@@mikesunboxing smashed the sub btn! ? Know anything about the Asus x570 proart creator mobo and the slow tb4 write speeds? I’ve been scraping the web all day and can’t get a solve. Mike, your recent videos helped me save my server mainboard😄👍 Just wanted to share my yesterdays scary experience with bios mysteries: Asus Prime b450 Plus board, Ryzen 2700x: put in new 32 Gb Ram. Perfectly booting, but couldnt get into bios to adjust frequency, just an active, but black screen. Exchanging ram modules, trying different slots, trying hdmi and display port, another monitor, taking bios battery out didnt help. Couldnt update bios via windows (the board doesnt support it), no flashback available. Finally, but not recommended, i used the legacy asus bw-updater tool for Dos. This let me start the flash process, but insta failed and corrupted the bios as planned. Then i put a usb stick with the renamed bios file in a mobo usb slot and restarted. Boom, bios update worked via Asus crashfree bios update, everything working perfectly and Ram running at 3600 speed without issues. Crash free is really obsolete, but it did its thing. Nice!
Mike can you do a video where you purposefully brick a motherboard by interrupting the flash process and then use BIOS Flashback to rescue the bricked board back to life? I also want to see if the board will open and show the CrashFree error prompt for you to insert a USB stick to correct the issue or if you will just have a dead board. I have the ASUS Prime B650M A-II CSM and it has BIOS Flashback, I'm just terrified if the process doesn't work if I can flashback a version earlier or try the process again indefinitely without being afraid of having to RMA. And the updating of the BIOS using the Qflash Plus button on the back of the mobo went perfectly. I just inserted the USB drive with the latest BIOS file renamed to GIGABYTE.bin and then i with only the 24pin and one cpu 8pin i pressed the Qflash Plus button on the mobo's back side and the my PSU immediately turned on and the LED started to flash fast and after a little time it was flashing slow. So i left the system alone for a while to do it's thing and if i remember i think it switched off after it was done updating the BIOS. I've always thought it was a BIOS problem so I followed your instructions in another video to use the flashback feature, but yet somehow since unable to get this thing to post. Who knew it was the drive's format that's the culprit. Delighted now to see it went straight to BIOS when all's said and done.
@mikesunboxing I see. I tried now an 32GB USB-Stick MBR FAT32 but the QFlashPlus-LED still doesnt light up. The fans do spin for a second and the CPU-LED lights up for a second. Unfortunately that is it though :/ *EDIT*: The USB-port wasn't fully plugged in. Colleague of mine pushed it way harder and now it is flashing. Thought first he broke the port! After updating the BIOS via QFlashPlus, the motherboard (gigabyte b650m aorus elite ax ice) finally doesn't show the DRAM-LED anymore and recognizes the CPU (9950X). Thank you for your great video!

Both my USB drives are correctly formatted and not GPT, and neither of them flash the bios. One even causes the mobo to activate all the other parts for a moment before the light flashes, and goes solid.

@mikesunboxing While I haven't fixed that specific issue, I just ended up installing the old cpu and using the M-Flash function in the bios with the same USB drive and it worked without issue. Thanks for the response though!
I used xmp and pc wouldn't start flashed bios to newest version it booted up with cpu light I removed cmos battery now nothing boots up trued different bios version still nothing I troubleshooted my hardware to is there anything that can help me?
I cleaned the flash drive and switched it to mbr from commandprompt and it did what it was suppose to do, and it still won't complete the flash?? should i use mych341 mini programmer?
UPDATE: The BIOS in Gigabyte motherboards does not allow updating from all pendrives, even if they are formatted correctly in FAT32 filesystem. Some media are recognized in the BIOS as Floppy, not as HDD - the symptom is that when using the QFLASH button, the LED on the media flashes, but no update takes place - the LED on the motherboard does not work. In this case, just use a different medium.
I tried in 2 USB sticks, i’ll get another USB with my brother and try, i already convert then to MBR and fat32, o tried too without name or with name USB
I’ve gone thru all my wiring and GPU and RAM to make sure it’s all good. I have converted it MBG, renamed it to MSI.ROM (I’m using a 5800x3d on mpg x570 carbon wifi***) to flash the BIOS. I have it in correct port for flashing….. And it still instantly stops….. It’s definitely CPU related issue. Either CPU or Mobo faulty or I’m not flashing it correctly somehow…… would faulty cpu or mobo cause issues to flash?

Hi, dont know you still read comment of this video again....i tried all steps but it was not fully clean up as a file name 'system information' all the time showed in the usb....will it affect as i tried several disk flash and cant recover !
unfortunately, this did not fix my issue. I tried with new (USB 3.0) USBs and the USB 2.0s ...did exactly what was directed here and still didn't work. Made sure I was using the most updated (but not BETA) version of my BIOS, as well. I'm stuck and don't know what to do.
@mikesunboxing yea, i did that, too. Was making sure I was following your steps to the T. I also checked out your earlier vid which was basically the same just a bit longer, and you went through it step-by-step in the video. What doesn't make sense to me is how a mobo "doesn't like" a USB stick. I've seen countless videos stating this type of phrase. Now, does this mean my mobo is no longer functional or "bricked"? I would assume no, just a very expensive paper weight until I figure this issue out. Thanks for replying, though.

Hello, thanks for sharing. I have a problem: I updated my motherboard B450 to a Asus B550-Plus Wifi II and set everything (CPU, GPU, etc, etc) and when I tried to start with the new mobo It did not start up the CPU and no fans spinning, just the RGB from the mobo and a red light indicating power over the GPU. I tried to update the BIOS with Flasback but in the first try didn't work because I prepared the USB Flashback with a Mac and coudn't run the scrypt to change correctly the name of the file from the BIOS. So, I went out and bought a new USB and this time on a PC, came back to try for a second chance (I interrupted the first attempt by holding 5 sec the power button) and this second time is still flashing... 40 min by now... any suggestions? It won't stop blinking in different rythms.

no one answer an important question: can the pendrive be removed while the light isnt blinking and its on, or you must first shut down de psu before doing it?
I'm asking because I've encountered an error and the light is solid rather than flashing. I want to remove the USB but I am hesitant as I don't know if it will mess up the MB. Shutdown PSU first, or remove USB first?
I took the cpu and ram off the board and now it'd flashing..hope the bios takes because it's been flashing for about 2 minutes. it just stopped . thanks for the video.

I have the same problem with the TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS, unfortunately, the trick not working with the mobo, the motherboard light flashes 7 times and stays solid green, I have already used a few different USB, formatted in fat32, converted to the MBR, no luck. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers Tom

hey daniel, having the exact same issue with the exact same MOBO, did you happen to find a solution?

Both my USB drives are correctly formatted and not GPT, and neither of them flash the bios. One even causes the mobo to activate all the other parts for a moment before the light flashes, and goes solid.

I cleaned the flash drive and switched it to mbr from commandprompt and it did what it was suppose to do, and it still won't complete the flash?? should i use mych341 mini programmer?
if you have one sure try it
Odd, followed instructioms and drive became unusable, says unknown capacity and Windows is unable to format
that is weird? if it was front USBs try the ones on the rear IO

Hey man, my b550m blinking red light forever When i try update bios qflash, i try this and not work for me, can you help me?
sounds like it can't read the file or the USB stick, make sure it is MBR and fat32 and the filenale is right and the file is unzipped

Hi, dont know you still read comment of this video again....i tried all steps but it was not fully clean up as a file name 'system information' all the time showed in the usb....will it affect as i tried several disk flash and cant recover !
try using the diskpart command to "clean" the usb disk, if you get stuck try our discord server
unfortunately, this did not fix my issue. I tried with new (USB 3.0) USBs and the USB 2.0s ...did exactly what was directed here and still didn't work. Made sure I was using the most updated (but not BETA) version of my BIOS, as well. I'm stuck and don't know what to do.
check the drives are MBR not GPT
@mikesunboxing yea, i did that, too. Was making sure I was following your steps to the T. I also checked out your earlier vid which was basically the same just a bit longer, and you went through it step-by-step in the video. What doesn't make sense to me is how a mobo "doesn't like" a USB stick. I've seen countless videos stating this type of phrase. Now, does this mean my mobo is no longer functional or "bricked"? I would assume no, just a very expensive paper weight until I figure this issue out. Thanks for replying, though.

Used 4 usb drives all formatted fat32 cleaned an converted to mdr on command prompt. Nothing works. I literally cant buy 2.0 drives under 64gigs anywhere so i have to format it. Everything i try ends up wits a continuous flash light instead of blinking. Is my mobo just e waste at this point? No tutorial helps and im actually going mad over it the past 4 days.
is the board a new retail version or from a pre built pc? some manufacturers use a custom bios that you can only get from them

How do I Flashback Bios without Flash button? Please badly needed help 😢
you can't sorry

MSI Manual says:
Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the LED near the Button starts flashing.
There is no LED near the Button !?
yes it is just next to the button but behind the IO shield
no one answer an important question: can the pendrive be removed while the light isnt blinking and its on, or you must first shut down de psu before doing it?
if the light is out or not blinking it is fine to remove
Just so I'm clear on this as I don't want to mess up my motherboard, if the light is solid, you can remove the usb without shutting down the psu?
I'm asking because I've encountered an error and the light is solid rather than flashing. I want to remove the USB but I am hesitant as I don't know if it will mess up the MB.
Shutdown PSU first, or remove USB first?
