To be honest i think Moa really rose to the challenge here. She had to do the work of two people and she absolutely killed it. Her dancing was on point, her singing was on point and it just felt like she gave it 110%. Of course it's sad that Yui wasn't there but they all stepped up and came together to make it an amazing performance anyway. Really great work from all of them.

Eventually they made a statement that Yui was unwell and would not be performing on the tour. She then also missed the European tour in June, which caused further speculation. It wasn't until October 19th 2018 that it was formally announced that Yui was not longer an active part of Babymetal. The exact reasons have never been specified, but it was explained as a "health matter" and apparently it is the practice in Japan not to discuss medical matters. Yui also issued a statement in which she thanked the fans, apologized for letting them down, and saying that she hoped to see them again in the future as Yui Mizuno. Since then, Su and Moa have continued as a duo, with one of three backup dancers (called the Avengers) in Yui's old spot. The Avengers don't sing however, they just do Yui's choreography. As for Yui, no-one knows anything about what she is up to; all Su and Moa have said when asked is that they still talk to Yui and that she is doing well.

BabyMetal had a choice when Yui left. Replace her with a copy and continue or evolve and grow. I am grateful that they chose the latter. Su was always the focal point and she has grown into a true Queen of Metal. The new songs are awesome and still have that J-Pop melodic feel in the choruses and above all, BabyMetal is still absolutely unique. I've said it before, as a 50 year old musician, I needed something new and needed to know that metal would continue to be the Force in music that it was. I've been watching this over and over, can't get enough! (Especially "Tattoo", just amazing!) Thank the Fox God for BabyMetal!
I agree with you. I'm an old school metal/thrash dude as well and wasn't interested the band, but seeing this live changed it all for me. I've always liked showy "fun" rock bands like Kiss and Lordi, and weird J-pop mixed with hardcore metal hits the same spot extremely well. Looks like they're maturing nicely and this set + choreography starts to sound like a proper metal band. I'd have no problem seeing them live and am interested to see what's next for them.

Even after 5 years of listening to Babymetal, Su-metal never ceases to amaze me. To dance and sing live like that, while battling against the huge sound of the band...godly...
They use backing tracks to keep their place but su's vocals are 100% live and so are moa's at her parts but obviously since all their old songs had yui's vocal track that's why sometimes moa sounds like she had 2 voices when she's singing all the back up duet stuff but besides that it's just there to help the kami band keep time and the new dancers know the ques for each choreography change (if they can't look at moa when dancing of course)

So many complaints in these comments. This band is still AMAZING. The choreography and the music is incredible. They're definitely not little girls anymore, it's really cool how they've matured into adult women. Bands change, enjoy it for what it is.

Love this concert Su is the best Asian vocalist I've ever heard. The heart and soul of BM. She could and probably eventually will launch a solo career when her English is good enough.

One of the best sets I was fortunate enough to mosh too. Me and my friends stumbled into this stage since we didnt know who they were prior too and I'm glad we did!
This is my 1st time hearing this band.. Not only do I absolutely love their style, but I’m kinda in love with this singer. She’s amazing in every way and is crazy talented
this band is amazing. they dont just sing, they dont just dance, they also act. theyre amazing at getting across emotion just with their body language, and you can really see it during songs like death and karate

This kind of sound is a result of taking the stream sound straight from the mixing desk. Mixes that work on big open-air systems rarely sound good on standard systems/headphones
It's a rare band that puts on a live show that sounds this good. I actually prefer their live sound to the studio recording. Better energy and flawless performance.

Almost two years later...they did what they thought was the best at the time. It was turbulent in the BABYMETAL camp. Mikio passed away, YUI had severe health issues, they tried to get the show running. The hate that they got back then is so sad. They were not real fans. BABYMETAL and crew did their best and they put on a great show every night on that tour! In retrospective, they did the right decisions. Look where they are now! :) Since 2013 when I first learned about them and forward, I'll love BABYMETAL!
I've just recently discovered Babymetal and they are amazing. They've gone from these extremely talented young ladies to seasons young women. Their stage presence alone is something to behold. Then there's the band. Backing up such talent is hard to do but they more than do so. They shine without trying to outshine these women. Both have style and talent. They do something that most wouldn't think would work and yet it more than does. Fox god be praised.
Man...when it comes to putting on a persona and being a larger than life rock star or metal icon...these girls TOTALLY GET IT. The band is heavy af, with Pantera-esque groove too. Whatever you may think of this band...poppy, campy, cute...passing fancy...it works, and they're seriously on their game and grinding hard with touring. They deserve their fame and the respect of the metal community
Probably Jin Wei had the best shot of his life when Feng Li left the band. After the surgeon said that he couldn't sing anymore, and when Weng went off, they knew it was the time of some good kung fu.
The novelty of little girls fronting a metal band is gone. However, Babymetal remains one of the most uniquely entertaining bands around. Losing Yui-chan and Mikio-sensei, while tragic, still leaves a whole lot of talent on display!

y h - Paved the way? I don't think they did what you might think. They taught us that controllers of Asian bands will say or do anything just to get the ticket sales. They failed to inform the public of Yui's absence so it would not effect ticket sales. They failed to provide lyrics to most of the songs until after the tour was over. They used us to test out their new Babymetal concept instead of using their own Japanese fan base. They lied regarding the group performers...Yui's injured, Yui's sick. How stupid do they think we are? They taught us that foreign fans do not deserve the same respect they give their own. I don't believe these behaviors will be helpful for the next group to visit America.
This show/video is great for several reasons. Their costumes were striking and unique. It was a daylight concert so we could actually see a lot of action with the Kami band. And Moa was in top form, especially during Distortion - she was rocking that stage hard!
I absolutely love this. I do feel heart broken that yui isnt there anymore. Unfortunately, these things happen. But I absolutely love their sound. It's so unique. Sweet and hard. Like lightning striking a unicorn. I cant get enough. The level of energy they have and the steady voices. It's so amazing
The fact Moa does the majority of Yui's parts, and they didnt just use one of the other girls on stage as a replacement shows such respect to both Yui and the fans. You cant just replace Yui and they know it. You just have to move on~

Kami band is the best. So tight! This band should be headlining. Pretty sure they were the best performers at that fest.
This is my 1st time hearing this band.. Not only do I absolutely love their style, but I’m kinda in love with this singer. She’s amazing in every way and is crazy talented

this band is amazing. they dont just sing, they dont just dance, they also act. theyre amazing at getting across emotion just with their body language, and you can really see it during songs like death and karate

The band is solid as ever. Best backing band in the metal game hands down. Su's voice remains steady year after year and this girl is proving she belongs no matter what haters will say. Can someone please fire the sound guy though? This was a god damn embarrassment. Where's Patches O'Hulihan to whip him into shape when you need it!
The sound engineering was wayyyy better than at Glastonbury tho. That was an abomination.
It is most of the time done on purpose for live streams...
This kind of sound is a result of taking the stream sound straight from the mixing desk.
Mixes that work on big open-air systems rarely sound good on standard systems/headphones

It's a rare band that puts on a live show that sounds this good. I actually prefer their live sound to the studio recording. Better energy and flawless performance.

Almost two years later...they did what they thought was the best at the time. It was turbulent in the BABYMETAL camp. Mikio passed away, YUI had severe health issues, they tried to get the show running. The hate that they got back then is so sad. They were not real fans. BABYMETAL and crew did their best and they put on a great show every night on that tour! In retrospective, they did the right decisions. Look where they are now! :) Since 2013 when I first learned about them and forward, I'll love BABYMETAL!

I've just recently discovered Babymetal and they are amazing. They've gone from these extremely talented young ladies to seasons young women. Their stage presence alone is something to behold. Then there's the band. Backing up such talent is hard to do but they more than do so. They shine without trying to outshine these women. Both have style and talent. They do something that most wouldn't think would work and yet it more than does. Fox god be praised.

Man...when it comes to putting on a persona and being a larger than life rock star or metal icon...these girls TOTALLY GET IT. The band is heavy af, with Pantera-esque groove too.
Whatever you may think of this band...poppy, campy, cute...passing fancy...it works, and they're seriously on their game and grinding hard with touring. They deserve their fame and the respect of the metal community
Probably Jin Wei had the best shot of his life when Feng Li left the band. After the surgeon said that he couldn't sing anymore, and when Weng went off, they knew it was the time of some good kung fu.
Everything was great, but this version of Karate really stands out. I wish I could see them live someday.

The energy in the crowd that day was unreal...
The novelty of little girls fronting a metal band is gone. However, Babymetal remains one of the most uniquely entertaining bands around. Losing Yui-chan and Mikio-sensei, while tragic, still leaves a whole lot of talent on display!

すげー盛り上がってるｗ それにしても、当たり前の様に演奏してるけど「この舞台」には、そうそう簡単に立てないよね。しかも2ndステージとはいえトリ、ヘッドライナーだもんね。特にアジアのバンドにはハードルが高いけど、BABYMETALが道を切り開いてくれたんで、近い将来、彼らに続く日本のバンドが現れてほしいな～

They taught us that controllers of Asian bands will say or do anything just to get the ticket sales.
They failed to inform the public of Yui's absence so it would not effect ticket sales.
They failed to provide lyrics to most of the songs until after the tour was over.
They used us to test out their new Babymetal concept instead of using their own Japanese fan base.
They lied regarding the group performers...Yui's injured, Yui's sick. How stupid do they think we are?
They taught us that foreign fans do not deserve the same respect they give their own.
I don't believe these behaviors will be helpful for the next group to visit America.

I think Loudness paved the way for all Japanese Metal in the 80's. BM is just the latest wave.
This show/video is great for several reasons. Their costumes were striking and unique. It was a daylight concert so we could actually see a lot of action with the Kami band. And Moa was in top form, especially during Distortion - she was rocking that stage hard!
I absolutely love this. I do feel heart broken that yui isnt there anymore. Unfortunately, these things happen. But I absolutely love their sound. It's so unique. Sweet and hard. Like lightning striking a unicorn. I cant get enough. The level of energy they have and the steady voices. It's so amazing

The fact Moa does the majority of Yui's parts, and they didnt just use one of the other girls on stage as a replacement shows such respect to both Yui and the fans. You cant just replace Yui and they know it. You just have to move on~
