When I was 18, I lived in Western Australia, in an area full of fruit orchards and I rented a house on one of them belonging to a Sicilian family that I worked for in their fruit packing sheds. I’m so glad that I was able to have this experience. I watched and learnt to make fresh pasta, preserved fresh peaches and cherries and the yummiest apple fritters EVER 🙂. But my favourite was watched these beautiful woman sit outside together with their big wooden trough of dough, rolling and then hanging fresh pasta. I’m forever grateful for this experience and to these amazing women. Oh and they also made wine and homemade sausages. The sausage making was a big event as several neighbours would get together to butcher the meat (usually pork), then process and prepare it in the natural casings adding wild fennel and dried chilli seed. To this day, if I’m driving and I see fennel seeds grow on the side of the road, I will stop and collect as many as I possibly can. The taste of wild fennel seed with lamb is a combination I will always adore. I learnt just so much from these beautiful women and even though quite often we didn’t speak the same language, it didn’t seem to matter because food preparation is the language that everyone speaks. Thanks for this video and for the memories it brought back to me. P.s they had one giant cherry tree amongst their orchard and it had been brought over to Australia from Sicily in a suitcase and then planted in the orchard - it was an amazing tree and such an amazing story too.
I followed her recipe to make pasta and I love it because it's so simple and not added stuff. Just plain eggs and flour, made fettuccine pasta and it came out wonderful. Even Freeze some to make later
@sarakhawar1221 I froze them right away if I have any leftover pasta that I don't use. If you put it in the fridge it goes bad less then 2 days and the pasts turn black and sour

If you have a more thorough video involving exact ingredients (list of preferences, sites online, substitutes) and inches/cm for sizes, I'd love to see it. In my cooking class today, we made pasta. Or at least tried to make. You see, the pasta machine we were using didn’t like our pasta, so we wasted so much time trying to get it to work that we ran out of time. I was so upset that I searched up if it was even necessary, because it seemed like something you could easily do by hand. Thank you for this video.

That's how my Italian dad makes pasta and he has taught me. In Italia not everyone has a pasta machine at home and we live in Latam where is definitely not common.
