    I couldn't be happier with my '19 F250 with a 6.2 & 6-speed. I drive the wheels off my truck and it does everything I ask of it, including towing heavy loads & plowing snow. Yesterday I filled up the gas tank with $1.18/gallon gas. It cost me $35.00 for a full tank! The motor is powerful, quiet, & very responsive. I was weighing my options between gas and diesel last fall when I bought it, after 6 months of ownership I can say without a doubt that gas was the right way to go for me. (also added bonus, I've changed my oil 3 times now and it cost me $35 for oil and filter...cheap to maintain too!)

    Your fuel MPG gas vs Diesel needs to include the real cost difference: the additional sales tax on the $8,000 add for the diesel upgrade over the 7.3l Gas (here in WA it is 10% or $800), the nearly $0.60 higher price per gallon of diesel (based on 3/29/20 National averages) plus the cost per gallon of the diesel required DEF fluid.

      Ya, deleting now days is tricky......I would not advise it on a newer truck especially in a state that's outlawed it.....I mive in comi California, so deleting is off the table, plus there is extra registration fees d/t the added weight, plus the cost of maintenance and Diesel Fuel.....I am really torn between the 7.3 and purchasing another diesel.....there is a huge draw to being able to use 87 octane vs. Diesel....and I will be using this as a daily driver...........

      Greg Smith hey buddy have you considered buying a used diesel? I bought a 2014 F250 6.7 powerstroke king ranch a few months ago for 31k with 113,000. I was in the same situation, I live in Arizona so it gets up to 115-120 for months during the summertime,it’s even over 100 at night,I have a f150 that can tow 9,500lbs but my concern was towing during summer,plus mountains surrounding us elevation can get up to around 7,500-8,500 ft plus the heat so I was torn between a f150,F250 (gas),and F250 diesel. I went with the diesel because in the future there will be plenty of high temp high elevation towing. I typically buy vehicles 5-6yrs old I don’t buy new,I’m only 26 but I drive my vehicles to 400-500k. First truck was my uncles 81 f100 450,000 miles on it still ran great. I can do most of the maintenance only thing I’m hating is regens I live southeast of Phoenix so ends up wanting to do regens close to the house. It’s a tough decision,I think tfl said it for like 15mpg,I don’t think it’s bad my 09 5.4 3v gets best 15mpg. It just depends if buying new. Like for me and you as well I have the 6R140 transmission if for some reason the engine took a dump I could put a 6.2 gasser in it,I could put another 6.7 powerstroke, or a Cummins swap. And the truck keeps going down the road. Their is som much you can do.so if you have 400,000 on it and don’t want to get rid of it spend a few grand and put a gasser in. That’s the way I see it buddy. You think I made a good choice and purchase???

      @@brianaustin6184 I do, and you did your research! I currently own an 06 F350 with the 6.0. It has 140K miles and has been towing a 38 ft toy hauler. It has been bullet proofed. I am towing between 13 and 14k with it. For its age it does pretty good. I hear you with buying used. Every vehicle I have ever owned has been used and I have been very lucky. I was really nervous with this truck but with the custom tow tunes it gave me the ability to lock out over drive which has made HUGE differences in how it tows. I will be honest I have gotten cought up in the new HP and Torque gains with these new trucks and have been going against my better judgement with purchasing new vs used....I currently do not have to deal with Def fluid and regen. I have been kicking around the idea of just keeping the ol girl and getting the trans rebuilt and beefing it up and dropping .430's in the rear end...and I would imagine that would be a world of difference between how it tows now. I keep getting close to pulling the trigger on somthing then I look at that payment vs. the appeal of no payment and I know what I have now.......and for you I am familiar with AZ and just how nasty it gets.....judging by the temps you threw out I am guessing Tuscon, Chandler Pheonix area.....so I would have gotten a diesel in your case for sure......they tend to deal better in the heat while towing in my opinion. I have towed my trailer in 115 degree weather up and down grades and I have to blow the thing up.....I am not hammering down on her either but you know what I mean.

      @@brianaustin6184 hey Brian, I hear ya! And appreciate your input. Regard the 4.30's I would not use her as a daily driver if I dropped those in. I haul once or twice a month out to AZ which is an easy pull, then I go up to Oregon and camp out on the coast. The stretch down the 5 is easy.....but hauling through the mountain range up into Oregon is hard on my truck with the trailer fully loaded. Was thinking the gearing would take some of that stress off the drive train and motor.

    I have the xl with stx package and the 6.7 powerstroke, coming from an f150 with the 5.0 there is no way to compare the two, the 6.7 is a beast for towing. We bought a bigger trailer and I really wanted the powerstroke, and am 100% pleased with it. We have several 6.2 at work and I've never been that impressed with it, it gets the job done but for towing the diesel is just class leading and never runs out of torque. The diesel is expensive though, I got mine as a leftover truck for a great price, if they didn't give me the deal I got I would have never went with it.

We eventually landed on a 2019 F350 and with all the incentives and our company rebates we ended up getting enough off the price to more than cover the Diesel so we decided not to wait for the Godzilla. Do all new 3/4 ton trucks weigh north of 8k lbs? My old ‘02 Duramax was about 6,800 lbs and I thought that was heavy. The weight negates much of the Ford’s advantage of an incredible 475hp/and 1k of torque. I got about 18 mpg hwy in my diesel. Not much progress in 18 years. I assume most of weight is in the now fully boxed HD frame. Could they lop off 1k lbs? PS: Where is Moab video?

Split the difference via the new Godzilla V8? I care about payload, mpg, fx4 off road package, and overall cost(s).

    • @gregparrott
      @gregparrott 4 года назад

      That would be wonderful, But I doubt 500k miles could be achieved with any substantial towing. That's where the Diesel will shine. It has a beefier block, better iron in the block, bigger bearings, etc. In addition the maximum torque and maximum horsepower of Ford's Diesel occurs at half the RPM, so there is much less scuffing and friction.

      IOW I will do and have done Ford for half tons, would do either GM or Ford 3/4, and like Ram for the 1 ton (because the drivetrain isn't Ram at all when you get the HO).
