ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: Coconut Oil In Your Dogs Diet
Coconut oil digests effortlessly, and does not cause any additional requirements for absorption or digestion. Your dog can simply assimilate it easily without the need for any other body organs being used in the process.
Coconut oil does a great job of helping to balance dysbiotic dogs or dogs with leaky gut syndrome and have out of balance gut bacteria issues in their GI tracts. And because of coconut oils bacteria and fungus killing benefits, it's being used holistically to stop and kill yeast problems affecting dogs.
Yeast is a fungus which is continually present on dogs, it's part of the body's natural flora, externally and internally. If a dog's immune system becomes overloaded, or when its fed starch rich foods such as kibbles, the yeast multiplies inside the hair follicles and all through the body. This causes a rapid increase in itching and scratching while the skin appears red-hot looking.
When you add coconut oil to your dogs food, its acids (capric, caprylic and lauric), break down the cell wall of yeast fungus, causing it die.
Coconut oil is also great if your dog has allergies or skin and coat problems. Use it on dry flaky skin through the winter, or if your dog sheds excessively or their coat is dry and coarse with no sheen to it.
Coconut oil is also great topically for dogs that have cuts, abrasions, sores, dry cracked noses, thick and irritated elbow pads and also be used on the pads of your dogs feet during the cold parts of the year. It's the perfect moisturizer for cracked and irritated pads, so don't hesitate to use coconut oil topically.
For internal use, coconut oil is very beneficial and provides much needed Lauric acid in absorbable form. Dogs love coconut oil, and will eat it straight from the spoon and can be used as for administering pills and medications. You can add pills to a dollop of coconut oil and give it to your dog and they'll eat it from the spoon, so it makes an excellent treat and with a range excellent medicinal benefits.
The dosage for coconut oil is a level teaspoon for every 15lbs of body weight. Simply add to your dogs meal or give as a treat.
Topically, rub coconut oil between your hands and apply to your dogs skin and coat at least once a week.

My sweet girl kept itching her ears and there was black yuck and yeasty smell. I used colloidal silver as suggested in one of your other videos but surprisingly it did not stop the smell. I switched to coconut oil and it worked wonders. Still applying it because it seems soothing. The silver drops were traumatic for her. She enjoys the coconut ear rubs!

My dog loves it. I used it on his teeth when he was a puppy to keep them clean, and to get him used to me checking his mouth and gums for any issues. I add about a teaspoon to his breakfast for general wellbeing. I really should clean his teeth more :)

I have 3 labradoodles who have alot of allergies and sensitive skin, they are all suffering with fleas and lost alot of weight 😭 im very worried and dont like the idea of using chemical treatments on them.

The best remdy for fleas is Neem oil: amzn.to/3iV0Igq You can add two tablesp neem oil and 1/2Tablesp liquid soap to 2 pints warm water, mix and spray the dogs to treat/kill ward off the fleas.
You can soak some neat neem oil into a cloth dog collar or bandana to wear out for walks, in the yard to ward off fleas/ticks/mozzies.
You can simply spot on the neem oil where fleas/ticks/mozzies hop on board.
You can mix the neem oil at 3:1 ie 1 pqrt neem oil to three parts carrier oil ie olive or coconut, mix and rub on where needed.
Neem has a garliky/nutty smell, it's ok but using aq few drops of neat Lavender · Chamomile · Myrrh · Ginger · Rosemary · Bergamot · Frankincense sorts that out.
Have you looked into the research done on MCT oil and epilepsy in dogs? Would like to see what your thoughts are, our spaniel was experiencing epileptic fits about once a month and as he is only a young dog we didnt want him to be on medication long term, so have been giving him MCT oil which has completely stopped his fits for over 9 months now.
Yes I've done some looking into MCT oil for this condition and thank you for this information, it all helps. I have been recommending CBD oil and a full raw food diet to stop the fits and this has been very successful also. I shall add MCT to the routine.
I rotate my dog’s oils throughout the week with organic flaxseed oil, MTC oil and Salmon oil. On occasion I may use organic olive oil and avocado oil too. I used to give him organic coconut oil and still do on occasion but when I found out the benefits of MTC oil jumped on it and it’s easier to work with too.
Yes, there now seems to controversy over Lauric acid in coconut oil. MCT does the trick though. Good mix of oils.

Avocado oil isn't toxic to dogs because it does not contain persin, and it's high in the anti-inflammatory compounds of vitamin E and omega fatty acids. However, it's still not considered safe for dogs. This is because it's very high in fat, which can trigger pancreatitis in susceptible dogs.”

I just got a pitbull puppy 3 weeks ago and she is itching alot, I have changed food changed bedding, but nothing helps, so thank you for this information I will buy tonight Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and put it in her food also I will put it on her coat an in her skin as well, because it breaks my heart to she her itching like that. I will keep the coconut oil on her coat and skin overnight an washit of in tomorrow morning God willing.
That will help a little but it's most likely the diet that's causing issues if there's itching. Sometimes vaccines cause autiimmune issues but I dont know the pups history to say.

Awesome advice, Dan! I was aware of the anti-fungal properties of coconut oil, but wasn't sure whether to offer it to my pooch. He keeps getting yeast infections in his ear canals, so I'll be adding it to his diet now. Thank you!

It's not dangerous. Theres been limited research that suggests lauric acid can be inflammatory, that's all and nothing conclusive as yet, it's ongoing.

Hi Dan, my dog is about 12 pounds. She’s a cockapoo mixed bichon. She eats once a day when I come home from work is it safe to give her a teaspoon of coconut oil in her Kimbles every day or is it not safe to do that, she tends to eat the Kimballs like a quarter cup to half a cup when there’s coconut oil in it when I don’t put coconut oil she tends to chew and possibly spit it out onto her mat and she still leaves the majority of her food behind when I give her the coconut oil she tends to eat the whole thing. Yes its fine for what you describe. I'd also expand that idea to include some egg, sardines and a little organs. I say these options for their nutritional qualities. Some extra options to think about, just small amounts. Just remove some of the kibbles to compensate.

Hi, thank you for your videos. My English Mastiff wash just diagnosed with protein losing enteropathy, although they don't know the root cause. They recommend a low fat diet. I was wondering how coconut oil fits in with that.

Thank you for replying. She was on Diamond Naturals chicken and rice all life stages. They had me start her on Hills I/D low fat wet food (cans), and to add the dry version. But I can't possibly afford that with the amount my Mastiff needs to eat. Currently (and hopefully not hurtful to her?), I am feeding her chicken/oatmeal/egg whites in the morning, and liver/rice/carrots/green beans/broccoli/a little bit of peas for the rest of the day. She is taking antibiotics and prednisone, liver pills, clotting pill, and vit B12 pill from the vet - started a week ago. I have also started mixing herbs/spices in her foods, (not all together) - ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, dandelion root extract, milk thistle, iron supplement from the vet....I would like to start the MCT (is it considered less fat?) and kefir, but am waiting until my friend sends me a new batch. I make my kefir at home, but haven't found r the last 4-5 months.

I like what your feeding, just some obsevations that can help... a lot!
I highly recommend you stop the prednisone, antibiotics and possibly the liver meds (what brand are they?). Pred. never ends well. You can use natural antibiotics such as Oregano oil: amzn.to/3ulnF1T
Just mix 1 part oregano oil to 7 parts olive oil ie 1 drop organo oil to 7 drops olive oil and fold into a bread treat and down the hatch.
I'm using the oregano oil myself these last few days, great antibiotic option.
I'm just wanting you to undestand the detriment of vet drugs over time when there natural versions of everything.
Dandelion root extract and milk thistle are excellent (this is your natural liver meds).
MCT is better than coconut oil... all the benefits without the problems and yes, less fat.
Re eggs, use the whole egg and serve it raw for best nutrition.
I also make my own kefir at home.

It won't necessarily help the kidneys specifically although it helps generally. Here's some detailed information to help you understand your dogs kidney needs:
Protecting The Kidneys:
It’s crucial to protect and support healthy kidneys to avoid kidney disease in dogs.
1.Feed a fresh, whole food diet. A balanced raw diet will give your dog the protein, vitamins and nutrients he needs to function well. Adding the following to your dog’s regular diet will also help support his system and protect kidney function:
o Eggs - easily digested complete food
o Small fish like mackerel, anchovies and sardines (canned is good and convenient)
o Sprouts
o Small seeds - flax or sesame are great (crushed)
o Herbs - dandelion and parsley (can gets as tincture if not fresh)
2.Add some fresh chopped herbs to your dog’s food - a pinch per 10 lbs up to 1 Tbsp for a dog 100 lbs or larger. If you buy dried herbs, capsules or a tincture, assume the dose on the label is for a 150 lb human and adjust the dose for your dog’s weight.
3.Avoid or minimize vaccines - since they’re a major cause of inflammation and the toxic adjuvants and additives can compromise your dog’s system. Since the kidneys flush toxins from the body, vaccines force the kidneys to work overtime anytime there’s a new toxin unreduced. Your dog’s kidneys don’t like those toxins and will work hard to flush them out.

I use it every day for my toothbrush, keeps my mouth/teeth healthy.
So dip you brush in the coconut oil, then into the powder and gently scrub once daily. Keep the mouth fresh and stop the rot/bad breath. Use on dog and yourself.

It's from coconut oil but more effective. Just start small at 1/4 dose size and work up over a few days. First time I tried it was too much and soft stools the result, but great brain food.
About 1/8 tsp for small dogs.

Yes, that's a good strain. Monolaurin pills, probably better than actual coconut oil as that's converted into monolaurin. I now recommend using MCT oil over coconut oil, same advantages but without the issue of lauric acid, lately deemed a problem from some testing.
