. It feels like you're sticking a fire poker in your leg but the increased bloodflow and mobility is downright euphoric

    Does this have the same effect as the metal tool used for the gastron technique? Location of the old injury is on the sitbone attachment making the metal tool very uncomfortable. If it is only the fascia that’s being worked, perhaps this method would be just as effective?

    Might have to try this. Injured what I thought was my knee 7 months ago, just recently went to the doc because of a lingering dull pain, he did his thing and informed me it was a hamstring injury not a knee injury. He gave me some lower back and hip stretches to do, but this looks like it may help in addition!

    Thank you for this, IV been researching for a passive stretch release ball-assisted.. because golly it's hard enough as it is to actively stretch this part with chronic muscle strain. Muscle strain limits my flexibility and it's frustrating! Active stretching is ideal, but when you're conserving energy due to pain (yes as a pole dancer I know the difference between pain and a deepstretch) this therapeutic method is the best middle ground 💙 thanks again!!

    How lovely, I just did it and what a relief I feel in my hamstrings. It felt amazing, a little painful but nothing I couldn’t breathe through and when I got up I did feel so much tightness.

    Is this safe if you have proximal hamstring tendonipathy? I’ve got a pretty thick, scarred over tendon.

    So essentially pnf stretching removes scar tissue? I’m not sure if what I have is scar tissue but I strained my hamstring seven months ago and it can be painful to sprint/run without warming up and doing nerve flosses

    My high hamstring scar tissue presses on my sciatic nerve so really needs breaking down but this method also presses on my sciatic nerve so I cannot do them due to the pain. What to do?

    Hi I had a very severe pull in my hamstring about eight months ago. I didn’t really stretch or do anything on it for the first six months so I built up a lot of scar tissue, it is very tight and I tried jogging today and I can’t without severe pain. Is there anything I should do besides this? I’m gonna start this today

      Hi Paul, this is a good start. Work on tissues away from the injured area first to avoid over doing it. I’m guessing the pull was at the sitting bone? So, work on stretching the distal hamstring at the knee.

    Hii, how many times should I do this? I’ve recently strained my hamstring and it built scar tissue but there is no physical therapist around my town :(

    • @smartstretch
      @smartstretch  3 года назад

      Hi M, how long ago did you strain the hamstring? I would avoid direct application on the injured area, but can work the surrounding tissue. Once per day with some easy stretching should do the trick. Good luck!

      @@smartstretch it’s been a month ago since I’ve strained it and I don’t feel pain so whenever I try to get on my splits again I start feeling pain even though I have some time to recover and keep doing light stretches 3 times a week
