Hey Peter, you are the only person i know on youtube that goes such in depth on Toyota engines, especially the legendary 4afe/7afe. Keep up the good work and i am looking forward to more videos!
hey Peter, I'm a new subscriber, love your videos, you're deffinately a go to guy like -scotty, chris fix and that other big Italian dude. your virtual repairs are awesome by going thought the steps is easy to understand and gives people the confidence to DIY or simply to have a better understanding of what is going on under the hood.
Hello I was watching your video and very interesting my problem is my vehicle has no check engine light I burn oil through the exhaust but nobody can tell me where the leak is coming from I need to get a leap down test done it doesn't blow smoke out the exhaust all the time mainly when I stop at a light or a stop sign and take off otherwise it runs great what should I do should I swap the engine do the compression leak down test and the compression test and then go from
Hi Piter ! My mechanic replaced new brake Vacuum pump so he started engen and drives fast 50metars after cant started again mehanic said engine lost all compression so car can't start, however he checked all around engine and all good to dem. His can not find what problems issues??? My car is Ford kuga 2014 auto. Thanks in advance Alex
Dear Peter, Thanks you for your videos! They are really helping me understand my Matrix 1.8L I have a problem with a crank, no start after I replaced the intake vvt gear due to the rattle on cold start. I may have had the timing off, but when I was checking by hand/ratchet. I hit the valves with the piston. I then re-checked the timing using your other video and double checked TDC and orange chain links to make sure. I re-assembled and have crank, no start. I will do a compression check next to find them problem. Any advice? Could I have done that much damage by hand to the valve? The other thing is I do not hear the fuel pump priming when the key is turned to ignition, but the car will not start with starting fluid and there is spark, so it must be compression. Thanks!
Hello and thanks for the comments. Measure piston and cylinder compression. Pressure must be more than 10 Bar in all cylinders. Watch my video. If the pressure is low, you need new piston rings. And video on compression test: ruclips.net/video/eUdBq_QL0Dc/видео.html
Hey Peter. Maybe you can give me some ideas. I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe , which has a 1.8-liter Toyota engine, that will crank but not start. The problem is cylinders 1, 2, and 3 have zero compression. What could be some of the causes. I am thinking maybe a blown head gasket. I bought the car in this condition. I notice it has a leaking water pump and is low on water. I also notice small amount of coolant in the oil. I think the previous owner ran it hot and warped the head.
You have a really, really bad bug now. You have to disassemble the machine and first check if the pistons are OK. Then check the valves. And the cover gasket. It already sounds like a complete piece of junk for a machine...Sorry, mate!
Yep I noticed that. The zero compression cylinder was furthest from the timing belt (so would usually be called cylinder 4), but the one with the damage was the second from the timing belt.
@@MrZalcatraz the strange thing Is that I retested the compression and it was the same in all cylinders. The vibration is still there. I think that there is something wrong with the camshaft....
The head needs a valve job. The valves are dirty, so they cannot close completely. This job requires a removal of the head and new head gasket when putting the head back to the engine.

A recommendation for you. I do a compression test and if any cylinder has low pressure. That's how he fixes the cylinder.

How is it possible that broken valve in cylinder 3 was a reason for not having compression in cylinder 4 that was clearly on the side of the engine?
The broken valve was in the same cylinder where was low compression. Sorry for wrong info.
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor, That's not true, you demonstrated no compression in cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 had the hole.
Yep I noticed that. The zero compression cylinder was furthest from the timing belt (so would usually be called cylinder 4), but the one with the damage was the second from the timing belt.
@@Wildart2 that is true. He mentioned cylinder one first
Price to fix this plus labour?
About 1000 US $
I tested the compression in my 1.6 tdci engine 3 cylinders have 30 bar and one has 19 bar. What the problem in your opinion.? Thanks
Good Comment. Thank you!👍😀
low compression :)
In 7 months I hope you found your answer

my celica 7afe is misfiring on cylinder one . it has spark and my injector is new . no luck :( any suggestions?
Coil-on-Plug (COP) ignition coil. And low compression rate
The head needs a valve job. The valves are dirty, so they cannot close completely. This job requires a removal of the head and new head gasket when putting the head back to the engine.
You could have also done a cylinder leak test to see where the issue was before removing the head.
excellent vid keep up the good work :)
Thank You for Your comment. :-)
my car sounds just like this so it doesn't mean that the engine jumped time does it and how did you fix your problem thanks
Good. 👍😀
Good is not an answer
hi peter im new to, i think your spot on, keep going bud well done very good easy to understand video.
Welcome aboard!
Did that cause lot of white smoke
Yes
Gracias por valioso aporte. Muchas Bendiciones.
I have this problem with my 2010 honda crv, no compression in cylinder 3 😩
Thanks 👍
good morning I have a 4efe engine I lose compression on number 4 cylinder i change spark plugs I lost compression on number 4 cylinder
Hi, maybe valve damage.
Thank u
Thank you 👍🏼 very good video✌🏼
Thanks for comment. 👍
Very helpful.. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
THANKS A LOT!!!
How did the valve break in the first place? You didn't let your high school son use the car on the weekends did you?
Good 👍
Thank you for sharing your knowledge sir, well done.
Hi Sir and Thank You for feedback. :-)
nice video
Thanks! :-)
Now I may find why don't have any compression,,,
Thank You 👍. I read your message. 😀
If youre reading this comment, just know, somewhere out there had this exact problem. And that someone is me. And that someone is f#cked.
Thanks, Good info. 👍😃
9 par is not good at least 12 par
Good comment 👍
