  • Are Reloop's RP-8000 and RP-7000 turntables viable alternatives to the Technics 1200? DJcityTV's Mojaxx finds out in this week's episode of "Tips & Tricks." He also looks at Reloop's budget turntable, the RP-2000.

    I got 2x 7000 6 months ago for under £500. feel so much nicer than my 1200s only issue is pressing the start stop button doesn't give the same break effect but serato gives you an echo break that I assigned to a midi button on my korg nanopad which sounds awesome. unbeatable for the money! stick the nanopad 90 deg on between one deck and your mixer then user one side for left deck and one for the right it feels better than the 8000 and basically become part of your mixer. cheaper too! such a good buy!

    The Reloop RP-2000MK3 was my first turntable I bought about 12 years ago.
    Looked just about the same as that one, but without the USB port.
    Fun little entrylevel turntable that was only 130 euros each back then, worked fine for bedroom DJing.

    Well if you turn the stylus on 23 degree to the outside on an S tonearm than it is a stable needle to scratch as well on a straight tonearm. I did it it works great. I use the Ortofon OM Pro S Version.

    Should have noted that the 7000+8000 don't come with headshells and cartridges (I believe the 2000 does, and my 4000 did). Biggest complaint with my 7000 is that Dicers don't fit properly; I use some bluetac to raise them above the extra start/stop buttons. Additionally unless your a Serato user who loves the BPM counters, 7000s with Dicers is a far better option.

    Well... I have a pair of rp2000m (no usb) and I am using them for mixing - long mixes, as it is called nowadays. I am not a club DJ, mixing is my hobbie - just for the soul you know. And imo they are good enough for this purpose, yet the seller in a shop warned me that they are totally NOT. Yes, they have some disadvantages, but they are not bad. The motor is not so powerful so you cant stop vinyl by hand while platter still runs, it stops. Some slight speed 'walking' present. But if you dont scratch, then you are easily able to mix using them. I spent 430eur for a new pair and they fit for me. I would give them a beginner level for dj mixing. I hope this info will helpful for anyone.

      @@linozhou1049 Yes, they can be used for scratching. But the record will take a moment to get back up to speed once you let go of the platter or record. But for it's price it's probably the best you're going to get.

      @@dmitriymikhailovich6170It stops after the backspin, before spinning forward again? If so, that's perfectly normal. If it doesn't allow you to backspin at all, then that's not normal.

    • @SSJfraz
      @SSJfraz 5 лет назад

      @@dmitriymikhailovich6170 Nope, it's perfectly normal. The more torque the turntable has, the quicker it will revert to spinning clockwise again. More advanced turntables allow you to adjust the torque allowing for longer backspins. But the turntable will always revert to spinning clockwise again, unless it has a reverse function.

    Get the 4000s instead of 2000s, significant improvement, still affordable!

    •  5 лет назад +1

      What about the tonearm on the 4000? I've heard it's kind of the same light weighted arm... I've tried 2000s and they tend to jump off very easy on my old (really well and clean) records sometimes... I had a crappy Stanton STR8-20 and though the short straight arm is really a problem, the weight didn't actually meant a problem when it came to skipping issues. What can you tell? Thanks!

    Hi!
    I need your help guys!
    I currently own a Stanton ST 150 and want to exchange it with another platter, at least as good, but closer to the feeling of Technics. The Stanton has a much stronger torque than the Technics. I usually play on Technics at clubs and the first few minutes are strange because i must to get used to the sensitivity of the Technics.
    So, the reloop rp 7000 will fit to my needs ? Thanks in advanced!
    Any opinion is welcome :).

    • @computerschreck
      @computerschreck 5 лет назад +4

      I know you asked this nine months ago, but I still want to answer: I own both, a set of 1210 mk5s and a pair of RP7000s, and you can set the Reloops to behave 99% like the Technics - they have a torque and start/brake adjustment above the pitch fader, and I find that setting the torque to just slightly more than the 12 o'clock setting and the start/brake to just above minimum makes the 7000s feel just like a pair of 1200s. Hope that's been helpful 🙂

    Feedback performance is irrelevant when using a DVS system like Serato or Traktor
    (or the forthcoming REKORDBOX DVS from Pioneer) I love the Reloop RP-8000 turntables for there silky smooth pitch fader, hi torque motor, adjustable START & STOP (although it would be better to have 2 separate knobs. 1 or START and 1 for STOP)
    And midi control but the ENCODER Reloop use for there scrolling and loading is absolute garbage! And you can't switch off the moving platter without cutting the power to the whole deck (which means losing midi functionality) these are massive floors with the RP-8000. Please address these problems!

      I habe two of those and learned beatmatching on it. I bought them used and very cheap. I spent 50$ on both of them, one was broken and could be repaired. For learning purposes it is definitly good enough. I learned beat matching with them and it is super awesome, if I come into a club and use technics, because they are way more precise. If you are used to crappy stuff, everything else gets far more easy on technics ;) And you would not hear my transitions to be crap on the rp2000s. But i have to admit, the scratching ability is rather limited, the platter stops really easily. But as I actually only play deep/tech house on vinyl, it does not matter to me.
      All in all:
      Learning beatmatching is a process where the gear does not help too much. Buy something affordable on a budget, if you do not like it, resell it. If you are lucky, you get the same money back, if you bought used stuff. But learning beatmatching will take you a few weeks of practice, so don´t get frustrated after a few hours ;)

      @tylerzahradnik1079 8 лет назад +1

      I actually bought a pair of the 2000's for Djing. I have used Technics , Stantons , etc. In my honest opinion , the 2000's perform great. I am running Scratch Live with the pair and the Reloop RMX22i. I am amazed on how great they are. I am using Dj QBert's butter rug slip matts and they scratch pretty well. You will have to learn to be a bit more light handed when Djing with them , due to the fact the motor does lack a bit in power.. BUT great turntables.

    • @jimboblivesforever
      @jimboblivesforever 7 лет назад +1

      Sure, you can learn beatmatching and mixing on these. Two problems though: The wobbly platter will annoy you, because you have to handle these TTs more carefully, and that shows, even when only beatmatching. The other thing is the torque. I haven't used these specific TTs yet, but from my experience, the lower torque needs some time to get used to - and when you got used to it, you will have to adjust every time you use someone else's setup, or even club gear. If you can live with all that, then these are fine.
      Edit: I just realized how old this video is. Oh well, someone might still watch it and read the comments.
