    Soooo...as a point of clarity for everyone who didn't listen to my initial opening comment, I am comparing the PLX 500 to the Technics because I could not find any reviews on it (the PLX 500). It is COMPARED to the 1200 to show the differences that I FOUND. I am a fan of Pioneer and it was not meant to bash the PLX 500 unit. I initially thought of replacing my Technics for something newer and thought I would give them (the PLX 500) a try. I COMPARED them based on what I found. So based on MY COMPARISON I feel that the 1200 is better. Thanks for the likes!

    Technic 1200 is at least $1000. Some places are more. I just bought the Pioneer 500 for $370. It works the same. The swivel feet help with vibrations. Technic 1200 so old school. You forgot to mention: The Pioneer has its own amplifier built in and you can hook it to a computer for recording your music.

    There is s Shell Weight included when you buy this turntable. It adds +4g onto your cartridge which is enough to prevent Amy unwanted skipping through movement. it also decreases the amount of wobble/movement when scratching! very useful IF you choose to use the included cartridge.

      The torque of the original technics is 1,5 Kilo, so it's the same as the plx 500! The plx 1000 has 4,5 Kilo - THAT you can actually call "high torque". For me it doesn't matter anyway. What matters is the wrms. It's 0,01 for the technics and 0,15 for the pioneer, which is a difference of more than 10 percent! Think about that...

    How can you compare tonearm movement, yet yo use two different needles and head shells. Was the height adjustment, equal across both turntable? Were the slipmats the same? you have to account for all of these variables before you can truly say, one tonearm moves less than the other

    we sell the 500's at my job (Sweetwater sound) the motor is more like that of the Numark TT-200. I much prefer the 1200, stronger motor. the 500 is plasticy.. Regarding the tone arm I would change the cart to the Shure M447, you'll find the needle sticks in the groove much better. The 1200 is just a better built deck hands down, the 500 is ok for the newb, but for a serious DJ the 1200 is gold standard.

    • @redd7188
      @redd7188 6 лет назад

      I bought a gemini 2400 turntable from a yard sell for just $50. The motor is just as strong if not stronger than a 1200. I did not know what I had bought and I guess the people who sold it did not know what they had. My dj buddy came over and he to was blown away. I found a matching table on ebay for $75. I just keep my 1200's secure in the box now. Funny part is I put some stickers over the Gemini sign and everyone thinks they are 1200's until I them otherwise.

    If you ever needed to replace one of your technics then I'd recommend the Reloop 7000 Mk2 - absolute stellar units. Especially for scratching with the variable high torque motor. 👍

    • @robinmcara793
      @robinmcara793 2 года назад

      How is the torque? Good enough for tutrntablist's? Also, how durable are they overall, you can have plenty of torque on a banger & you also get bangers that look amazing but the torque just isn't there, I hope you get what I'm saying. I have Technics 1210's Mk11's, Stanton STR8-150's, I also have an old Numark C.D./ Vinyl hybrid Turntable, It's great but a tad dated. It had the highest torque of any other Numark turntables at the time, interchangeable tone arm, You can play it as just a normal turntable however it has a Special spindle which allows you to control a C.D. it has a drive on the front making it one of the 1st true hybrid's of its kind, next to the QFO I cant think of anything else that allowed you to switch between vinyl and C.D. The control platter/ record also had samples & tones on it to scratch to a beat playing from the same single unit, 1st time dealing with key lock too. The Vestax PDX 1000 have the pitch I'm looking for, how does the Reloop 7000 Mk2 compare to the deck's I have mentioned? I think the Pioneer 1000 is what I'm going to go for, then it will be easier to save up for a C.D.J. 3000 for the other channel's on my XDJ XZ. Sorry for rabbiting on a bit much lol

    I Bought two of the PLX 500s and I'm very disappointed. I chose the newer technology over the old and I'd 100% recommend sticking with the old. Although you can record all your vinyl straight off the turntable and have a digital version of it to play on cdjs the technics are miles ahead in terms of how well built built they are. My tone arm lock broke straight off, out the box and it's taking me so long to get it fixed due to the parts having to come from China. The plx 500s are 100% made with shitty plastic and they have such a bad cheap to them when handling them. Get technics and never look back.

      Buying Techs isn't as easy as people say it is, and there are super good new age turntables, the VL12's are better than Techs, and honestly so are the reloop 7 and 8000's, and I also love playing on the PLX 1000's, it's all opinion, yes Techs are super badass, but to get an actual good pair you will spend at least close to or more than 1000 bucks, and they usually ship from Japan, and they need a converter to plug into the electrical sockets over here... They also don't come with a warranty, if they break you are fucked, have to send it out to get repaired, or try to fix yourself, whereas the new ones, are covered and will be replaced!!

    • @Jobu_
      @Jobu_ 2 года назад

      With the AT LP120 you need to mod it to bypass the crappy internal phono pre-amp which dampens the sound and run the phono signal to an external phono box. Noticable improvement in sound but it adds to the cost

      @@Takeshi357 Yes there is a switch but it doesn't really bypass the pre-amp. Plenty of videos and forum posts around showing that the tonearm signal still needs to traverse several capacitors which dampen the sound.
      Trust me, the hype is real - the $80 it cost me to have my LP120 modded at the local record store was the best investment I made in the turntable. Made the sound louder and brighter. Way better improvement than when I put on the Ortofon Nightclub Mk2 cartridge. Of course, you then either need to run the phono output to a phono input on your receiver or buy a phono pre-amp (I got a Project Phonobox E), but if you don't mind spending a couple of bucks on your hobby its not an issue.

      But don't get the wrong idea , I love my LP120 and otherwise completely agree. If you can't afford the SL1200, you're better with LP120 than PLX500, because AT closely resembles Technics.

    Hey how's it going I'm Dj Coronaboy ... In my opinion if you're going to compare Dj Equipment use flagship equipment... So instead of comparing a "Dj entry level" PLX - 500 vs "Dj standard" Technics 1200 you should rightfully use the PLX-1000 instead. I personally have all 3 and would never compare a 500 vs 1200. PLX - and also to be fair the same type of needle if anything (the same needle) should be used... the 500 comes with its own sub par cartridge.. you can't compare that to a Stanton cartridge while showing the differences.. In the end you need to try the PLX 1000 vs 1200's both to see the slight differences and the weight and led light won't be 2 of them... while the 1200's are built to last and still the industry standard at this time the PLX 1000 comes with a detachable power cord and RCA plugs which are a plus but are very similar once you are on them both... again in my opinion ..

      James Armendariz Great comments and I agree. I was just curious on the performance of the 500. When I made the video, I didn’t see many 500 videos on the performance of them besides the paid advertisements.

    Why compare a $400 TT to a much more expensive one?
    The Plx500 is fine for what it is.
    The Plx1000 is the the direct competitor to the Technics.

      You should already know that in the DJ and audio business...you get what you pay for.
      I have Plx500 and a Technics 1200.
      I knew before I even got the plx that even though respectable, that it wouldn't measure up to the 1200's.
      The difference in the motor's torque already saw to that.👍🏾

    Loco es obvio que la aguja del 500 se mueva,si le tienes puesta una Mierda de Aguja ,porle esa misma porquería de aguja al Technics para qué veas lo qué sucede.Y esa aguja la trae para resorber y escuchar vinilos pero para scratch TIENES qué Cambiarla.

    You compare astethietics (i.e., the light) that have nothing to do with sound output. it's obvious you are not an audiophile. Also, how much bumping are you doing during your sets that causes your table to shift? This is a bad review comparison.
